Yes, it's true, I'm a fan of Heyen and hope his surgery goes well, he gets back into playing shape and has a shot at some playing time in 2015.  He's been injured so much and still been loyal to the program, so I think he deserves his shot.  It's not that the Titans are exactly deep or all that talented with candidates for the 3.  I'll be happy to be surprised, Q, but no one is really singing the praises of the other candidates there so far -- and most have talked about a three guard set-up, not using a traditional 3.  You say we have talent there, and that we'll be surprised, but I just don't see it so far.    All talk I've heard is Coyle at the 4.  Let's hope someone else rises up and surprises at the 3.  We all know Marietti and Seibring will be key in the post.  Any any thoughts on all that?

About two + weeks now 'til opening night.  Should be interesting.

Football has been a bummer this year, a disappointment.

Seems the pre-CCIW portion will be really important for the Titans this year to find their new identity, to bring in a variety of new players into the starting rotation, especially in the front court.  Pre-season rankings too high for the Titans, IMHO.

To be clear, I'm not saying IWU has an Andrew Ziemnik-like/combo forward type option at the 3.  But I'm confident IWU has several good players who will do well at the 3 -- whether they are "guards" or "wings" or "forwards" or whatever you want to call them.

In the last 5 years, Ron Rose has had both a SG type at the 3 (Jordan Zimmer), as well as pure "forwards" (Ziemnik, John Koschnitzky).  IWU's offense works with both types of 3s.

The 4 is still the biggest question for me.

Does anyone have any word on any CCIW-related exhibitions/scrimmages prior to the start of the season?  I need a fix.

NCC SCRIMMAGES:

1. 10/29 vs. Concordia-Chicago @ 6:30

2. 11/6 vs. U of Chicago @ 7:00

Both at home in Naperville

Hard to believe, but it seems that the Wednesday, 10/29 scrimmage between NCC and Concordia-Chicago is actually AT CONCORDIA @ 6:30, ;D

The Carthage web site indicates "2014-2015 Roster." That would seem to indicate a complete roster. As of today, many rosters are what I would refer to as "partial," in that all the players are listed, but some players don't have numbers shown yet. The players that fall into this category are freshman, transfers, and other new players in the program. However, they are still listed even though the current roster is certainly not the final version. Both the North Central and IWU rosters are currently posted in this manner. Accordingly, it makes sense that if any new players were going to be a part of the team this year, they would already be listed.

Carrying this likelihood further, it would seem that most schools would be very anxious to publicize their new players and as such, would naturally make sure to include them on the various school's web site rosters as soon as possible. Lastly, official practice has begun. It's not like a school is still waiting to see if a kid is going to play or not.  ;)

Mark, what Carthage is doing in carrying forward last season's returnees for a preliminary 2014-15 roster is very typical of D3 schools, as both Pat and Bob have pointed out. What you're overlooking is the fact that the posting of rosters is a function of a school's Sports Information department. In D3, SI departments are bare-bones affairs, often just an SID and perhaps either a GA or an undergrad student assistant or two. And that department has to handle the needs of every varsity sport on campus, not just men's basketball.

We are still in the fall season. SIDs and their assistants (if they have any) are hip-deep right now in dealing with football, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's cross-country, etc. Winter sports are not a priority at the moment in terms of a D3 SI department's time and energy, nor should they be.

Carthage SID Steve Marovich is a highly accomplished and experienced SID who doesn't neglect his duties. Just chill out for a few more days, Mark. The full Carthage roster will be up eventually.

Thanks, Q.  Given the talent IWU has now, seems the three guard set-up is the most likely.  Yes, I also have questions at the 4.  Marietti and Seibring are both big guys who see the floor, pass the ball, and run the court well.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to see both on the floor at the same time (with the three guards + Dolan with big minutes).

Congrats to Mssr. Overstreet on pre-season All-American honors.

Season coming on soon now.

Heard that IWU may have gotten together with Olivet for a scrimmage last evening. If so, does anyone have any details--starters, scoring, players missing due to injury?

I heard Alex Rossi played.  The source is pretty bad though.

Re: the Peters' YT video, what are all those lines (and a dashed line) on that court?  How many sports does that court host?  I'm thinking Hoops, Vball, Bandy and ?

Is Bandy badminton?

Perhaps also Team Handball. No idea what those lines would look like. :)

Bandy is in the same family as Hockey - played on a soccer field sized ice surface.  Inne-Bandy (inside Bandy) is the indoor equivalent and you use a plastic ball somewhat like a whiffle ball.
