It's a good call, Ypsi, for MI. and Central Illinois, for IWU.  This is brutal, dangerous cold.  Things will be better, "back to normal" for temps by Thursday or Friday.  Actually, quite a few students at IWU now live off campus too -- especially upper classmen and some international students.

Stay well, stay safe.

Our Titans sure did have an amazing, strong first outing vs. Elmhurst.  Hope they are just as hot vs. Augie on Wednesday @Carver.

GO TITANS!

IWU70

Actually, now that I think about it, it does seem strange.  Students do still have to go out to get their meals; how is class different?  Perhaps it was a bow to staff and faculty, who do NOT have to walk to the student center for meals, and who do NOT live on campus! ;)

Whatever - a good call by the administration.

Faculty and staff don't live on, or necessarily near, the campus where they work.

It's also worth noting that it's just the university offices that are closed today. Classes aren't scheduled to start back up until Wednesday.

I recall the discussion about the NCC coach getting tossed a few weeks back.

This one was a doozie--you need to see the video as well.  I would think some university presidents would take action before the league would.  Hard to excuse this kind of behavior.

What made this one worse was Iowa having to make up for a frankly unacceptable decision by its head coach. In case you hadn't heard, Fran McCaffery blew a gasket and got himself ejected at the 11:52 mark of the game. It led to four free points for the Badgers—not a brilliant idea when you're hanging onto a tenuous lead, to say the least—and put an unreasonable amount of pressure on the team down the stretch.

The fact that AppletonRocks associates "the NCC coach" with this story should not be construed to mean his actions were in any way comparable to those of the Iowa coach in tonight's game at Wisconsin.  >:(

The proof is in the fact that Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan did not walk over to the Iowa staff after the game and tell them "you got screwed" as did the Buffalo State staff after their game with NCC at the tournament in Orlando.  ;)

Whoa there partner! No staff from Buffalo State said any such thing to anyone from NCC. One coach did compliment the assistant who filled in when NCC head coach got tossed ( and the head coach should have got tossed because he acted like a complete fool) IMHO!

I could care less about the attached article regarding Iowa and Wisconson but after NCC coach was tossed he even barked out threats to the tourney organizer, Alfredo Ortiz! After the game he took all the sym cards from the video person who was hired to film all the games. The coach from Buffalo State tracked down the NCC coach back at the Sheraton hotel and confronted the NCC coach about taking items that did not belong to him. All the cards were givin back to Coach Ansari ( Buff state Head Coach) immediately !!! I find it rather offensive that someone would try to even co sign for such behavior that we all witnessed at that game and try and color it with such a false statement as the aforementioned 1.

Ps. I am a coach with Buffalo State so I am not giving you second hand info!!!!

A doozie for sure.  Bumping a ref never good.  Likely a multiple game suspension and some fines from his University.   Quite key to the outcome of the game, too, it would appear.

Sure glad the CCIW is mostly much more calm, our coaches more respectful and appropriate with their argumentation.  Well, save for coat tossing.

I wonder if Dennie Bridges or Ron Rose ever got "tossed."  ??  Curious minds want to know.  :)

IWU70

I remember one Lawrence vs Ripon match-up in the MWC years ago where they should have stopped the game, put up a steel cage, and let everyone re-enter (at a higher admission price, which would have been a value)  for a no holds barred cage battle between Tharp and Bob Gillespie.  Instead they tossed Tharp (he was on the road) and the game went on.  The rivalry has been more sedate since both these coaches exited the respective programs.  I think Tharp playing vs. Ripon at Beloit may have started it all, but who knows.  Tharp has had great success at D-2 Hillsdale College.

Hold on Coach Eve.  You came on a public forum, identified yourself as a university representative, and accused the NCC coach of conduct that could constitute a crime under Florida law.

Are you real sure that you want to go this route?

Washington University was closed today as well, though I have to think that the decision was made in large part due to the fact that they did not have enough parking cleared.

Sorry I opened this can of worms, I have no horse in the NCC/Buffalo fight, just recall the discussion about a tossed coach recently.   :-[

Fran McCaffrey is something else...

I was at this game 2 winters ago in East Lansing, a well earned T, followed by a chair slam that actually damaged the floor.  All of his antics were 100% related to the fact his team was playing flat and listless with no excitement whatsoever.

chair slam at about 1:10

I am stating a fact. If the NCC coach wants to go back to Florida and turn himself in then that's up to him. I just wanted to make sure that the "crock" about anyone from Buffalo State making the aforementioned comment was addressed. It has been addressed..now it's time to get ready for SUNYAC play!
