Any reason why James Lazarcik is not one of the All-Stars. He led the nation in shooting percentage; maybe until the last game.

On the off chance that you're not trolling, basically everyone on that list is a conference player of the year.

Is that a prerequisit?

Congratulations to Tyler Peters on his selection to the 2014 NABC Coaches Division III All American First team.  Well deserved accolade to be sure.

Regarding the "East vs. West" monikers on the All-Star teams... they abandoned the actual geographic set-up a few years ago, like they did when Williams and Amherst refused to play in the game (though, I think it went a year longer, but memory is fuzzy - I also thought MIT had a roll in that since they had to get back for classes, but that might have been the year it had already been abandoned). To that, the NABC didn't want to keep holding a couple of spots for the semifinalists to play in the game if they would refuse and thus leave others out of the game.

The East vs. West was done away with because in reality it was hard to determine what was the actual dividing line and the South region could be on both sides. The names are just the names... they try and even out the rosters with equal talent and have some fun with the game. One of my best memories was watching St. Mary's (MD) guard Alex Franz teamed up with Whitworth guard Michael Taylor. They put on a show and we would have never seen them on the same team otherwise.

I had been a proponent of adding the game and getting rid of the consolation game because for many reasons I liked the fact the two semifinal losers got a chance to play again after the trip to Salem and their seniors had a chance to play as well. However after one year having a team pretty much not care about the game and treat it with disrespect... coupled wih the fact the all-star game was awesome from the first opening tip... I love the fact the all-star game is now part of the weekend. It is also good, because with so many men's coaches in attendance... they get a chance to bring in additional coaches to experience the Salem weekend and the championship day has a great lead act. Too bad the women will never figure that out.

I still think it'd be more fun if the rosters retained at least some semblance of regionality. It would be great to get some back-and-forth going with the NESCAC fans over the All-Star game if it involved some actual bragging rights.

Yes, nice piece on Vic Davis and the Titans -- thanks Pat, thanks D3hoops.com    Congrats to Tyler Peters on his most recent award.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Go TITANS!

IWU70

P.S.  JoeHakes, I'm in for the D3hoops.com posters All-Star game.  Are you providing the wheel chairs and the attending nurses?  There would probably be too too many over-the-hill Titans for such a game.  ms

Nice piece from a local news station on Brady Zimmer...

IWU has been lucky to have the Zimmers part of the basketball program and the campus.

I will NEVER forget Jordan Zimmer in OT in Holland!

Can we possibly have a Brady Zimmer time like that?

iwu70

Ypsi, you are right, that was really something -- Jordan Zimmer during that OT in Holland.  A memorable Titan moment to be sure.

Warm Congrats to Zman on 1st Team and Vic Davis on 2nd Team Regional Honors as named by the Coaches.  Also Peters and Gamble, from CCIW, with Peters named the Regional Player of the Year in the Midwest.  Good stuff -- for all.  Congratulations to these seniors, to these programs.

Any further assessment, analysis by anyone on WI-Whitewater -- for the good of the cause this weekend??

How about an All-Star game between D3hoops posters?   It would obviously be extremely well played, and excellently self-coached and self-officiated.

I would pay to see that one.

I've started assembling a team.

We have stout survivor, Jacob Nonemacher 7'0", former UW-Stout player. Yours truly...I'm 5'3" and never played competitive basketball before, aside from YMCA when I was a kid. Then current (mostly) lurker, BanditUWSP, Bill Koehler (height and basketball experience unknown) and then last and not least, our very own John Gleich, Stevens Point alumnus. I think he's 6'9".

Greek T, this looks like the Breed of a Champion!  One role player and you are the early favorites!

I follow both leagues and have strong ties to both but put me on the WIAC roster.  6'4", about a buck eighty five

Warm congrats to Titan Nick Anderson on his Elite 89 award -- second time! -- as the top STUDENT-athlete participating in the NCAA D3 Final Four Championships.  3.97 GPA is not too too shabby.  Love Nick's game and love Nick's brain.

Is it really true there's no video stream of the semi-final games from Salem, only audio?  Say it isn't so.  CBS Sports pre-empting all of us outside the country?

GO TITANS -- play your best this weekend.
