Congrats to Gramps on Player of the Week honors two weeks running.  Way to go, Malcom, some really great games against top league competition.  Carthage is a dangerous place to play.  Sure hope my Titans get out of Kenosha with a W.  (Congrats too for Stephanie Kuzmanic, also Carthage, Player of the Week.  Well-deserved).

Augie could easily go 10-4 in league play -- but more likely 11-3.  So much more basketball to be played -- in the stretch run now with all seniors knowing the time is now.

Sorry about the return of the "polar vortex" again over there.  Warm, sunny and in the low 70s here in Hong Kong -- our Hong Kong "winter."  Three weeks into the teaching term, and now the Chinese New Year holiday break, so a week off soon for the Year of the Horse festivities.  Did I mention it?

Go TITANS!

yeah.. i actually took the silver lake and cardinal stritch games out, however, they would still have 8 losses because of the conference tourney lost that i left out :(
11-3 or win the conference tourney looks like the red men best chance

I just counted total games.  :(
An 11-3 record would mean the Wisconsin boys would have an excellent chance to not only play in, but to take the conference tourney which of course would mean automatic entry into the national tourney.
However, CC faces extremely tough challenges in games against IWU (2), Augie, and Wheaton. Additionally, NCC isn't about to roll over at home and will have payback in mind when the northerners invade Naperville. Accordingly, 11-3 will take some real doing.  ;)

70--

You're killing us. Just looked out the window a few minutes ago-----Snowflakes are falling.  :(

Sorry, AndOne, I'm feeling for you guys over there with the polar vortex and all.  Best to just stay inside and wait for Spring and Baseball.  At least you have some great CCIW games to watch, in person! inside.

We are spoiled in Hong Kong with a mild lovely dry winter, but then again we can't always breath the air either.  One's gotta accept ones trade-offs.  I do enjoy clean prairie air when in B/N at IWU in summer and fall each year.  When the snow flies, I fly.

Some more great basketball upcoming . . .

You mean that North Central isn't just going to lay down for Carthage.  I'm shocked.  That's why CCIW basketball is so great.   It's like a tournament game every Wednesday and Saturday and that's the way it should be.

It seems like most people already have the four teams that will make the conference tourney. And NCC is not one of the four.
Not so fast I say. Any team that has, All-American Landon Gamble, Vince Kmiec, and Jack Burchett, and a good supporting cast, shouldn't be forgotten.
I don't know the main reason for their 7 losses, but with all that talent, they could, and might go on a run to finish the season.
I just hope that run doesn't start tonight at the Shirk.
IWU seems to struggle trying to contain Landon Gamble, as do a lot of teams . When NCC has needed a bucket, he usually steps up and delivers.
I think it will be a close game tonight, usually is.

D3, I agree that NCC is an excellent team with some top-flight talent.  Gamble and Davis banging each other should be quite a clash.  I agree, too, that it will be a close game tonight.  Titans gotta protect home court.

IWU up by one at the half, @The Shirk, over NCC.

Mr. Ypsi

Very tight game for 30 minutes, but the Titans pulled away late to win 72-57. :)

Mr. Ypsi

5 Titans in double digits, led by Ziemnik's 18 and Mayberger's 14.  Kmiec (15) and Williams (14) were the only Cards in double digits.  Nick Anderson had a miserable outing, with 3 fouls in four minutes - he sat the rest of the game and did not score.

Carthage loses 73-70 at Elmhurst.  They were down as much as 22 in the second half.  Only led once in the game.

It was a back and forth game there for a moment, Ypsi, until the Titans pulled out. I had a feeling that the game was going to go a bit like that. Mike Mayberger is turning into a beast off the bench. Such a great kid; gotta love him.

I have to give NCC some love too. I always get antsy when we play them.

Go Titans!

Whoa, that's not the outcome I expected. Have to bring your A-game every time. Any team can win on any given night, especially if they catch their opponent slipping.
