Didn't "hit a nerve" with me, but I couldn't help but chuckle that, on the same day I posted:

... you saw fit to post this:

Quote from: RIOCI on December 09, 2012, 10:50:32 PMHey guys, I don't post very much at all, but I read the postings all the time. I have a question, why does it seem like NCC is still fighting for respect. They have a group of players who has been proving themselves the past 2 years and are currently 4th in the nation. The writers believe in them apparently, but it seems like the majority of posters find fault with them and are looking for them to fall on there face. Well with the exception of And One I'm going to assume he is Cardinal red to the end! Like now most posters are yeah Wheaton going to do this and do that. Respect is earned and not given, but doesn't a Co-Championship, a Championship, a Sweet 16 appearance, and a sky's the limit year equal respect?

I agree with blue_jays. If you aren't playing the Disrespect card, you most certainly have the deck in your hand and a suspiciously sticky set of fingers. ;)

I think NCC is very well-respected however I do think that one small reason they haven't gotten as much discussion is that they don't video broadcast their games.   I have seen IWU, Augie and Wheaton play via streaming video and would like to watch the league favorite but it hasn't been an option.  Posters have been able to share thoughts on teams they've seen.

They have been discussed, but the reason they haven't been discussed even more is that BIG reason. :P

New rankings- Wheaton up to #9, Wash U to #10, NCC at #4.  January 5 looks like it's going to be a good game.

Mr. Ypsi

Additionally, IWU slips from #17 to #18, and Augie from (#26 to #27).

I guess I can handle half the conference in the top 27! ;D

iwu70

Seems the new poll got it about right -- NCC 4th, WC 9th, Wash U 10th, IWU 19th, and some ORV, some strong love for AC at 27th.

How the mighty have fallen, former #1 MIT drops out of the top 25.

(IWU women at 18th, weak love for WC and CC in ORVs.)

Wilson's not into self-promotion. He's pretty reserved.

He must live in DuPage County with those top 2. It goes without saying that these are arbitrary rankings at best and definitely misinformed. While NCC can make a case for top 3-5, Wheaton and Augie have NO business in anyone's top 5-10 at this point unless Kent Raymond and Drew Carstens suited back up for their respective teams and nobody told us. I won't even go into the other teams that are here. I love me some CCIW basketball, but not a chance.

The new D3hoops ranking seems to disagree with you regarding Wheaton's ranking (# 9).

Last Sat night, NCC moved to 7-0 with a 65-46 win over Simpson (IA) in a game that really wasn't even as close as the final score. Simpson is athletic and quick, but really has no inside game on either end of the floor. The visitors did hang with the Cardinals initially, and half way through the 1st half, the home team held only a 10-9 lead. The Cards then ran off 11 straight points, Simpson rallied somewhat, and NCC went to the locker room with a 27-19 half time lead. Early in the 2nd half the Cardinals held a 32-22 lead, but then went on a 17-0 run, effectively resulting in "game over." NCC eventually bumped the lead up to 31 before emptying the bench.
Landon Gamble led all scorers with 21 (9 rebounds), followed by Derek Raridon with 16. Aaron Tiknis pulled down a game high 10 rebounds, handed out 4 assists, and blocked 2 shots.
NCC held the visitors to 30.6 shooting. Other telling stats--
Points in the paint--Simp 12, NCC 34
Points off turnovers--Simp 11, NCC 21
2nd chance points--Simp 4, NCC 23

North Central takes on Wisconsin-Platteville tonight @ 7:30 in Naperville. The Pioneers are 7-2, and are highly ranked in several categories nationally, including 3rd in scoring defense, 3rd in scoring margin, 27th in 3 pt FG defense, 18th in rebound margin, 30th in steals per game, and 10th in turnover margin. While the Cardinals certainly haven't played the toughest of schedules, 4 of Platteville's 7 wins have come against Emmaus Bible College, Goshen, Illinois Tech, and Lancastar Bible.

In spite of the fact that UW-Platteville pummelled Goshen, the Maple Leafs have no business being lumped in with the sorry likes of Emmaus Bible, IIT, and Lancaster Bible. Goshen (7-4) has done fairly decently against good NAIA competition, and Massey has the Maple Leafs in a position between D3's #65 (Oswego State) and #66 (Capital).

and one-don't see a video link on the NCC site?  hoping to see the cards for the first time this year.

Mike Mayberger had a protective boot on an injured foot this past week.  Seems he hurt himself in the Wash U weekend.  Hope it's not serious and he's back by U Chicago game this Saturday.  Titans can ill-afford more injuries, esp. to one of the players who has played quite well to date in this early portion of the season.

Titans vs. U Chicago on Saturday after, following finals, @The Shirk.  Hope the stresses of finals and the rust of the layoff (about 10 days!) won't hamper the Titans in getting a much needed win.  Let's also hope the pieces come together a bit better, a bit more smoothly this Saturday.  Perhaps the home floor, a little "home cook'in" and relief with finals week being over will lead to a breakout win.
