After a rough opener, the Titans will really be tested again tonight in Jacksonville.  Buena Vista is the favorite in the IIAC and they are probably the biggest team IWU will face this year.

Should have a pretty good idea where the Titans are after this one.

Titans up 36-33 at the half in a slugfest vs. BV in Jacksonville.  Coyle and Overstreet in double figures, I believe.

Titans up three, 6 minutes to go.  A total slugfest.

Titans surge to a good win, over BV 76-63.  Overstreet with 15 I think, Ryan Coyle with 24.  Coyle surely player of the game.  Finally had some treys go down in the last 4-5 minutes by Overstreet, Sodemann and Dolan.  Nelson ice cold still.  Didn't shot it all that well overall.  Seibring played strong in the post area, Marietti too for some moments of the second half.  Some good bench contributions by Bausch and Pennington.  This was a slugfest, many fouls in both first and second half.  Nice to get one in the winning column.  Another game in Jacksonville tomorrow at 4 p.m., likely vs. Illinois College.

IWU was down 50-44 with 11:14 to play.  Ron Rose called timeout and the Titans proceeded to go on a 17-3 run to take control of the game.  Dylan Overstreet and Ryan Coyle made big plays during that run, and IWU got very good minutes out of Alec Bausch and Joel Pennington.

The Titans got 42 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists from guys who played on the JV team last year (Coyle, Seibring, Stempel, Bausch, Pennington, and Mahlke).

This was a solid win over the IIAC favorite.  The Titans face host Illinois College tomorrow in the championship game at 4:00pm.

The Titans surely looked more like normal IWU basketball yesterday, especially in that last 7-8 minute run.  Better ball movement, some key treys, and a more intense defensive effort.  The game today vs. Illinois College another good test.

Well, Ryan Coyle really playing well so far.  Making a believer out of me.  Sure would like to see Nelson start to light it up a bit more.  Very slow start.  Sodemann too for that matter.  Hope Marietti's hand is OK, not a serious injury.

Wheaton vs. Wash U -- that should be a really good one!

IWU Women's soccer in the Sweet Sixteen today vs. U of Chicago.  IWU Women at Steven's Point in the first of two tough games vs. bigger WIAC teams -- Point and then Whitewater at home.

Men and women's openers @The Shirk Tuesday night, women vs. WW and men playing MSOE.

GO TITANS!

Q, thanks for all the links to the most recent set of scores in the CCIW.

IWU up 51-32 over IC at the half

This is more like it, some offensive production.  No Nelson?

Brady Rose seeing his first varsity minutes.  Dolan on fire.

Last night the NCC Cardinals got their season started on a positive note with a 17 point win over Trinity International. Senior forwards Jack Burchett and Charlie Rosenberg led the way with 24 and 25 points respectively. Burchett added 14 rebounds to register a double-double. The Burchett-Rosenberg duo is going to cause opponents fits throughout the season.
Card's Freshman Joe Kennell got his college career off on a very positive note, hitting his only field goal attempt, a 3 ball, and going a perfect 8 for 8 from the line down the stretch to seal the victory. To top things off, Joe  played a great floor game, handling the ball well under strong pressure, and dishing out 5 helpers whie not committing a single TO.

Score 78+, IWU normally wins. Final in Jacksonville, IWU 89, IC 64.  Titans win the two game tournament.

Big big game today by Bryce Dolan, at least 5-6 treys, overall good floor game.  Strong game, better FT shooting by Trevor Seibring.  He's a tough tough kid down low.  Titans scored at will, penetrated well and kick out for open threes.  Way way too much for the Blueboys today.  Titans finding their rhythm.  Nice contributions from the second group, esp. Pennington, Bausch, and Stempel.    Coach Rose still using basically a ten player rotation, with a number of pine-sitters also getting 2-3 minutes today.  No Nelson at all, must be injured or under the weather or something.  Nelms still out with an ankle injury.  Coach Rose has lots of options.  If Titans hitting on all cylinders, they could be very good.

Titans home opener Tuesday evening at The Shirk, vs. MSOE.  Women play earlier vs. Whitewater.  IWU women had a big big win today over Point, going on a second half 41-6 tear, after being down 10 at the half.  Great fun to watch the Titan pressure basically crumble another team.

IWU women's soccer got to the Elite 8 today, with a 3-2 win of U of Chicago in 2 OTs.  Elite 8, best ever for the Titan soccer program.

A good day to be a TITAN!

IWU70 :)
