I think Q feels otherwise. ;)

My only beef with Chuck (aka Mr. Ypsi) has really been when, early in the season, he'd start laying out his odds of IWU either a) going undefeated, or b) getting to Salem, or something like that.

He can be a bit of a Public Relations challenge for IWU fans. :)

And this year he is very close to being correct on getting to Salem ;D

143 for me... I'm just happy because I beat Old School (aka Greek Tragedy #149) by 6!

I wouldn't have joined until at least fall of 2001 at the earliest.

It's really too bad that all three CCIW schools bowed out of the tournament so early and there isn't anything to talk about during the round of 16...  (hehe).

To bring it back to basketball... I'm really torn about the Whitewater/Wheaton game Friday.  I'm pulling for the WIAC school (and I actually really, really like how Whitewater plays this year... for maybe the first time ever?) but Wheaton has always kind of been my default after UWSP.
Bahahaha, I literally just snorted, which I have not done many times in my life and am slightly ashamed to admit. Hahaha. This digression is probably my fault. Nah, it's Greg's. :D

Dude, you gotta cheer for us. Didn't you like live in Wheaton and work at Wheaton basketball camps or something? You have to pay me back for all those years I cheered for you guys when you were still playing.  ;D

Eh, only for the first 19 years of my life.  It's not like I grew up there (oh... wait...).  But it was, like, totally across town...

I did go to Crusader camp... and then I did work whatever it morphed into when the Crusaders became the Thunder.

I don't think it was "Thunder camp."  That sounds like meteorology.

Ah... Thunder Basketball Camp.  Descriptive.  Perhaps not as brief as "Crusader camp" but...

Ah... Crusader camp.  Brings back memories.  I went for at least 6 years straight with all my friends.  What a blast.

Just curious, when and why did Wheaton change their name to Thunder?

From wikipedia...

The school's mascot was changed from the Crusaders to the Thunder in 2000, as the image of a mounted Crusader was deemed potentially offensive and reminiscent of a controversial period in Christian history. The change was noted in the national press, and some alumni objected to the change. Other suggestions for a new mascot name that were rejected included the Mastodons — a reference to Perry Mastodon, which is a mastodon skeleton that was dug up nearby and is now on display on the college campus in the brand new science building. While still known as the "Thunder", in 2010 the mascot was officially changed to a mastodon named "Tor Thunder" to integrate the official and unofficial mascots.[35]

Not sure if this is accurate, but either way, from now on, I am calling them the Wheaton Mastodons.

diehardfan,

That is a classic reason for joining the board!

It's like Donnie Brasco!

from IMdb...

Donnie Brasco: An FBI undercover agent infiltrates the mob and finds himself identifying more with the mafia life to the expense of his regular one.

Ypsi, I guess you and I have to admit that we are having, at some moments, what my Mother calls "premature senility."  How could you not remember your own rule?!?   :)  Perhaps that's is also something to do with my speeling problems.  My analytical and observational powers are still OK (especially when the Titans are winning!), though I sometimes just can't remember what I want to say . . . but, I still think my assessment of the Titan bench is better than Q's, however young and fresh his dear mind may be.  Bob, I'm pretty sure as time goes by, Ypsi and I will continue to be "PR problems" for Titan fans.  Just say'in.  Your time will come, my friend.

Enjoyed all the chatter about the history and traditions of the Board, order of the posters, etc. and how the Boards developed.  I also still think of this as "CCIW Chat" and of all the members here as my "chatster" friends.

My predictions for the weekend:

WC over WW by 1
NCC over Witt by 8
IWU over Wooster by 3 in OT

On the women's side:

IWU over Mount by 8-10
Carthage over Centre by 5

Would absolutely love to see FIVE CCIW Teams in the Elite 8.  Keep it rolling . . .

Go CCIW, GO TITANS!!  (Yes, go Eliud Gonzalez . . . just love the way the guy plays the game).

Very nice piece about the Carthage women on the D3hoops main page now.  Thanks Pat.  Good coverage about Carthage's excellent run in the tourney so far.

That was all the fault of the excitable cabonney - Mr. Ypsi has mellowed considerably in recent years! ;D

A large part of it is probably running the Posters' Poll.  I've tried to do much more realistic assessments of teams all around d3.  This year my ballot never had IWU highest among voters, and some weeks I had them lower than they ended up being ranked.

Well, if you read/post on the boards you do get sucked into the good conversations. You just have to keep coming back for more.
