D-3 watcher

Q, should stand for quiet, don't tell anybody about Zimmer. It's a secret.
Just kidding of course, he's fun to watch. Some similarities with his brother, but with a few twists. He really moves well without the ball, and his boys are finding him.

The jumpers were falling tonight.  11-15 beyond the arc.  27-42 from the floor overall.

Wheaton played most of the game without Tyler Peters who played only 13 min due to foul trouble.  My guess is if the game was closer, Schauer would've tried to get him more minutes, but Wheaton kept expanding the lead with him on the bench.  There were 49 fouls called in the game.  It seemed like every play just had to have a whistle.

Michael Kvam had 21
Brayden Teuscher had 19

Ben Ryan had 17 for Augie.

Wow.
Huge win for Wheaton on the road which puts Augustana in a bad spot.  Suspect Coach G's coat came off very early last night :-*

The coat came off with 15:43 left in the first half last night. In all fairness it was toasty at Carver.

Great win last night for the Thunder, especially given the foul trouble with Peters, Haynes, P. Smith and Teuscher. Tad Fisher was huge for Wheaton hitting a deep three with time running down on the shot clock in the second half and keying a couple runouts leading to baskets. Caleb DeMoss was also solid off the bench keeping Wheaton's offense moving. Joe Sokovich might be the hero of the game for Wheaton, sparking a 6-0 run that turned a three-point Augie lead into a three-point Wheaton lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

It was great to see Mike Kvam get back into a shooting groove. He's a premier talent as a shooter.

He spoke on it in the WETN postgame interview but last night was an emotional win for Mike Schauer after his mother passed on Monday following a long battle with cancer. Certainly praying for Mike and his family through this time.

What is most impressive to me about Wheaton's 19-point win @ Augustana is that the Thunder did it without huge games from two of their top players...

* Tyler Peters: 7 pts, 2 reb, 1 assist/3 turnovers (1-2 FG)
* Nathan Haynes: 9 pts, 5 reb, 1 assist/5 turnovers (4-4 FG)

I'm not saying those are bad games -- just that I figured for Wheaton to win last night these two would have to have monster games.  Teuscher (19 pts, 6-10 FG, 1-2 3-point, 6-6 FT), Kvam (21 pts, 8-11 FG, 5-6 3-point), and Berg (11 pts, 3-3 3-point) were incredible.

Wheaton is very much in it -- two losses but done playing @NCC and @Augie now.  Augie, at 2-3, is in some trouble.

Yep, coach Schauer said that the game wasn't that physical for as many fouls that were called.  Its nice that they shot a good percentage away from home though.

Q - How many more losses can Wheaton have and still be considered a pool c contender?

PS: If you haven't watched the Wheaton women play this year you should check it out.  They have incredible ball movement with no look passes.  I cant remember a women's team as exiting as this one is to watch.

And how far it did it fly?

Noticed that in conjunction with Augie's record, attendance in Rock Island seems down. Only 421 attended last night's game. Attendance at the 3 previous games was 517, 321, and 323. Maybe Grey needs to replace his jacket toss, stomp/stomp/stomp, and wave off act with a new repertoire?  :-\

Pretty disappointed in the way the game/uniform situation was handled last night.  I show up at NPark around 7:20 and buy a ticket.  There was absolutely no mention that the game was going to be delayed over an hour.  I got up and left.

Granted, it was only $5 but shouldn't there be a common courtesy on someones part working there to notify fans the game is delayed BEFORE they pay for it?!?

And yes, I get it was IWU's fault this all happened.

And while you were sitting there in the stands staring at the empty court, did it occur to you to ask anyone what the delay was? Or to request your money back upon leaving?  :-[

Could that be related to the students not being back yet? I don't know the make-up of Augie's crowd (students, families, etc).

How does a team forget their uniforms? I could understand a player forgetting a uniform (though not really... you always pack your back, check, double check, and check your neighbor's bag), but a whole team?

Someone associated with IWU's basketball team - I'm not sure who is in charge of the uniforms - made an enormous mistake today.  An unfortunate and embarrassing situation.  The Zimmers had to turn around on I-55 and go back to the Shirk to get the uniforms for pete's sake.

Knowing Ron Rose, I'm sure he apologized profusely to North Park personnel tonight.  I'll bet he felt awful.

I'm sure that they felt bad... and it really is an unfortunate situation.

The procedure just struck me as odd, since we always got our uni's before we left and packed our own bags.

Unless a school is wealthy enough to have a basketball equipment manager or they assign the responsibility for uniform issue/packing to a specific person, I think the usual small college procedure is that players normally pack their own travel bag, and are thus responsible for their own uniforms. Obviously, the Green Weenies do things differently, as its highly doubtful that each and every team member forgot their game uniform.

If they don't pack their own bags, perhaps they should.  ???  :o  :-X

"Slightly" off topic, but does anyone know the origin of the term "Green Weenies."  Wasn't sure how long this has been around - I'm told years, but that's an inexact number....

The 323 was before Christmas break started. The 321 and 517 (when they played St. Ambrose from right across the river) were during break. Last night's game was a week and a half after classes resumed.
