Wow, what a spine tingling moment that must have been for Nathan Haynes and his mother. The rest of the year will surely be a let down. His team just lost a big game, despite a monster game by himself. He and his mom, having just a few moments together before they part ways again, get to meet And One. Wow
Did they get your autograph, or perhaps a picture with you? I can't speak for them, but I am sure its a moment they won't forget.

I and IWU understand that it would have been a different game had Nathan Haynes been able to play, but a lot of things would have been different. Without him in there, our bigs were forced to go out and guard smaller players capable of making threes. This left the lane wide open and Tyler Peters just took advantage of this. But without him, IWU got a ton of offensive rebounds early in the game, and that was a big reason they got out to the lead early. When we play again, I'm sure Nathan will be ready to show the Titans what he can do. But I have a feeling they already know, him being from Bloomington, I'm sure he works out with a few of them. He has become a force to game plan against.

I have little doubt that the Wheaton/IWU game would have been a different one if Haynes had played. And yes, indeed a lot of things would probably have been different as esteemed hoops analyst D-2 Watcher pointed out above.
Three of the things that would have been different would most certainly have been the rebound totals, especially offensive rebounds and subsequently, "points in the paint" and "2nd chance points."

I spoke with Nathan (nice guy) and his mom after the game, and congratulated him on his showing against NCC. He was very disappointed at not being able to face IWU, and certainly looks forward to facing them in Bloomington. He indicated one of primary things he missed about the game was not being able to compete against many of the IWU players he knows pretty well due to his being from the area. I got the impression that if he could just play one conference game all year, IWU would be the team he would choose to go up against.

Yes, having more than just 3 offensive RB's (as WC had vs. IWU) would have helped the most.

AO, Johnson Syndrome would likely be the correct diagnosis when it comes to Berg's early career. He does have nice touch from the three-point line and especially the corner but Wheaton is going to need him and J. Smith to develop a post presence for their long term success. I felt like North Central had a pretty good matchup when Tiknis was guarded by J. Smith and put him in the post but they only ran the ball through him on a back-down once.

Matt Nadelhoffer has made amazing strides.  The only question is how long will he stay at Millikin?

Yes, sir. I concur.

Well, there's two questions, actually. The other one is: Will we get at least one regular Millikin poster here while Matt is still in Decatur? ;)

Congrats to NCC's Vince "Mad Bomber" Kmiec on his selection as CCIW Player Of The Week.  8-)

After an injury and drama-filled season and a half, sophomore PG David Molinari has left the IWU basketball team.  He's no longer listed on the roster.

Greg, did Nadelhoffer apply for the North Park job last year?  (When NPU hired Dylan Howard?)  I believe he was in that candidate pool but couldn't remember for sure.

Gregory Sager

Yes, he did. He interviewed at NPU, but Millikin offered him the job while NPU was still sorting through the final tier of canddiates.

Class of 2013 Normal West G Spencer Seibring has committed to Illinois Wesleyan per his coach Gavin Sullivan with @PeoriaIrish

(Big-time signing ceremony!  Lots of media assembled behind the camera...probably by the stove.)

Seibring recently scored 27 points vs Limestone at the Pekin Holiday Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team - http://www.holidaytournament.com.

Here is a pic of him mugging some kid from Central Catholic - http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/pantagraph.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/b/8d/b8d8ce92-1655-11e1-b0d2-001cc4c03286/4ecdc98dae3b9.preview-300.jpg

I've heard he is a good, solid guard with a nice upside.  Welcome, Spencer.

Here is a kid committed to Wheaton...

66.  Ian Asher:  6'0" Shooting Guard, Danville H.S.

Committed:  Wheaton College (DIII)

Ian is a big time scorer who can stroke the ball from 3-point range.  He is undersized for his position, but finds ways to score.  Rebounds pretty well for his size.  Ian can probably run the point in college if he needs to, but he is definitely a score first point guard.  He is very quick and likes to push the tempo.

As a Big Blue fan around Decatur, it has been awesome to see what Coach Nadelhoffer has been able to accomplish. I don't have any special insight that hasn't already been discussed in previous pages, but I am anxious to see what they do against Elmhurst tonight. It's a matchup that could be telling on how relevant Millikin can be this year. Win at home and show you're worthy of some early conference season recognition, or lose and let people dismiss you. Can't be anything but pleasantly surprised with the results these freshmen have created so far.
