Got ya. Look out scoring record. :D :P

* Blackburn went to 3OT vs Rockford

* Rockford beat Loras by 5

* Loras beat IWU by by 5

Should make Blackburn the favorite tonight.

If that is the case---I'm taking IWU and the points for a $1,000!

IWU doubled up Blackburn by halftime -- lots to time later for the deep IWU pine sitters -- likely the third group getting some time tonight at The Shirk.

IWU70

Titans over Blackburn tonight at The Shirk, in a stroll, 95-61.  It was three-ball heaven with lots of minutes for the second and third groups, the pine pretty much cleared with many minutes to go.  Surely tougher tests are in the future, but not tonight.  Seems Marietti was back on the court tonight -- if I'm reading numbers correctly from the fuzzy video feed I had here in Hong Kong.  Titans now 7-1, moving on.  Wilmington will be a very tough test upcoming.

IWU70

14 of 15 Titans on the floor tonight scored, with Jordan Nelson leading the scoring with 15, Mike Mayberger 11.  Most starters played less than 18 minutes.  The Titans made 15 treys tonight, and Brady Zimmer has yet to find his stroke this season -- so lots and lots of long-range weapons.  Too easy tonight.

Keep it rolling, Titans!!!  Very small crowd, no Pep Band, as students are away after finals, Christmas break having already started.

Not sure if anyone saw this but I thought it was cool.

What's better than a buzzer beater to win? How about 2 buzzer beaters!

And One: How old are you? Just wondering.

A few Michael Mayberger stats: In his last 2 games, he attempted 7 3-point shots and made all of them and was 9/10 from the field. He is now shooting .588 from the field; .550 on 3s (11/20); .800 from the line; the 6th leading rebounder at 3.1; 2nd on team with 4 blocks despite averaging only 17 minutes per game. Because Rossi had to leave, Mayberger is getting more minutes (24 at Chicago and 17 v. Blackburn). He has really developed into a serious weapon off the bench. Ditto for Jordan Nelson who was IWU's leading scorer v. Blackburn with 15 including 4/5 on 3s. He is an elite shooter with a super quick release. I'll quit as IWU's depth storyline is getting old (but true).

That only happens against Grinnell!  ;D :D ;)

You know, I'd pay real money to see a team out Grinnell Grinnell.  Say, the SYSTEM PART II.  How it works is you recruit the entire football team, so you have like 90 players.  Reserve a section behind the bench.  Four players are always on offense and 1 player in on defense and that player is your football team's QB.  His only job is to grab the ball (either after Grinnell makes a shot or he grabs the occasional rebound) and launches down the court to the other 4.   At least two are offensive linemen, whose sole jobs is to set nasty picks.

Now, in true SYSTEM PART II fashion, you need to decide who will score all your points, so choose the long-distance runner from the track team so he doesn't get tired and make sure he can make a layup.

I'm figuring, if down correctly both teams should score 200.

Glad to see Hometown Kid, IWU's Bryce Dolan, finally shooting the 3 pter the way he should be. Proud of that Young Man! :)

16-24 (.667)

He's shooting it extremely well.

NPU fell at home to Benedictine, 71-54. Just an absolutely awful loss against a thoroughly unremarkable BU squad. Juwan Henry had 26 points, but 22 of them were in the first half. Nobody else on the team played well at all. In the second half, the Vikings only managed to make six field goals and score 17 points. They played absolutely terrible basketball over that final twenty minutes -- and it wasn't as though they were playing UWSP, or anybody even remotely of that caliber.

The Vikings are terribly crippled by youth and a lack of size, of course, but the problems don't end there. This is turning out to be an epically dismal season for NPU, even by the low standards set over the past three years.

Not sure why you need 90 players ... doesn't sound like anyone will be moving very much in the SYSTEM PART II

Elmhurst beat host Austin College down in Texas this afternoon, 94-84. Kyle Wuest had a huge day for the 'jays, scoring 26 points and garnering 9 boards while going 4-5 from long distance. He scored those 26 points while taking only 11 shots from the field, which is a pretty darned efficient effort. Will Nixon had 15 and 9, while Nick Sanford and Bryant Ackerman had 15 and 7 apiece and freshman Tucker Harlan dished out 5 assists.

The game was not without a little drama, as Elmhurst's 28-point lead with 5:28 to play was whittled down by the Kangaroos to as little as seven points with a minute left before EC finally sealed the game at the free-throw line.
