Keep it rolling Titans -- and enjoy senior night.  My warm congratulations and thanks to Nick Anderson, Eric Dortch, Vic Davis, Jordan Zimmer, Andrew the Zman, and Mike Mayberger.  You guys are all appreciated by the Titan nation.

Yes, Brady Zimmer.   My apologies.   I guess I was just hoping for past glories, to have that mediocre trey shooter back. :)

Go Titans.

I absolutely mean this with all the respect this group deserves: I cannot wait until they are gone.

By the way, what a great quote from Coach Rose.

As was the case with the NPU @ MU women's game, I'm watching a series of snapshots from tonight's game in Buffertown Decatur.

I'm surprised that some Wheatie hasn't driven a truck bomb into Merner Fieldhouse at some point over the years.

NCC shoots 65% from the field for the game!

Final: IWU 80, Carthage 66.

They announced the NCC/Wheaton score just before the game ended - I though the Shirk roof might blow off! ;D

Whew! Glad this game is over. The red men had me seeing red for a minute there.  ;) Ton of fouls called tonight. Watching the calls was a game within itself.

I feel bad about missing senior night, but my daughter and her best friend/co-captain qualified for Sectionals this weekend. Coach Bird had to be there.  It's been a joy watching the guys play. Hard to believe they are seniors. It's a bittersweet time for us moms.

Take care of home court and bring home a W next week!

Go Titans!!!!!!

Play the best to be the best.

Dylan Overstreet was the MAN tonight, with 18 points and masterful ball-handling.  Vic Davis added 16, with 8 rebounds.  Pat Sodemann chipped in 11.  I think everyone on the roster saw the floor tonight, though, quite rightfully, the emphasis was on the seniors (junior Dylan should be ashamed of himself, stealing the spotlight on seniors' night ;D).

Big win for the Titans, 80-66 over the Redpeople.  Nice to see that WC went down, so things are really looking up for our Titans.  Wonderful senior night all 'round, men and women.

Overstreet 18
Davis 16
Sodemann 11
Zimmer good minutes off the bench, 9
Nelson 9, struggling a bit from treyville

Titans shoot 23-40 and 10 treys in 19 attempts.

52 total fouls called.  Ugly.  So much for the new rules improving the flow of the game.

Gramps got his, 25, but Titans did a much better job on the others, especially Senior.

Congrats to Coach Rose and all the Titans, especially the seniors, on a 20 win season.

Keep it rolling.

Millikin 99, North Park 81

Juwan Henry: 39 pts (5-9 trey)
Michael Hutchinson: 9 rebs
Joe Biko: 7 rebs

Jacob Kueker: 30 pts (6-7 trey)
Deavis Johnson: 26 pts, 15 rebs, 5:4 a:to
Tives Gardner: 14 pts
Parker Day: 11 pts

It was Senior Night for Millikin, but it was apparently Defense Optional Night for North Park. The Big Blue came out playing like they meant it, running the Vikings off the floor in the early going for a 25-6 lead six and a half minutes deep into the ballgame. Even Deavis Johnson was running the floor and getting easy transition baskets. That early run was pretty much what decided the game; NPU did get the deficit down into single digits on a couple of occasions, but the Vikings were never really in the game. In a battle of two bad teams that were each minus a star player, Millikin just plain outhustled North Park most of the night and looked like the much better outfit of the two.

MU came into the game averaging an even 68 points per game. The only time that the Big Blue had broken the 90-point mark was a 93-77 win over a terrible Blackburn team -- and that was when the Decaturites still had the services of T.J. Griffin. Give credit to Millikin for making the shots, but NPU's defense had the consistency of wet tissue paper. Jacob Kueker went off from treyland, but there wasn't a Viking within five feet of him on most of his attempts from downtown.

At the other end of the floor, the fans were treated to the "stand around and watch Juwan" offense from NPU all night. I'm pretty sure that that's not what Tom Slyder diagrammed, but that's what the Vikings played. Nobody other than Joe Biko was looking to shoot, and he was off tonight. But to Juwan Henry's credit, he really did rise to the occasion. He was fantastic tonight, as nothing that Matt Nadelhoffer did to try to slow him down came close to working. The freshman from Bogan went 11-21 from the field, and he scored in a whole bunch of ways: Treys, pullups, layups, free throws, scoop shots -- you name it. Henry's 39 points tonight probably guarantees him the CCIW scoring title, and now the only question is whether or not the other seven coaches in the league will put a freshman who played for the last-place team on the All-CCIW first team or if he'll be relegated to second-team status.

Two more games to endure, and then it's time to focus on recruiting. Actually, at this point that's where most of my attention is, anyway.
