When I think about it, what else could have happened to make it better?

Beating Elmhurst at Elmhurst comes to my mind immediately!   ;D

Well, that.  I'm talking big-time moments though.  And the IWU game at Carthage was big time.  Great crowd, great game, great win.  Best game since the 2009 tournament final.

Well, some tough games, as always, for the CCIW contenders.  No easy games, no easy nights now.  At least IWU gets to play at home so I hope they bounce back from the big loss to WC at home and take better advantage of the "home court" advantage.  They gotta be mad, a bit embarrassed about that one.  Hope they play with a chip on the shoulder now, as it's all win or go home at this stage.  St. Norbet is a very good team, so that one will be a challenge for sure.  Looks to me like another Sweet 16 match up with Wash U if they both get through tough 1st, especially 2nd round games.  So, Wash U vs. IWU at Sweet 16 or Elite 8 level, what else is new?  Ron Rose and Mark Edwards have all been there before, a number of times.

Sorry Carthage didn't get in.

Really really disappointed the IWU women didn't get in.  A travesty, given their schedule and resume.  (I know, you don't like cross postings of the women's game here).  Just move on.

Good luck Titans, and good luck to all the CCIW entrants in the dance.  Let's really make some noise.

Very VERY strange bye for Emory, who should not be in the tournament.  IMHO.  Bean counters rule.  Sad.  NCAA should invest more in DIII.

Seems to me Wheaton got a pretty good draw, could get to the Sweet 16 out of that pod, especially the way they are playing just now.  I'll be cheering for all the CCIW teams to do well.

Bopol: You proved my point. IWU is the #1 target for the other 7 CCIW teams. St. Norbert is really, really good.  They start three 6"1' senior guards, and a 6"5' sophomore and a 6"6' senior (240 lb.) post players. They have excellent depth with three reserves average 10.6, 16.2 & 4.9 ppg. Their team FT % is an unheard of .786 (hard to do that in practice), their FG % is an equally amazing .532 and their 3-point % is a gaudy .443. Their only loss was a home loss to Whitewater by 11. Senior dominated teams are usually the best. From the stats, they are extremely dangerous in the first half. Kam Cerroni, a senior guard, is their shooting star with a .547 3-point % (93/170) and a FT % of .915 (65/71-Korey Coon numbers). I'm rooting for the Battling Bishops in the 5:30 game Friday! I think Wheaton has a decent chance to win the Hope pod.

Why should Emory not be in the tournament??

Mr. Ypsi

I thought Emory was certainly tourney-worthy, though not bye-worthy.  To me the strangest selection was Bowdoin, who totally collapsed at the end of the season.  (Though I do have a soft spot for the school I strongly considered attending, and is only 25-30 miles from our cabin.  Glad they're in, hope they do well, but don't understand it.)

Absolutely.  I think everyone that made some type of educated Pool C guess, based on the criteria, had Emory in.  Not sure where IWU70 is coming from.

That's only like 8000 miles away.  Most of the time 70 is coming from farther away than that.

Not dealing with 15+ mile traffic jam stuck on icy I-45 !  Hope you and Rosemary avoided that!

I only posted about MEN's and women's basketball.  Since I was accused of posting it only because IWU was the top dog, I'll add the full weekend results for MEN's and women's tournament action:

Wheaton 2-1
Carthage 2-1
IWU       2-2
Augie     0-1
Elmhurst 0-1

Wheaton got a decent draw. I think it's a little unfair Hope is hosting instead of Wheaton but the Thunder have to feel like they can compete with anyone on any floor after playing the schedule they played.  Should be a fun weekend.
