FWIW, my all-CCIW teams:

1st Team
G   Peters   WHE
G   Overstreet   IWU
G/F   Raridon   NC
F   Haynes   WHE
F   Gamble   NC

2nd Team
G   Sodermann   IWU
F   Tiknis   NC
F   Ziemnik   IWU
F   Sanford   ELM
F   Holmes   NP

3rd Team
G   Teuscher   WHE
G   Kvam   WHE
F   Thompson   CAR
F   Ryan    AUG
C   Kuntz   AUG

I doubt many will find this out of line...

Peters is Player of the Year.

I think Overstreet should be first team because IMO he is the reason that IWU has been so successful.  I expected some drop-off in IWU when Gonzalez graduated, but there really wasn't.

I had a little trouble placing the really good players on the poor teams (Sanford and Holmes).  I think 2nd team is reasonable.

I felt bad keeping Reed (IWU) and Johnson (Millikin).

There is no way IWU and NCC are getting 3 AC players and Wheaton is getting 4. Haynes won't be 1st team over Tiknis/Zeimnik and I think either Reed or V Davis (possibly both) are a lock for appearing somewhere on the AC teams. Kvam is not All conference in my opinion. too inconsistent this year. Great shooter but he didn't prove it often enough. Teuscher has a chance for 3rd team. I would put Zeimnik on 1st team (that's a no brainer) over Haynes (2nd team). And I would add either Reed or Davis from IWU to the 2nd team bumping Holmes from NP to 3rd team. On the 3rd team I would put the other IWU player (Z/V) and lose Kvam. There is also an argument for Kmiec over Teuscher on 3rd team. I would go with:

1st Team
G   Peters   WHE
G   Overstreet   IWU
G/F   Raridon   NC
F   Zeimnik    IWU
F   Gamble   NC

2nd Team
G   Sodermann   IWU
F   Tiknis   NC
F   Haynes   WHE
F   Sanford   ELM
F   Reed   IWU

3rd Team
G   Teuscher   WHE
G   Holmes   NPU
F   Thompson   CAR
F   Ryan    AUG
C   Kuntz   AUG

I would like to channel my inner Sager and point out that it is "Sodemann" not Sodermann.

Further applying the Principles of Sagerism also compels me to point out that it is Andrew Ziemnik, not Zeimnik.  :)

Welcome back, Mark.  I assume you're making the trek down I-55 tomorrow......

petemcb

I keep hoping to hear/read that there is another option for tickets for tomorrow other than making it to IWU in time to get in line in time to get tickets in time to catch the opening tip......but alas - no options?  Is it one ticket for both games or do they clear everyone out after the first game?

AndOne

And while we're on the subject-------

Much discussion about Andrew's weight, and the fact that he doesn't "look" like a basketball player...........

Well, whatever his weight, nobody can say it has prevented him from getting the job done.
I probably give Andrew as hard a time as anyone, but in all honesty, I have to say I think his not "looking like a basketball player" but still playing well is kinda cool. Blame the rebel in me.  ;)
He has effectively "managed" his weight to the point of being able to develop his skills and make himself a top flight player. He hasn't allowed his weight to control him, but rather, has controlled his weight.

They've never cleared the gym after a first game before; I doubt they'll do it now.
You'll never walk alone.

Welcome back, Mark.  I assume you're making the trek down I-55 tomorrow......

Actually, I've accepted D-3 Watcher's gracious invitation to pick me up at the Aurora Airport tomorrow in his private plane, and fly me down in time for the 5 PM tip.  :o   ???   ::)   ;)

D-3 watcher

1 ticket both games

And I think it's silly not to sell advanced tickets. I wouldn't like to drive four hours and then get shut out. I don't think that will happen, but it could, there are only so many seats and the fire marshal has a number in his book as well.

There is a lot of parking, but with the track meet, all the big buses, it will be tight.

There are assigned sections for each teams fans. NCC gets the middle, so I think I'm going to wear red to get the best seat, right at mid court, front row.

I don't know who I really want to win, I think it's going to be a battle. If IWU gets by Augie,  I really want to play the Big Blue or North Park, somebody easy.

That playing on Tuesday this week is silly. Everything rides on the conference tourney, the two teams that make it to Saturday, will have played four games in a weeks time. And it's not the same for everybody, NCC and IWU, had to really play a game, where as Wheaton and Augie not so much. Another year the other two teams might have it hard, and IWU and NCC might get a easy game. And I'm not getting my excuses ready if we don't win the tourney.

About those T's. Both were deserved, refs had no choice.

Charlie R. Was called because on his dunk, while hanging on, which is legal, he then pulled himself up and before coming down, slapped the backboard. That slap was why the T was called.

Victor D.  After a foul was called on IWU, he slammed the ball down with both hands, the ball went higher than the backboard. The ref, just looked at him and shook his head. He didn't even blow his whistle, he had no choice. The foul wasn't even on Victor.

Both players just kinda lost it.

Were the refs bad last night? I don't know, yes they missed some calls, they all do. They could call a foul on every possession, NCC fouls all the time, they hold, push, pull, set illegal screens, go over the back on rebounds, reach and hack. And they do it all the time. Now replace NCC with IWU, and the same thing is true. It's a hard game to officiate.

Don't everyone faint, but D-3 Watcher is exactly correct!

On Rosenberg's T--The refs told the NCC coaches they were willing to let the actual hanging on the rim go, but when he slapped the backboard, he definitely crossed the line, and they T'd  him up. The loss of composure resulted in Charlie sitting for the remainder of the game. I don't think you'll see him make that mistake again!

* As far as fouls, I've always said that if the refs call every foul that actually occurs, they would foul out at least 7 of the 10 starters in every game.

* I feel the worst call I've seen all season, and maybe forever, occurred in the IWU/NCC game. It was when Aaron Tiknis dove and batted a loose ball that was headed out of bounds, back in. The refs ruled that his one handed battling of the ball while sliding on his stomach was "possessing" the ball, and thus called for a reset of the shot clock which had or was about to expire as I remember the situation.

* Nobody that attended the game in Naperville the other night probably knows this, but 2 of the refs that called that game were "replacements" who were not originally scheduled to work the game. I'm not sure which 2.

D-3 watcher

I thought the worst call was on Arron T. He picked up his first foul by tripping Victor D. Their feet got tangled, it was nothing, I was happy, but it was a missed call. The ref only saw Victor going down.

Ya, but on the Tiknis dive play, they saw the whole thing, and still blew it out their a$$.  :(

What can I say about North Park...I'll bash the refs!  In their triple OT loss the the BlueJays, Elmhurst was inexplicably stuck on nine fouls in the second half for a very long time as well as half of the first OT.  (NP "easily" got to 10 in the second half.)  Nick Sanford, who had 26 points, picked up his third foul in the first half of the second half.  Not once during the second half and three OTs was a single moving pick called.  Sanford could have been called for 10 fouls - over the back and moving picks galore.  Zero fouls the rest of the game for him.

Zach Cassita attempted to launch a 3/4 length shot at some late point, which included him raising his right leg off the floor as part of the heave.  He got hammered and the idiot refs did not call a shooting foul.  Very, very strange.

At the very end of regulation or an OT...I had a very bad angle on the play...Mark Holmes seemed to climb all over a Bluejay back who then lost the ball out of bounds.  No foul, and NP got the ball with a chance to win.
