The UWW announcers are brutal. They have mispronounced multiple Wheaton player names. Different versions of Pflederer and Serenius even with the PA announcer saying it right.

that's what happens when the average ACT score of a UWW student is a negative number  ;D

... Which C in CCIW stands for classy?  Oh, neither of them?

As was mentioned on the WIAC board earlier today, Whitewater is winning this season with a different formula... they're playing great defense this year instead of just trying to outscore opponents.  They're also being very methodical on offense and as a result, they're getting better shots.  Whitewater shot 60% in the first half on the way to that 16 point halftime lead.

Wheaton didn't roll over... we all knew they'd fight back, which they did.  But Whitewater caused 20 Wheaton turnovers for the game and kept throwing able bodies at McCrary.  Whitewater got to the line, sank their free throws, and played enough defense to shut down the Thunder.
If you had read some of DP's posts over the last few days--you would have known he was(is) in his class clown mode. Lighten up-he is kinda funny.:)

Congrats to NCC and Wheaton on outstanding seasons. Sweet 16. Very nice work indeed by both squads.
Congrats especially to IWU as they advance into the Elite 8.

I personally felt the IWU/Woo game was not as close as the final score. I think IWU was the better team by more than 2 points. Additionally, I will be very surprised if the Titans are not playing in Salem next weekend.

Its late, and my head and heart are both hurting a bit. More on a variety of topics after I get home tomorrow night.
You can hold your head high for these Cardinals and their sweet sixteen appearance, especially after their shaky start. I knew after watching them in January that they were much better than everyone thought. That heavy heart-almost like you've been blindsided-that' how the football players have felt at the end of the last two seasons!

IWU is now two-thirds of the way to what might be an unprecedented trifecta: a win AT the #1 ranked team in d3, a win AT the #2 all-time winningest program, and tomorrow (hopefully) a win against the #1 winningest program!  I am PUMPED!
Which would be great if you were playing.:):):):) Seriously, good luck to BOTH Titan teams tonight And to think only you Titan diehards thought IWU would be the third CCIW team picked for the tourney.Amazing job by both teams.

Congrats to Wheaton and North Central on great seasons, and impressive Sweet 16 runs.  Add in Augustana, and that CCIW top four was extremely strong this year.
I would agree with that, which would explain the three of them in the 16 and 1 in the 8 (hopefully final four)

Hey, don't paint us all with the same broad brush. Dennis doesn't speak for me.

I know.  It wasn't intended for the whole group by any stretch, though it did come off that way.  Sorry.

a bit defensive are we ?  if the shoe fits, where it.

congratulations to all the cciw teams for learning how to dance.
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

I guess I am glad I didn't go now. Not gonna lie, I was having such a good time last night I didn't even remember to check the score till at least 11:30p, and at that point nothing could put a damper on my good night.

Honestly I probably feel worse for the Cards fans since they've never made it past Sweet 16, and we've at least made it to the Elite Eight before. We'll both have our day in the sun.... some day.... I hope....

Don't know the reason why the IWU men's bsketball team is staying in a motel on the outskirts of Seville, Ohio, 20 miles from Wooster. I think a women's hockey event in Wooster might be the reason. Wonder if Wooster memtioned that to the D3 committee before Wooster was chosen to host the sectional for the second consecutive year.  8-) Coincidentally, Wooster's road record (not including neutral court games) in D3 tourney games is an appalling 1-10! Their record when playing tournament games at home is 19-5, including the 58-53 win over IWU in 2004.
Division 1 Hockey Tournament, Bowling Tournament and, Oh Yes, my favorite - a cattle auction --- all have rooms tied up before the NCAA awarded site to Wooster which is something I doubt College of Wooster could anticipate.  But, the NCAA had to know about the Hockey Tournament

North Central looked a little worn down at the end of the game. As the commentator said (great broadcast crew from Wittenberg, by the way), the fact that the Cards kept coming up short on all of their shots was a dead giveaway. Witt was physical, deep, and ultimately played great defense on the last possession of the game to seal the win.

Congrats to NCC upon getting farther to the promised land than any Cardinals men's basketball team ever has.
IMHO announcers correct. Lack of depth hurt Cardinals in a game they probably should have won

Congratulations to the CCIW teams for their success in the tourney and good luck tonight to the Titans. The conference run has been impressive and IWU's run of win's on home floors in hostile environments can continue tonight.

A special shout out to Wheaton's seniors Tim McCrary, Spencer Schultze, Jeremy Pflederer and Aaron Garriott. McCrary will be remembered as a star and all american in D3 and was a special player that helped the Thunder achieve success they otherwise would not have experienced. Schultze grew up big time this year when many on here (including me) had their doubts. He not only single handedly won several games while playing at an all conference level, but also there is no doubt the Thunder would not have been in the tournament without him. J-Pfled hit as many clutch shots as I remember seeing in a Wheaton uniform. He had a knack for pulling the trigger at a key time and making a play when the Thunder needed it. Aaron Garriott overcame what most of us would have never have endured just to be on the floor. His commitment and love of the game not only got him on the floor but allowed him to play at an all-conference level. There were games he simply carried the Thunder to victory.

Thanks guys for the memories. Go CCIW.

UWW really impressed me on the defensive end last night. They forced the Thunder into 20 turnovers and really controlled the game from the opening tip. Hat's off to them.

Wheaton head coach Mike Schauer noted, "One of the tough things whenever you get beat is to acknowledge how well your opponent played, and I thought Whitewater was fantastic tonight. They are the best defense team we have seen." Schauer's team won 23 games, the third-highest total since Wheaton joined Division III. He added of his team's strong season, "I am really pleased with our guys. In the end I want our team and our constituency to go, wow this was a pretty good team."
