Jekyll and hyde  is a .500 team with tons of talent... this group of RedMen is not that on either front.  With the exception of Malcom Kelly this teams was picked in the bottom half of the league.  Malcom has given them a #1 option offensively but I still believe Bosko has done a great job with this group to be 7-2 in this league...  Even in the non league games they were in everygame to win it, with the exception of at hope.  This teams has wins @calvin, wash u, IWU, Wheaton, UW Platteville.... where r their bad losses???? Dubuque?? ok but I believe they are a couple loss team?

Winning on the road in the CCIW is not easy. Did they have a 7pt lead, yes.  Did they turn it over, yes.  Do they take bad shots, yes.... but all in all this group is playing together and for each other and I am proud of my school for this teams effort!!!!

Do you even know where the term 'Jekyl and Hyde' comes from?  Jekyl and Hyde has nothing to do with a team's record....it has to do with their personality.  Look it up.  Forget it, I did it for you.  "One who has a dual personality that alternates between phases of good and evil behavior."  Dr. Jeykl was a mild mannered, a pacifist.  Mr. Hyde was his murdering evil side.  This team can play like world-beaters, ie beating four ranked teams, and then lose to Elmhurst or Buffalo State.  A team that can beat Calvin at home by 6 one night and lose to Hope by almost 20 the next.  Hell, they are Jekyl and Hyde in most games!  Look at the differences between the first and second halves of @NPU, @Elmhurst, at home vs. NPU, just to name a few.  Watch the offense in those games.  Too much standing around, not enough flow.

I just wish this team were more Mr. Hyde...ie, put their foot on people's throats and bury them.

That has nothing to do with effort...don't mistake the two.  I have never said this team didn't play hard or put forth a tremendous effort.  I did say that they play to the level of their competition...and when you do that in this league, you're going to lose one or two that, on paper, you probably shouldn't have.  It's already happened once.

Carthage was picked, i believe, 5th or 6th, in the preseason coaches poll.  I dont think they are playing down to any level.  Not many that follow this league would have thought they could contend for a league title with the team they have. Ur jekyl and hyde explanation is a bad one and just leave it at that.  Name a team is Div III that doesnt have a head scratching loss or play 5 minutes of bad ball??? it happens everywhere in the country...
Carthage is playing at a championship level right now, if your a fan, enjoy.   If not save your jekyl and hyde for another squad.... :) These guys are balling. 14-6 7-2.

We'll I enjoyed the YouTube video by Wheaton's coach! Please everyone come out it will be my last time playing in that arena. I don't believe they will be hosting the conference tournament. Wednesday after the game I'll be answering questions for those who may have any.. So follow me on twitter @MkellyRedmen25. Thanks!!!

I want Carthage to win this league so that there are three leagues with Wisconsin based D-3 champions.

WIAC:  Stevens Point
MWC:  St. Norbert
NACC:  Marian

Carthage winning the CCIW would make 4, so you've got that going for you.

CarthageGuy, quite a few on this board had Carthage higher if/when Gramps/Malcom returned.  He is a difference maker for sure . . . and Senior has played a lot better than most of us knew or expected.  Still some key games to be played, so let's not get ahead of ourselves.  CC could easily still finish 10-4 or 9-5.  If they win the league, my hat will be off to them.  No easy path for any team.  Plus, the AQ will surely be up for grabs with the top 4 teams going at it that last weekend in the CCIW tourney.

IWU70 makes a very valid point. The Redmen are a very different team with Gramps Kelly. A fact that was recognized by many of the board's knowledgeable posters. And, as 70 additionally points out, the road ahead for CC certainly has several potholes that might derail the Carthage Express.  :D

Malcom (Gramps)

Looks like the nickname I gave you has stuck.  8-)
Now I know you can stay up later than the younger kids, but its time to get off here and get started on that paper.  ;)
I won't say good luck because I don't think you'll need it.

Now, AndOne, give credit where it is due. ;)

He was not at all pleased when you first nicknamed him.  Then I explained to him that it was actually an affectionate term bestowed for at least a hundred years in baseball (though the players would presumably be a lot older than 27!), and he should feel honored, not dissed.  THEN he adopted it! ;D

Indubitably, Mr. Ypsi!

CCIW goal by AndOne with the BIG assist to Mr. Ypsi.  ;D (I just finished watching the Hawks game)  ;)

IWU JV over Aurora 103-42 or some such.  Sure looks like the Titans will reload, not rebuild, even with the 6 key and accomplished seniors departing in the Class of '14.  So much talent being developed, waiting in the wings for their chance on the big stage -- and hopefully Rossi and Mussleman getting healthy and returning too.  Oh, please please let it be so!

IWU "green glasses" '70

iwu70

New poll, IWU up to #5.  Wash U at #4.  Amherst and Wooster dropping down.  Augie down to #23, Wheaton still getting some love in ORVs.  No love for Gramps and his Carthage squad.  Sorry Gramps.  More time to go.  I think Augie drops out of the top 25 with another loss or two.

Carthage women still flying high.

Again, you're talking overall body of work and I'm talking game to game.  If you don't think they're playing down to anyone's level, how do you explain being down by 14 at the half against Elmhurst or the both lackluster games against North Park (minus the second half at home last week).

Ur jekyl and hyde explanation is a bad one and just leave it at that.
Only because you are to obtuse to understand it.

I'll give you four teams...Stevens Point, Cabrini, St. Norbert, and Brockport State.

14-6 could easily be 17-3 if they were playing at a championship level son.

I know Wash U is on a nice win streak, but no way they are the 4th best team in the country. I am of the opinion they'd finish no better than 3rd in the CCIW.

It looks like Carthage came out of orv after a road win at ncu and home win vs north park?? At least there will be no arguments about Carthage Sid calling them #35 or so.
