TitanQ gave stats for the upcoming IWU/AC game.  I thought it was extremely unusual, if not unprecedented, for a reserve to be a team's leading scorer.  (Brady Zimmer with 14ppg.)  So I went to IWU's website, which indicates Zimmer has appeared in 16 games and started only 2.  It lists his ppg as 11.4 or one-tenth of a point behind the team's leading scorer.  That stat is still unusual.  Another peculiarity is that IWU's leading scorer who is a regular starter averaged <12ppg.

Just a clarification that my IWU/Augie stats are from CCIW games only...

Brady Zimmer is IWU's per game leading scorer in CCIW play at 14.1 ppg.  He has played in 9 games (missed 5 with injury), without starting any.

Impressive CCIW numbers from Zimmer:

39-55 FG (.709)
10-14 3-point (.714)
39-48 FT (.813)

In my opinion, a healthy Brady Zimmer is the difference between IWU being a really good team, and being a team good enough to get to Atlanta.  I'd say right now he is about 70% with that lower back injury.

I know this has been covered on this board but I don't remember how many pages (or dozens of pages) ago it was:  what is the timeline for the rounds leading up to Salem this year?  Is it one game per week, on Saturday nights, or are there also games on Fridays?

One game each of the next 3 Saturdays
Elite 8 and Final 4 in Salem
Championship game in Atlanta the same weekend as the big boys

Saturday, March 2 First-round games completed.
Saturday, March 9 Second-round games completed.
Saturday, March 16 Sectional games completed.
Friday/Saturday, March 22-23 Quarterfinal and semifinal games, Salem, Virginia
Sunday, April 7 Championship game, Atlanta

3 pointers at 71.4% if extended through an entire healthy season (or just the next several games) would be an unbelievable weapon.

While not a fountain of basketball statistics, I know of no other reserve player at any level ever leading his team in scoring.

I dont think anyone questioned his fitness (I didn't), more his apperance. And my bad, I referring to th epost players for IWU in my earlier posts

The original post was from cciwrabblerouser, who said:

"please tell me it's the camera ...

'the camera adds 10 pounds.'  since i have a great deal of respect for iwu and its basketball program, i am looking for confirmation that indeed it IS the camera.  watching andrew ziemnik (#35) of the titans on the  video feed last night, it appears that andy is extremely overweight, with flabby arms and a 38" waist.  i assume this is NOT the case, but it's only the camera that is adding girth.  it just looks very unwesleyanlike (hey i've created a new word) to have an out-of-shape player on the court.

can others confirm that andy is in great shape?  i'd prefer to hear it from non-iwu fans since i know they look at everything through green-colored lenses."

Extremely overweight, flabby arms, and out-of-shape would indicate questioning someone's fitness to me.  But no one who's seen Ziemnik play in person would seriously question his fitness.  The broadcast made everyone look short and heavier than they really are.

thank you, hoosiertitan, for anwering the question that my original post asked.  it only took about three pages for someone to answer rather than having a knee-jerk reaction that one of iwu's own would be 'attacked.'

my question was not meant to be an attack.  the camera was such that everyone, according to hoosiertitan, looked 'shorter and heavier than they really are.'

because of where i live i do not have the luxury of watching cciw games in person so i have to rely on streaming video.  i hope that the next generation of cameras could give a more accurate portrayal.  hey, maybe a wesleyan grad can invent one .....   ;)

Anyone else notice the IWU broadcasters seem to, at times, have the voices of overzealous professional wrestling announcers?

It cracks me up.

They're beyond awful.

I usually try to cut student broadcasters some slack, but ... well, you all know my feelings about announcers not doing their pronunciation homework. They're butchering a number of names.

Doesn't sound like they've done their homework on anything having to do with these two teams, in fact. They seemed genuinely surprised that Jack Burchett, the most notorious charity-stripe clank artist this league has seen in years, struggles at the FT line.

D-3 watcher needs to fly Bob into Bloomington to call these games over the Internet. Please!

Fantastic defensive game. Both teams played as though they would be lined up against the wall in front of a firing squad if they gave up a bucket.

Is this kid patterning himself after some other broadcaster that I am not familiar with?

If the play is even close to exciting, it sounds like they are calling a really, really good Kentucky Derby stretch run.

Gregory Sager

Jack Burchett: 15 pts, 13 rebs
Derek Raridon: 10 pts, 6 rebs, 5 asts
Vince Kmiec: 6 rebs

Tyler Peters: 26 pts, 5 rebs
Brayden Teuscher: 10 pts
Nathan Haynes: 7 rebs
Michael Berg: 7 rebs

The player of the game was easily Jack Burchett. Landon Gamble only played 15 minutes before fouling out, and his contributions were negligible. Burchett came off the bench and played like a man tonight. Aaron Tiknis was mostly quiet, but he hit two huge treys down the stretch to thwart a Wheaton run that had put the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance in the lead.

Wheaton shot 32% from the field, NCC shot 41%. Wheaton only had four assists the entire night. Even though Peters piled up the points going to the rack, there was nevertheless too much unproductive driving by WC and not enough ball movement -- but the Cardinals defense had a lot to do with that.

I think Jack Burnett was the player of the game!   :)
