How did that happen? Kiko's post, which was sent an hour ago and contained the same joke as mine about IWU gray-hairs getting the Senior Special on Saturday, only just appeared on the screen milliseconds before I hit the "send" button.

Of the top 25 Massey teams that are done:

- #3 Whitewater lost to #2 North Central in the second round
- #6 Stevens Point lost to #4 Calvin in the second round
- #8 Hampden-Sydney lost to #37 Cabrini in the first round
- #11 Wheaton lost to #1 St. Thomas in the second round
- #13 Platteville did not make the tournament
- #16 Stout did not make the tournament
- #17 Augustana did not make the tournament
- #19 Concordia (TX) lost to #21 Mary Hardin Baylor in the second round
- #20 Wash U lost to #5 Illinois Wesleyan in the second round
- #22 Catholic lost to #14 Williams in the second round
- #24 Alvernia lost to #10 St. Mary's in the second round
- #25 Emory lost to #9 Whitworth in the second round

Twelve of the top 25 are gone, but only two are of these were eliminated in the tournament by teams with lower rankings.  (And one of those -- the Texas two-step between Concordia and MHB -- was essentially a push and was hosted by the school with the inferior ranking.

(The rankings do somewhat self-correct after the fact, but if you make these comparisons using the pre-Round 2 Massey rankings, only one other game scores as an upset -- Stevens Point had previously been ranked slightly above Calvin.)

Of the two outliers -- when compared to its two tourney foes to date, Ithaca had been ranked above Springfield but well below Rochester.    Morrisville State was significantly lower than both Ramapo and Rhode Island College.

Daylight Savings Time adjustment is made manually and I did do it in the past hour or so. I bet those two posts illustrate perfectly when the change was made.

Either that or Greg has gotten a LOT slower in his typing skills and he just thought he started posting at the same time when it took him an hour :)

What typing? About 95% of what I posted was quote boxes.

Thank you, Patrick, for reassuring me that I hadn't lost what is left of my mind. ;)

Well if it makes you feel better, you tell it better than I do...

Mr. Ypsi

I got my Medicare card in the mail today (I turn 65 in July) - time to lay off the blue-haired IWU fan jokes! :P  (Though, alas, living 400 miles away, I'm rarely in the fan contingent anyway. :(  Since I graduated in 1970, I've seen the Titans more often in Michigan than in Illinois!)

iwu70

Ypsi, now that you have that card, you have to get out on the road more.  Naperville is not that that far away, and surely Q could get you a ticket or a pass, heh?  The Titans are going to need all the fan support they can get to enliven that stunted and confined hall at NCC.  Hope you get out and support the Titans.  I'm just too too far away to contemplate it all . . . but will be following, watching with interest, of course.

Keys to the game Saturday?

I'm sure my Medicare card will be coming soon . . .as we are in the same age cohort.  Yes, those jokes about the elderly Titan fan base, bus contingent, are getting pretty old and stale.  Other schools are just envious that they don't have such a loyal following.  Just wait 'til Greg and Q are pushing a walker, then we'll really have some material for good jokes!  (Of course, you and I will be green dust by then, but enjoying Titan heaven!  Right?).

Let's hope we see the Titans in Virginia and Georgia soon . . . now that would be something to cheer about!

Should be a great battle on Saturday in Naperville.

IWU70

Mr. Ypsi

Mark, I had definitely toyed with the idea of Naperville on Saturday, but alas one of other things that gets more common with aging intervened - my wife's cousin's funeral is Saturday. :(  (Not sure on timing, but I probably won't even get to watch on the computer, as we'll probably stick around for a dinner.)

I'm not real optimistic (though hopeful).  Now that the Cards are fully healthy, I fear they are what we thought they were when the season began - the best team in the conference.  But once the tourney begins, I NEVER totally count the Titans out. :)

iwu70

Ypsi, sorry for the loss in your family.

You may be right about NCC and being truly healthy now.  They will be a tough out, esp. @home.  We'll see.  Our Titans have been awfully good this time of year of late at finding a way to win.  I think they will do it again, likely in a very close, even OT game.  Would be nice to see the Titans put it ALL together for one game and have all the pieces functioning at optimum level -- esp. Zimmer, Sodemann, great production off the bench, and more good stuff from the regulars as of late -- Overstreet, Davis, Zman, Reed, Dortch, Mayberger.  We've got so many good players, all doing their best to make a contribution, play their key roles.  Gotta admit that to me Overstreet and Reed are the Titan MVPs so far . . . who would have thunk it at the beginning of this season, heh?  NCC is such a talented team with  such experienced players, battle-tested, so this will be a real tough test, I guess a fitting finale to the "bracket of death."  From here on in it may be easier.

All best -- hope winter is finally giving up its grip on the upper Midwest.  Gloriously warm and sunny here in HK.

Go TITANS -- bring home another W, do the CCIW proud and move on to Salem, yet again!!!

Wow, that's very impressive.  Thanks Titan Q for the info. (Though I'll just prefer to look at it as they've never beaten a #3 ranked team before Salem :) )   Should be interesting in that they are playing a team who has already ended a different impressive streak of theirs this season.
