I know I am late to the party, but this is such an epic quote I don't think anyone will mind me bringing it back up. Good one! It's moments like this that I wish I could give Karma  :'(

If you posted like a normal poster, you'd have enough posts to give karma!

... That said, I should have about 10,000 posts, but a lot of times, mine approach page-, if not chapter-length!
Psh, normal is so overrated....

The National Association Of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has named North Central College Head Coach Todd Raridon as the Midwest District Coach Of The Year.

Tim McCrary of Wheaton and Jordan Zimmer of IWU were named to the 1st team, and NCC's Derek Raridon to the 2nd team.
The NABC names only a 1st and 2nd team per district.
Congrats to Coach Raridon and to Tim, Jordan, and Derek.

I've been away from the computer, and outside enjoying this fantastic weather ... as any sane Chicagoan should be.

We were fantastic yesterday, and supposed to be again tomorrow, but this evening things got ugly.  Tornado in Dexter (about 20 miles west), major flooding and other damage in Ann Arbor.  No word yet on any casualties.

I unplugged my computer for several hours, but we missed the worst of it - probably about two inches of rain and lots of lightning, but no wind at Mr. Ypsi's location.

Glad to see you, Mr. Y!  I was checking the weather for Holland and saw the Dexter tornado pictures.  Stay safe.

Thanks for the good wishes.  Seems to be all but over for this evening (just occasional light rain; still no wind).

How long before climate change deniers get universally regarded like Holocaust deniers? :P

That's the point I just made. Still makes them an Illinois player. This does not translate into coverage of three games featuring four teams the general Chicago Tribune readership has barely heard of.

This kind of coverage in a local paper beats the heck out of a few inches on an inside page.

It makes him/her an out of state kid, playing for an Illinois team.  Until it's been tried, you can't say for sure and there is some marketing that goes into all of this as well. A Final Four tournament here just might work, BUT, I highly doubt that it will ever get a chance. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Hey now-I don't think you want to bring that thread over here now do you?

I assume you are talking about the Politics thread, but I said nothing political.  The existence of climate change is a scientific question, which has already been answered by near unanimous scientific consensus.  What to do in response is perhaps a political question, but I didn't address that.

To the best of my knowledge, there has NEVER before been a mid-March tornado in Michigan.  I know people in the area hardest hit, but due to power outages have been unable to learn if everyone is OK.  Sorry to have had a human response. :P

To Pat's point, though, even though IWU got a blurb and D3 schools, in exceptional cases, get a small story, it's overshadowed by everything else going on in Chicago.

The Final Four gets front page coverage in Salem.  There are full profiles of every team.  It makes the news.  It's a big deal.

That just wouldn't happen in Chicago.  Even if you got it from one outlet, there are dozens... and it would be overshadowed in general.  This just isn't the case in Salem.

I think this whole topic started with-what if we combined the final four, to what if you moved the location. It was just an opinion expressed by some. I highly doubt that D3 championships will ever move from small/mid city locations ,but it sure is fun to wonder what if....

D-3 watcher

Lots of nice awards for cciw players and coach Raridon. Well done.

D-3 watcher

I hope this doesn't happen, but does the two teams that falls short in the semi's get two players chosen for the All-Star game. Zimmer and who else for IWU? And who from the other teams that may fall short. Does anybody know who has been chosen for the game already? Tim McCrary comes to mind.

My, oh my.  I've sparred the room from my answer but if readers in the room would like a brief history on Michigan tornadoes, Mr. Y can pass on my links I've provided for him.

PS  We've had tornadoes in March.
