First let me say, I know IWU can win tonight, and I think they will. But I also know that it might not go that way.
Either way, I won't use the fact that the court's setup is not in line with all the other courts that teams in the NCCA play on, as an excuse for not winning.
The fact that there has not been an argument from any NCC posters, prove that indeed the layout does not fit into the guidelines in which the court should be laid out. Would the NCCA do anything if the rims were only 9ft. 10 in.

My issue isn't with NCC, it's more with the NCCA. They write rule books bigger than most novels. The NCCA has a rule about everything. They make it a point to let the host school know  that they are in charge, it's their gym.

I just don't think the NCCA really cares. The D-3 tourney cost them money, but they should still make sure that all schools that wish to host an event has a court that is set up like it is supposed to be. What they are saying is, some rules do not matter, and that's not right.

NCC deserves to host, no argument here on that, but if they want to host, they should get their gym set up like it says in the rule book. They have a good program going now, maybe they like it different from all the rest of the courts, maybe they like the advantage of the other team not being used to all the extra room behind the backboard, but just maybe they shouldn't be able to host a NCCA tourney either.

Looking toward to watching the game tonight, I'm betting the players couldn't care less about the gym or the seating. These two teams just like banging on each other.

I bet the IWU players do care about the gym when it comes to shooting, but they also know they have no choice.

May the best team in green win!

The Hangar is looking awesome for this Sweet 16 game. Lets hope the place is packed and all sweaty just like an NCC v. IWU game should be.

Both teams seem very ready for this 40 minute war ahead of them..

Lets go Cards!!!

I'll bring the cheese since our friends from Bloomington are bringing plenty of whine!   ;D  We can meet at the extra space behind the basket for a snack.   :D

Whether or not the court is an issue, it met the NCAA review.  IMHO, a non-issue.  We play in the Hangar at least once a year.  Every facility has peculiar characteristics.  I'll take the Hangar, a quality host like North Central any time over a gym so small it needs to be cleared between games or a teamd that tried to use non-standard game ball because their conference used them.

From conversation last night with those who know, seating, tickets and parking are not going to be a problem tonight.

One time is a typo
two times is maybe having NCC on the mind and easy to slip another 'C' in there subconsciously
three times is maybe a little drunk
four times is over the edge
five times deserves a correction
six times deserves a bat signal for Sager

.....but you're right neither, the National Child Care Association or the National Commission for Certifying Agencies probably care about the dimensions or layout of Gregory Arena. :)

Sac,

It was kinda of a slap to the NCAA, you know a joke. I'll try and figure out the smiley face thing next time.

And my wine, I'll take some 07' Silver Oak   Napa

Typically the Carthage fans bring the cheese, but I believe they are home this weekend.

Middlebury beat Ithaca by one.  So next opponent for NCC or IWU will be Middlebury.  Salem on the line.

The gym won't matter that much.  Team that rebounds best, takes care of the ball, and hits FTs especially down the stretch, will win the game.

GO TITANS!

Mr. Ypsi

Heck of a game going in Naperville, if only the refs would let them play occasionally.  FOURTEEN foul calls in less than 7 minutes!  The cheerleaders may have to play the last few minutes of the game. ::)

IWU up 18-14 so far.  A lot of guys from each team already have two fouls.

Mr. Ypsi

OUCH!  NCC on a 13-2 run, turning a 4 point Titan lead into a 7 point deficit; about 8 to go in the half.

iwu70

Yes, trouble for the Titans, down 10 at the half.  Poor perimeter defense and poor FT shooting so far.  Need better D and a better shooting percentage.  NCC playing great D and shooting it well.  46 points in a half is unacceptable.  NCC has lots of weapons.  Titans need to get it going, get back some Mo.  Long way to go but don't like the looks of this so far.  So many fouls on both sides with several with 3, many with 2.  Could be a factor down the stretch, as guys foul out.

Williams has won too, joining Amherst and Middlebury -- so all three from that league into the Elite 8.

DP is up big on the women's side, so an undefeated season, national title for them very likely.

Come 'on Titans, get it going.

IWU70

Mr. Ypsi

At the half, NCC 46, IWU 36.  The first two tourney games NCC was 4-20 from downtown; the first half tonight, they are 7-13!

The refs calmed down somewhat from their whistle-fest, but still called 24 fouls in the half.  Raridon and Rosenberg each have three, Tiknis and Gamble each have two; for the Titans, no one with 3, but four guys have 2.

iwu70

Coach Rose needs to shorten the rotation, go with what got you there.  Let the chips fall . . . and hope some key NC guys foul out.  Gotta defend the perimeter better.  Playing Marietti in a game like this a mistake.  Go with the key 8-9 guys, and let Zimmer and others get into an offensive flow. Pound it down to Davis and Reed, kick it out, get some treys.  Gotta still win the RB and TO battle.  Long way to go.
