I think Pat Coleman is amazing playing for Elmhurst, maintaining a high GPA and running a website like this.   ;)

Carthage played much better tonight...  I really like them pressuring the perimeter the way they did tonight... Did the fact that the CCIW with 4 of the top 6 teams in the region surprise anyone??

Does Carthage still have a solid chance at a bid with L, W finish.... they are gonna have a conference tourney loss as well???

Carthage can hang on to hope with 8 losses, but not with 9.  They need to beat IWU for a chance at a Pool C.

I was surprised by the Top 4 in 6 in the Regional Rankings.  Rose Holman could end up in there, but the others in the region have issues (4 losses and no RRO wins).

Ron Rose & Eric Dortch WJBC postgame - http://www.stationcaster.com/player_skinned.php?s=711&c=3911&f=2430703

* Jordan Nelson: 18 pts (5-7 FG), 2 reb, 2 assists
* Dylan Overstreet: 17 pts (5-6 FG), 6 reb, 2 assists
* Eric Dortch: 15 pts (7-8 FG), 3 reb

* Landon Gamble: 17 pts, 3 reb
* Jack Burchett: 16 pts, 6 reb
* Brandon Williams: 16 pts, 7 reb, 4 assists
* Vince Kmiec: 15 pts, 6 reb

Overall, I thought IWU played very well tonight in Naperville.  The Titans did a nice job throwing a lot of different players at Landon Gamble, and at least made him work extremely hard for everything he got.  Gamble has been a tremendous player in the CCIW and I'm glad that is the last time IWU has to deal with him.

Jordan Nelson had another big game off the bench for the Titans - he's really settling into his role.  He is quite a difference maker for the Titans...he really stretches the defense, and is just such a great shooter.  Nelson is now averaging 10.8 ppg in CCIW play and is 24-61 (.393) from 3, and 19-21 (.905) from the FT line.

Dylan Overstreet was very good tonight, as was Eric Dortch - Dortch just always provides such great energy.

Key road win for IWU to stay in the hunt.

IWU-80  Bench points-40  I think I can do the math. Half of IWU's points were scored by non-starters, a familiar story line this season. But you just know which bench player it will be. It's hard to improve on Eric Dortch's line: 7/8 with several very athletic moves to score artistic post shots, 3 RBs, 15 points and only 1 TO in just 18 minutes, in addition to harassing Gamble who scored 17 in 37 minutes. I thought Dortch was IWU's MVP tonight And Jordan Nelson was also outstanding as was Overstreet. IWU's best player, Andrew Ziemnik, scored 5 and IWU still managed a 12-point victory in a tough venue. IWU seems to be peaking at the right time (FG% = .56 and 3-point % = .45). NCC had 4 bench points. The attendance was 875, respectful for a Wed. night game.

Yes, big Titan win on the road tonight.  Great job by Coach Rose and especially the bench players.  Very outstanding game by Eric Dortch tonight.  Now it's Wheaton's turn to see if they can get a win @NCC.  They had little trouble with NPU on the road.  Nelson is really contributing, no doubt. Overstreet got all the way to the rim so many times tonight as it seems the NCC interior D and rotation was almost non-existent.   Zman starting slow most games, seems a bit in a shooter's slump.  He seemed a bit out of snyc, out of kilter, tonight.  Time for everyone to be in sync, for everyone to contribute.  I'm with Q in admiring Gamble and his game as a great CCIW player, but glad to see the back side of him . . . Kmiec too, for that matter.  Some great games vs. those guys over the past few years.  Game at King should be a good one, no matter.  Titans now 19-3, 9-2.  Keep it rolling TITANS!

I think in Nelson, Mayberger, Dortch, and Dolan, the Titans have to have the strongest rotational bench players anywhere in D3  (Yes, I know Mayberger is now starting).  So that means Marietti is a bench/rotational player in the new, mostly 9 person rotation.  Zimmer and Anderson waiting in the wings, there when needed.  Amazing.

remember the lost to Cardinal Stritch wont count against Carthage ;D

I haven't seen it reported here yet so, in other CCIW news:

Augie 76
Millikin 59

Elmhurst 56
Carthage 76

Wheaton 103
NPU 66

Since GS is absent on here when Wheaton plays The Park (in theory because there hasn't been much to report) I will mention that 4 Wheaton players were in double digits and none of them were Tyler Peters (Teuscher 18, Haynes 15, DeMoss 21, Fisher 14). Wheaton went out 24-4 early and it was pretty much over. Juwan Henry had 22 and Michael Hutchinson 16 to lead NPU.

Juwan Henry: 20 pts, 4:2 a:to
engaging in shoves with said Cardinal that led to a second tech for Henry and, thus, an automatic ejection that will force him to miss Wednesday's game against Wheaton, as per NCAA-mandated rules.

So, it appears either there is no NCAA rule stating that if a player is ejected from a game after receiving 2 techs he must miss the next game, or North Park broke a NCAA rule by playing Juwan Henry last night.  :-\

I know.  I looked through the first regional rankings and my take is that, if the season ended today, Carthage would not get a Pool C.

To get a Pool C, I think they have to beat IWU.

Otherwise, they have to get a Pool A.

Of the 42 conferences getting autobids, 30 conference leaders are represented in the regional rankings.  So are Pool B candidates Centre and Oglethorpe.   What's left are 33 teams for 20 Pool C bids.  Carthage and Augie are better than a lot of them and I would like Augie's chances, but not so much Carthage's.  Wheaton was my Pool A and IWU would be the 2nd Pool C chosen (behind UW-Whitewater).

AndOne... the NCAA does not have that rule per two technical fouls. They do have rules regarding flagrant fouls and ejections especially for fighting, but not two techs.

Duly noted, thank you.
There was no fighting in conjunction with the Henry ejection nor any flagrancy beyond the bounds of the 2 "regular" technicals assessed to him. Accordingly, it appears no rules were broken by having him participate last night.
