If you were outside all week-end watching IWU sports you've got to be as "red" as I am right now. Great weather for track and beautiful facilities as well!

Especially for those of us who forgot to put on sunscreen.

Congrats to the NC men and the IWU women on their CCIW Track and Field Championships yesterday.  Congrats to NP on winning the CCIW baseball regular season championship.

And, that "team that shall not be named" also won in Softball over Carthage, for the CCIW tournament championship.  The IWU men won the CCIW Golf Championship yesterday, as well, making it nine championship crowns overall since 2001.

Congrats to all the TITANS -- three CCIW championships in one day!  Lotta talented and dedicated Greenies!

NCC men's track is on the verge of becoming a CCIW powerhouse.

It was an amazing display of the depth they have on that team. NCC only won three events, yet ran away with the title. It was a great TEAM effort. And having all that beautiful weather was a bonus.  :)

Yes, NC seems nearly unstoppable in men's T/F.  Same in cross-country, right?  Even more so!  IWU women are having a good streak, three wins in four years, could go for another national title this year, but not sure they have the talent or depth to do it.  We'll see in a weekend or so out in Claremont, CA.

Yes, lovely day and nice facilities.  I stayed out of the sun by watching more softball than T/F.  Good that we dodged the thunderstorms and rain.

More to go on softball -- with IWU and Carthage in a very strong regional in softball here at IWU, starting Thursday.  IWU seeded #1, Linfield seeded #2.  8 teams with the winner going to the national final 8 teams in softball in Salem, VA.  Keep it rolling TITANS!  As I've said, with the Titans pitching, hitting and speed, I do think they have the kind of team that could really do some damage in the national NCAA tournament.  We'll see.

More baseball to go now too.  Congrats to NP on their regular season championship, hosting the CCIW tournament this weekend.  Time for the Titans to get on a long, strong run, like in 2010. :)

The IWU women don't have the depth for 1st or 2nd but 3rd could happen if everything clicks.

Based on the regular season results in 2010, the Titan baseball team didn't have enough to make it out of the conference tourney - they came home with the Walnut-and-Bronze.

While I love participating (though generally not very well :P) in various Pickems, I've sworn off prognosticating!

Oh, OK - the softball team will end the season somewhere in the range of the 2007 and 2010 baseball teams! ;D  (I'll root for MUCH closer to 2010! ;))

Mr. Ypsi

Since this is the basketball board, I'll clarify for those who don't follow baseball.

The 2007 Titan baseball team had the greatest conference season ever (20-1), then completely flamed out in both the conference and regional tourneys (both 0-2; both in B'town).  The 2010 team was under .500 very late in the season, barely made the conference tourney, then went all the way (leading in the national championship game by 17-2 at one point!).

Ever since then I have been of the opinion that as long as you MAKE the conference tourney, the regular season don't mean sh!t! 8-)

NCF

Got to watch quite a bit of softball in between two days of track. Elmhurst and Carthage both gave the Titans good games. I wouldn't be surprised to see IWU go far in the tournament-they are solid. Hoping NC can  make another run at the outdoor track title-will need everyone to step up and hopefully get a few more qualifiers in the next two weeks.

Thanks Dansand for the Augie updates. Looks like a few of the recruits might help in time, but probably no Drew Cartstens in the group. Aare any of these kids likely to see varsity playing time as freshmen? The stats on the kid from East Moline look pretty impressive given they came against big school competition. Big holes to fill in the Augie lineup with DeSimone, Rorer and Voiles moving on to bigger and better things.

Lot of quality players throughout the CCIW in the 2012 graduating class with the exception of NCC. The Cardinals have to be the prohibive favorite next season with only Gillespie, a solid roll player, graduating.

Ryan should see alot of minutes very early. Would expect Johnson and Pils to see some time as well. Not sure about the others and not sure who's going to get the playing time at the guard spot... like you said "Big holes to fill"

Let's hope Brady Zimmer is back, healthy and ready to go, along with the untested guards:  Overstreet, Molinari, Wheeler etc.

Connor Wheeler has moved on to John A. Logan Junior College.

RECRUITING NEWS

North Central has received a commitment from All Upstate Eight, Daily Herald All DuPage County, and Class 4A All State 2nd team member Tyler Sutton, a 6'2" SG from Neuqua Valley HS in Naperville, IL.

Tyler owns a shooters eye, and a supreme court IQ. For the just completed season he shot 41.6% from beyond the arc, including making 101 three pointers.  He averaged 16.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and had a 3 to 1 assist to TO ratio.

While at Neuqua, he was coached by his dad, Todd, who heads a Neuqua program which has sent several players to both the CCIW, and other prominent D3 regional schools.

The Suttons are good family friends of ours. NCC is getting a good one in Tyler.
