Decided or not our staff is definitely under the impression that we'll be playing NCC.  Why I don't know.  I just know that they are.

Personally I wonder if we would even participate if we were going to play Bluffton and Trinity.

1. Isn't that a bit disrespectful to Bluffton and Trinity??

I suppose one could take it that way.  I know absolutely nothing about either.  The point is that the main reason we're playing is to play NCC, not Bluffton or Trinity.

The Shirk Center arena is getting a facelift. Newly refurbished floor and much brighter lights. But the same bleacher seats unfortunately. Big basketball news in Bloom'ton-Normal is the dominance of the Central Illinois Net Gain AAU team that beat the Chicago Wolves, a national AAU powerhouse, at Riverside-Brookfield. CING features 6'5' Gavin Block from Lincoln H.S. (a D1 player probably) and a trio of Normal Community H.S. players.

Can't replace the seats there, the beer nut holders are just the right size.  ;)

WHEATON IS RANKED #2 ;D

According to the Princeton Review, WHEATON is #2 in the country in the category of.............................. Stone-Cold Sober Schools.
The CrusadersThunder are exceeded only by BYU.  :D  :)

Thanks, Q, for the rundown on the returning squads for this coming season.

I'm re-emerging now from my summer travels, wonderful road trip east, southeast, south and west.  One great big beautiful country out there.  Was grand to see so many old friends from my IWU, United Methodist, Yale-China, and Chinese University connections, esp. so many of my former students doing so so well in many fields of endeavor.  I'm been on the road since April 23rd and only stayed in a motel three nights -- so you can see how wonderful my reunions and visits have been.  Just great to see so many Titans and classmates all over the country. (Yes, my Mother calls this grand tour my "mooch tour," staying with old friends and former students all over the country).  Total, I drove 13,000+ miles.  Channeling "Travels with Charlie" and Mssr. Jack Kurouac.

In looking at Q's rundown, sure looks like Augie and Millikin should be favored?  LOL.  But, I'll take my bets on the Titans again this coming season, my green glasses surely still fully in place.  The strength of the returning perimeter players is pretty awesome.  Coach Rose will have to solve the issues of new and returning front court players, with my bet on Seibring and Marietti, with perhaps Coyle and Heyen competing for the 3.

Q, any word on the possibility of Rossi returning?  (Yes, I'm persistent on him, as I'd love to see him return).

Should be an interesting season, with all the newbies to be considered and a new array of starting players for most teams, save for Augie and Millikin.  They both have everyone coming back, so one would expect improvements, esp. in the young Millikin cast of characters.  Time will tell.

Happy late summer's charms to all CCIW chatsters.  Warm greetings from Mile High -- seeing the Rockies play the Cubbies tomorrow evening.  I'll tip one east in honor of all the CCIW chatsters.

Football first, then another great CCIW basketball season.

The Princeton Review's lists are absolutely meaningless, as they only cover a small sample of schools (379 of them). I can name a whole bunch of schools that are more "stone-cold sober" than either Wheaton or BYU.

I will be looking forward to the CCIW being "stone cold" in games vs. WIAC or MWC foes.

Interesting news as Duncan Robinson (from Williams College, Nat'l Freshman of the Year, D3Hoops 4th Team All-American) is transferring to Michigan and will take their only remaining available scholarship.

Quite the jump.

It has been the primary focus of conversation on the nescac board lately.  I just thought to check over here since you have a regular poster I believe is a Michigan fan who contributes on our board quite a bit during the season and I wondered what his thoughts on the matter were.  Many doubters and a few more optimistic on the young man's chances for success.  This is a good analysis of how it all happened.

Mr. Ypsi

I saw Duncan Robinson in Salem - he is definitely legit!

Right now his only real drawback is a rather slight physique.  But a year of bulking up should solve that.  I see no reason he can't be a solid player, perhaps even a star.

Q, any word on a Rossi return?

And, what about the summer work, the newbies or the returnees, bulking up, getting ready to compete for playing time.  I saw a picture the other day on FB of Spencer Seibring, along with Katy and Trevor, and it looks like Spencer has put on about an additional 3+ inches.  Is it so?  He looked even taller than Spencer.  Perhaps he was standing on a pile of Beer Nuts or something.

In Denver now, last leg of my long western swing of the epic US road trip.  Enjoyed the pre-season game, Broncos vs. Seahawks, which the Broncos won.  Also enjoyed last eve a most amazing concert -- yes, Carlos Santana and his band for two hours, then Rod Stewart and his talented back-ups for two hours, at Fiddler's Green, south of Denver.  Even a Santana-Rod Stewart duet -- totally amazing.  Something you don't see every day.  Santana has to be one of the greats ever on the electric guitar, right up there with Jimmie Hendrix and Charley Byrd.  Sure did enjoy the ambiance, and didn't even have to breathe very deeply to feel even more high in Mile High.

Heading back to Minneapolis, then on to B/N and IWU by August's end.  Summer drawing to a conclusion, with fall football coming very soon now.  Record numbers of new international students arriving at IWU in the next few days.  Shall we press for the beginnings of ping pong and badminton in the CCIW soon?  :)

Go TITANS!
