I think Pat Coleman would enjoy the Year of the Snake then :)

The Year of the Dragon was auspicious for everything--marriage, having babies--but the Year of the Snake is not the best for much of anything, but I am not sure that the Chinese zodiac addresses basketball.

The last three times we had the Year of the Snake, it looks like we had the following results:

Catholic University over William Paterson
Wisconsin-Whitewater over TCNJ
Wittenburg over Oneota State

I am not sure what this tells us about this season.

what next?  will we need to read every head coach's horoscope each day they play an ncaa post-season game to decide who is going to win?  who cares if it's the year of the snake or the year of the titan or the year of the banana slug???

Per Grinnell - something just dawned on me. In the results vs. regionally ranked opponents. Grinnell is 2-1 and St. Norbert is 1-0... take out the head-to-head in that category and St. Norbert is 1-0 and Grinnell is 0-0. I have no idea if the committee would have considered it that way... but I found it interesting.

Who could forget Horace Jenkins?  And who could forget Pat Maloney's headband?

Q, or anybody

Who you got?
1) Best conference (top four)
2) Which conference makes Atlanta

Amhurst-Williams-Middlebury-Tufts out of the NESCAA
Or
IWU-NCC-Wheaton-Augie out of the CCIW

IWU had to score the last ten to beat Tufts in December

I'd have to think about more.  For now I'll point out that Massey has:

1. WIAC
2. UAA
3. CCIW
4. ODAC

The bottom of the CCIW is keeping it from being a top two league in my opinion.

Every great team needs one guy who sports a headband or mustache.

From the Amherst/Middlebury game, check out the intentional missed FT play that sent the game to a 3rd OT...

I love the intentional missed FT, that has to be one of the most unlikely things to actually go according to the plan, especially cool that the shooting player got his own rebound.

I practiced this in my driveway as a kid a lot of times, almost never went in, and I had no defenders to beat, no real clock, no real game nerves or intensity to cope with either.

This is exactly what happened at the end of the third overtime in Saturday's Elmhurst @ NPU game:

Quote from: Gregory Sager on February 09, 2013, 11:14:15 PMAnd, still, things continued to get strange. Cassita made the first FT, making it 102-100. He missed the second, deliberately leaving it short off of the front of the rim. Somehow, Sanford knocked it out of bounds, giving NPU the ball back for one final attempt to either tie or win the game. The Vikings were actually able to find Cassita in the far corner, but he undoubtedly had no legs left at that point, and his shot hit the rim and bounced harmlessly off to give Elmhurst the game.

The only difference is that Amherst got a basket directly out of the missed FT, whereas NPU simply got the ball out of bounds off of Cassita's deliberate miss ... and was unable to knock down the game-deciding shot that came as a result of that inbounds play.

Strike this - the head-to-head between Grinnell and St. Norbert would not have been considered in the "results versus regionally ranked opponents" this week because Grinnell was not ranked and so their two games against St. Norbert would not have been on St. Norbert's data. They are on Grinnell's because St. Norbert was previously ranked. Next week St. Norbert's data will be 1-4.

Well, not really either, because Grinnell isn't regionally ranked in either poll.
