We should learn about the status of Landon's negotiations with the T71 Dudelange team of the Luxembourg Diekirch League by the end of the week.

Kinch will pass along the word from the Diekirch League to Papa Bear using the radio hidden in the coffee pot.

Seibring is not all that common a surname, but the IWU men's team has Fr Spencer from Normal, and Fr Trevor from Towanda, while the women's team has Sr Katy from Towanda.  Anyone know if I'm correct in guessing that Katy and Trevor are sister-brother, and Spencer is a cousin?

iwu70

Ypsi, you are correct.  Spencer and Sean are brothers, Katy and Trevor are sibs.  There's another sib of Katy and Trevor coming, still in HS in Normal, who may be better than all of them.  He's a 6'5" wing player who can really shoot the trey.  He may end up at IWU or at an even higher level.  We'll see.  Would love to have him come to IWU eventually.  Both fathers work at IWU.  Details on the write-ups of these players on the IWU roster pages, portraits of the players.

Trevor is a good big man -- pretty much ready to contribute now to some varsity time, if needed.  See my comments earlier on him.  Spencer will be playing JV ball this year.

As I understand things, an option year buyout is the only sticking point currently.

So now that Benedictine's roster is up, I am compelled to ask if anyone on the board has any idea which stop is next on the Luke Johnson NBA Express.  :)

I'm guessing he'll end up at D2 or NAIA.  He can contribute at that level immediately and with only 2 years of eligibility left, I just don't see a D1 school taking him and hoping he develops really quickly unless they are desperate for size.

Or maybe he's back at Carthage.

From a very well placed source............

It seems Luke "NBA" Johnson discovered Benedictine, as Carthage beforehand, was not the ticket to NBA stardom. He wanted to transfer to a D1 this year, but it seems his NBA body is giving him some difficulty, particularly with regard to some back issues he has encountered. Accordingly, his current plan is take some time off to rehab his back, then transfer to a D1 next year to complete his remaining 2 years of eligibility before entering the NBA draft.
Of course that is all predicated on a D1 taking a kid who spent his 1st 2 years out of HS at Carthage and Benedictine, and then his being talented enough to play in the NBA after completing his college eligibility. Some dreams die hard.  :(
As far as the possibility of his returning to Carthage, I sense Bosko would have a good laugh before telling him to "go scratch."  ;)

Very nice, full coverage of the Titan men and women in today's Pgraph. (pantagraph.com).   Along with Q's full review, there's a lot of information out there.  Sounds like Nelson, Zimmer and Marietti are mid-December to early January returnees.  Could be Zimmer gets back a bit earlier.  No indication anywhere that I have seen on Rossi's status.  ?  Maybe I missed it.  Pgraph piece focuses on the four senior front court players who will make the Titans tough in the paint, a good rebounding and interior defensive team = Dortch, Zman, Anderson and Davis.

Two days and counting 'til tip-off.  Should be a great season.  (Some great DI games last night from the United Center -- thank you State Farm!).

(Perhaps Gamble and Johnson are teaming up together to make a joint bid to join the NBA development league!).   :)

Keep laughing.

I've posted my annual IWU season preview on IWUhoops.com for anyone interested...

thanks for the preview!!!!!

Rossi is expected to play this weekend.

iwu70

Glad to hear Rossi will play.  An important player, especially longer term.  Hope the other injured Titans are recouping, recovering quickly and well.

IWU vs. Manchester 8 p.m. Friday @The Shirk.  I think Aurora and Ripon face off at 6 p.m. in the first game of the two-game evening.  Games Saturday are 5 and 7 p.m. for third place and the championship.

Seeing as how CCIW Chat is sort of our clearinghouse board for CCIW athletic departments in toto, this is the place to announce that NPU is adding a new sport -- or, more precisely, reviving a previously-discontinued sport.

I have no idea if the new North Park women's tennis team will be able to hold its own against CCIW powers Augustana and Wheaton, but I can guarantee that, with Karl Clifton-Soderstrom as the coach, NPU's women's tennis players will be better able to articulate the distinction between the phenomenological approaches of Husserl and Heidegger with regard to the question of Being than any other tennis players in the conference.

Don't you mean the Manchester game will take place in the Performance Arena @ The Shirk Center For Athletics & Recreation @ the Emerson Street Athletic and Wellness Complex?   ???   ::)   ;)   :)
