Quote from: devossed on May 07, 2013, 05:56:38 PMI recall seeing him visit at a Hope game his JR year, but seems to be he was nowhere near Hope's radar this year. I wonder if they (or he) squashed Holland as a destination early in the process.

I think that Wood was interested in staying close to home, which is why Hope and St. Ambrose got crossed off his list.

I'm sure that some NPU fans will have dreams of Wood stepping into the starting lineup from the get-go and immediately establishing a formidable duo in the paint alongside Mike Gabriel -- the thought's certainly occurred to me -- but, again, he's an incoming freshman from the smallest-school level, and he no doubt has a lot to learn. We need to give him time to develop before any expectations are placed upon his wide shoulders.

I have been told that there was at least one other CCIW school looking at Wood but they couldn't get him into school. Grades may have been an issue as well.

newCCIW,

I'm confused. Help please.

IF another school was interested, what reason would there be why he couldn't get in other than grades?
Thanks.

I apologize, Greg is correct, I should have been more careful in my post. I have deleted it. My post was unclear - I was simply trying to offer an explanation as to why Hope may have cooled on him (based upon a conversation with a fairly reliable source). However, there are also many other possible reasons.

While there are a variety of reasons a Student Athlete picks one school over another, it is unfair to report a rumor which I cannot verify.

One recruit who plans to play football and basketball at IWU is 6-6 wide receiver Alec Bausch of DeSmet High School in St. Louis.

Sounds like Bausch will indeed try to give both sports a go as a FR.

AO - Any word on any other incoming NCC recruits? Seems odd that there is only 1 reported as of now.
You win! You always do!

Dennis_Prikkel

according to this morning's Daily Herald - North Park alum Keith Peterson is the new boys varsity basketball coach at Buffalo Grove HS.  Congrats Keith.
I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Buffalo Grove couldn't have made a better choice. Congrats, KP!

(Rob, now that KP's gonna have his hands full running the Bison basketball program, it looks like you're going to need to find a new rec-league sidekick who's willing to put so much effort into making you look good on the court.)

Hello all!

I'm involved in the "Call of the Year" contest conducted by Stretch Internet.  I am hoping to become a finalist, and if you wish, you can have a hand in getting me there.

Go here ( http://bit.ly/YmvliM ) to listen to the audio clip, and then click on "Love It" to cast a vote.  You may vote once per day through May 30th.  Fans will decide the top 10 and top 5 finalists, and Stretch personnel will decide the winner.

Thank you very much for your consideration!

North Central recruits

* Ryan Peter--6'4" Wing from Joliet Catholic. All-Area player who averaged 12.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, & 2.0 apg.
Shot 42.7% from the field, including 38.2% from three.
* David Robinson--6'6" Forward from Lockport Twsp.
* Ricky Bullock--6'2" Guard from Homewood-Flossmoor.
* Blake Cowden--5'11" Guard from Tri-Valley HS in Downs, IL. IBCA 1A/2A  All-State 2nd team. Averaged 17.2 ppg, 4.4 apg, & 3.4 rpg.

Article on Ryan Peter:

Ryan played on a pretty poor team at JCA. He was by far his team's top player, and was always the guy the opposition focused on, frequently doubling him. Despite this, he was one of the best pure shooters I saw this season, including a game in which he hit 6 of 8 threes, being knocked down on 3 of his 6 successful attempts.

Article on Blake Cowden (Indicating he had narrowed his college choices to Wesleyan, Carthage, and Millikin)  ???

Two Tweets of Interest for the Big Blue...

Matt Nadelhoffer ‏@CoachNgoBIGBLUE
"Millikin Basketball just got a lot better... #newera @32tjc @CoachJonLester"

Then a few hours later

Scott Burgess ‏@scott_chihoops
"McCluer (MO) 2013 PF Shaq Edwards committed to #Millikin tonight. Great pick up for Big Blue."

Looks like Edwards averaged 12.7ppg, 3.2rpg for McCluer HS who also produced current Millikin point guard TJ Griffin.
