NCAA bracket is out.

IWU hosts Trannsylvania
NCC hosts Centre
Wheaton hosts St Norbert

IWU, NCC, Wash U, UWW are in a bracket of death and would all play in round 2. Wheaton would face St Thomas in round 2

Was just looking at that...absolutely mind boggling to me. You've got 3 teams that could have conceivably made a run at the Final 4 all stuffed in that one part of the bracket. Silly.

That's what the NCAA does-every chance they get. This doesn't surprise me at all.

Rough draw for Wheaton too..they'd face #1 St Thomas assuming they get through Rd 1.

I was hoping there'd be a chance for a 3/4 CCIW final 4 :-P

Will NCC have to travel to UWW in round 2?

It's a good question.  Whitewater was most likely #2 in the West final rankings and NCC was either #1 or #2.  It's a little apples to oranges but who knows.  It's really too bad that we're trying to figure out who is hosting between #2 vs. #3 (from Massey's Ratings) in the second round.

I think they determine the hosting sites for the second round after the first round is complete.

All-conference team is up.  Raridon MOP, Rose COY, Ryan Freshman of the year.  I think the choices are good ones.

1st Team
G   Peters   WHE
G   Overstreet   IWU
G/F   Raridon   NC
F   Zeimnik    IWU
F   Gamble   NC

2nd Team
G   Sodermann   IWU
F   Tiknis   NC
F   Haynes   WHE
F   Sanford   ELM
F   Reed   IWU

3rd Team
G   Teuscher   WHE
G   Holmes   NPU
F   Thompson   CAR
F   Ryan    AUG
C   Kuntz   AUG

So on this list the only misses are Soderman and Holmes out for Kmiec and Pierce in. Add a 6th 3rd round pick (Johnson) and there you have it.

I am surprised at Tiknis on the 3rd team. I would have kept him as a 2nd team choice and moved one of the 2 Augie players to 3rd team.

Congrats to all of these players for their hard work!

Agreed, looks pretty fair all around.

Since Augustana and DivisionIII are named in this article I thought it might interest someone.

It was sent to me by a childhood friend of David 'Chicky' Salinas who was a lefty on the LINFIELD   1971 NAIA championship baseball team.  I was standing right there when Chicky showed up in 1970 at the McMinnville campus.  I remember my friend's reaction "What the F are you doing here?"
Chicky scammed some Theta Chi fraternity brothers out of $1200 and disdappeared from McMinnville. He showed up at my home in San Juan Capistrano, CA, that summer. I put him up for 2 weeks. He scammed my parents out of a grand to go see his sick mother. The very next day I got a call from McMinnville asking if by any chance I had seen David Chicky Salinas.

Interesting to lok at Transylvania's schedule this year:

- 20-7 overall with 3 of those losses coming to Hanover.  I mentioned previously that this IWU team reminded me of previous years Hanover teams.  Obviously Transylvania matched up poorly with them to account for 43% of their losses.  Hopefully IWU is the same way.

- Lost to Centre College (who NCC plays) early in the season in OT.

- Lost to Kentucky 74-28 in an exhibition

Really looking forward to a possible rematch with Wash U.  The Titans are a much better team than the first time they played.  Here's to hoping the strong conference benefits IWU, NCC & Wheaton like most years.

Does any body know about Wheaton ticket info.  Other teams too.  Lets get those stands filled with CCIW fans.  If I find out first I will post the info.
Congratulations to the CCIW getting 3 teams in, especially Wheaton and coach Schuaer for getting into the playoffs.

With no pods this year, likely ticket sales will be at the door rather than in advance. Should not be a problem getting a ticket.

Congratulations to IWU's three all-conference players!  When the season started, I'm not sure many had these three pegged as all-CCIW players.  Dylan Overstreet was exclusively a JV player last year, Andrew Ziemnik played PF last year and was asked to transition to the SF position, and Kevin Reed was good as a JR, but not this good.

After IWU's tournament at Wash U in early-December, I was e-mailing back and forth with Ron Rose that Monday right after about my observations.  (He asked - after those brutal two games I really didn't think I should answer either.)  I told him I did not think Overstreet was good enough to play the 1...that he was more of a 2.  And I told him I did not think Ziemnik was good enough to play the 3...that he was a 4.  It was about as wrong as a person can be!

These were definitely IWU's three most valuable players this year.  I'm disappointed Pat Sodemann didn't make it...he really played well on a 13-1 team.  I really thought IWU had a great case for 4.  But certainly there are just too many other good players out there.

Really happy for Dylan Overstreet, Andrew Ziemnik, and Kevin Reed.
