This is the 20th year of IWU's Shirk Center (honestly, hard for me to believe).

While some schools have gyms that are slightly more than 20 years old, it would seem that at such a prestigious and wealthy institution as IWU, that a 20 year old facility would be close to being considered obsolete and ready for replacement.  :)

Might it not be time for a certain noteworthy alum to open his checkbook in preparation for the Quillman Center erection?  :)

Just bought a house in Dallas last week.  After the financials get squared away there, I'll be sitting down with IWU to talk about the QC.

Perhaps the new Taj Mahal of D3 gymnasiums and recreational centers will even have some seating with seatbacks and arms?  :-\

Spoken like a true old fogey. ;)

Buy your own stadium seat, Mark -- a red one with the NCC logo on it, as plenty of companies allow you to customize your order -- and bring it with you to the Quillman Center.

Just promise me that someone will take a video of you setting up your NCC chair in the Quillman Center to the shock and dismay of all of the green-clad people around you. :D

dont be so pessimistic ;)  While carthage has played a little up and down as Sager suggested, they have won 6 out of 7 since the opener at augie. That 1 loss being a complete no show in the first half against elmhurst.  The 2nd half of that game along with the other 6 confernce wins have been fairly adequate ;) Remember Malcom has really only been in the starting rotation since maybe the conference opener and even then was still feeling his way back it seemed.

You have seen as many games in this league as anyone, to call Carthage Jeckl and Hyde is also a scooch of an overreaction .  To win 6 of 7 in the cciw requires a pretty consistent effort.  The biggest issue I have with the Red Men is their inconsitency from possession to possession but from a game to game standpoint they have put together enough good minutes to put talented teams like: @millikin, npu twice, ncu, wheaton and IWU away.

The key for Carthage is Marlon Senior.  When Marlon is active both scoring and assisting that allows Malcom to be Malcom and the rest of the guys to slide into their roles.  Marlon had a rough nite against elmhurst?? BIG ONE tomorrow night!

Although I think you might be encouraging activity that could get me bumped off in Bloomington.  :-\

Greg, no promotional blizzard from me.  I"ll leave the blizzards and the winter to you'all there in the frigid Midwest.  I have no info or knowledge of the IWU-ISU grad assistant arrangement for the Titans.  Pretty sure though that there are no grad programs of any sort at IWU these days.  Used to be, but not now.  Used to be a law school, back in the day of my parents, and before.  Some grad programs in Music too.

Hard to believe The Shirk @20th, but there it is.  Some great games, great memories and such an incredible facility for the University and the community.  My thanks to the Shirk family for sure -- so keep eating those Beer Nuts.  More likely a new Center or Fine Arts Complex from the Shirk family that from our respected and rebuking Q.  His name isn't Rust after all.  Oh, sorry, I guess that was a bit of promotion for The Shirk.  It is an incredible Community asset.

Loved Q's all Shirk team and wouldn't argue with him very very much.  Some great players, teams and memories.  My favorites are Crabtree's shot over the backboard to get to Salem, the night Cory Koon scored 42 or whatever it was, and some of Adam Dauksas' antics when he seemed to see from the back of his head and also make half court running shots to end games or the first half.  Got lots of good memories of women's play there too, especially the Christina Solari years, the great play of Traci Butler, and, of course, the Titans run to the national title with Olivia Lett becoming National Player of the Year.  Many many other great, fun players to watch over the two decades of play now at The Shirk.  For all time Titan play, especially from my era, the Tommy Gramkow pull-up to beat ISU in the last game, last shot, still is my overall Titan history favorite, but that was at the old Horton at ISU, not at The Shirk.  We had great times in those years following the Titans to Kansas City, not Salem.  An undefeated CCIW season -- IWU70.

Two biggies tonight:

* Wheaton (6-2) @ Augustana (5-3) - Wheaton could lose this game and still be very much in the championship race (the Thunder will be done with games in Kenosha, Bloomington, and Rock Island after tonight), but this is a big-time "must win" for Augie.  A loss by the Vikings would not only just about end their chances of winning the CCIW title, but it would start to bring Elmhurst or North Central into the CCIW tournament picture.

* Carthage (6-2) @ North Central (3-5) - NCC is coming off that big win in Rock Island and this would seem to be a tough road game for the Red Men.  I feel like this is pretty close to a "must win" for Carthage if they want to win the league.

IWU offers no graduate degrees at any level these days, and has not for a long time.
You'll never walk alone.

AndOne

1.1 inches of snow in Naperville last night and so far this morning. Snowing steadily right now. 3-5 more inches predicted during the day. A slight respite is supposed to occur between aprox noon and 2 PM, with snow resuming at 2:00 and continuing until around 8:00. I believe conditions are the same throughout the Chicagoland area. Appears there may be a possibility of having to postpone some of the games scheduled for this evening. It also seems possible that some of tonight's traveling teams might make it to their destination and be able to play, but then have to spent the night in the host city and return home tomorrow. Even if its not snowing at the time, snow blowing across the interstates can present a real danger as we are all aware.
Fingers crossed for safe travels.

According to the CCIW homepage, so has Elmhurst @ Millikin (http://cciw.org/).
