Having Titan roots might be the only blemish with Baines.  :P   I was hoping Baines would be the one to fill Scherrer's void.

Agree 100%. But, speaking as someone whose alma mater recently had a graduate assistant on the coaching staff who had the same roots, I can attest that the saving grace of coaches who are former Titans is that they work that much harder to beat Illinois Wesleyan -- and they take even more pleasure in it when it happens than do the rest of us, which is saying something.  ;)

BTW, congrats to my friend Dave Wrath on a very well-deserved honor.

(And I'm looking forward to working in his new namesake press box.)

If that is the case, I hope IWU grads choose to coach at a CCIW school other than North Park (for the sake of their happiness).

A certain GA was grinning from ear to ear after this game.

Things starting to come out about the 2013-14 season. Millikin has posted their schedule.

Thanks for posting NewCCIWfan.. of interest to me as a SLIAC fan is the season opening doubleheader with Elmhurst and Milikin playing SLIAC members Greenville and Westminster.  This is a great opportunity for two middle of the pack SLIAC teams (my perception only from what seems to be returning from this season) vs 2 of the lower level (again simply based on 2012-13 records) CCIW teams.  It's always a huge positive for the SLIAC if we can at least be competitive in situations like this.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Daily Herald article on John Baines hiring at Elmhurst.

As was discussed here previously, it appears Baines was the choice all along, and virtually all he had to do to secure the position was submit an application. Further evidence of this is found in the fact that the original job posting order I saw on line indicated that applications would be accepted through 4/27. However, the job was offered to Baines a week earlier.

It appears assistant coach, and former EC star, Chris Martin will be staying on, but the fate of the remainder of last year's staff, including fellow former player Nick Michael, is uncertain.

Word on the street is that Nick Michael will be heading east to VCU to work in the strength/conditioning program for that very successful program.  Quite an exciting opportunity for Nick to be able to work with Shaka.

Ron Rose and the Titans have landed Alec Bausch, a 6-6/205 PF from De Smet H.S. in St. Louis.  Bausch averaged 12.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game as a senior.  He helped his team to the Missouri Class 5 state championship game in Columbia.

Bausch played the post alongside 6-8 all-state F Nolan Berry, who is heading to D1 Butler on scholarship...so he definitely was not the featured post on the De Smet team.  I watched some video of that state championship game recently and came away feeling like Bausch is a really solid CCIW recruit.  He's a very active 4-man who does a lot of things well - can score with his back to the basket, can knock down a jumpshot, is a really good passer, and rebounds well.  He's like Kevin Reed in a lot of ways, but more of a 4 than Reed - should be a solid player for the Titans down the road.

Bausch was also a standout WR on the De Smet football team.  I believe he's thinking about giving football a go at IWU this coming season, but he does consider basketball is primary sport at this point.  We'll see how that two sport thing goes.

6-10/255 C Jordan Threloff, who recently left Illinois State, seems to be on his way to D1 Northern Illinois (per Joe Henricksen on Twitter).  I had heard Threloff was considering North Central due in part to a very close connection with Pat Rourke.

Northern is also getting one time Illinois commit Michael Orris, via transfer from K-State.

Better NIU than Wheaton, which is where Orris's parents went. As Dennis Prikkel and I have said in the past, it would not have gone over very well with a lot of us Covies if Orris, whose parents are the co-pastors of Hope Covenant Church in Crystal Lake, was playing for NPU's archrival.

I would have been fine with Threloff to NCC and Orris to Wheaton.  ;D

Pat Rourke "fed" Jordan during their high school days in DeKalb.  ;)

NIU might cost less than attending NCC, but basketball at NCC would likely be a lot more fun given NIU's ineptitude on the court the last several years, including their just completed 5-25 season.   8-)

Perhaps Mr. Threloff can be persuaded to reconsider his options.   :-\
