Hope's games against scholarship schools help them with Massey SOS, I believe, where they don't help them with our voters. Hope has played a strong schedule of D-III schools, too, but until this past week they had lost to all of the ranked teams. Hope is 1-3 vs. the Top 25. Definitely should get more than five votes (although, admittedly, I did not vote for them).

In hindsight, I probably should have, but I had UWSP and Wooster both in the 20-25 range and Hope lost to both of them so they were borderline for me. Might be that way for a lot of people.

Aquinas and Cornerstone are the massey equivalent of Baldwin-Wallace and Virginia Wesleyan,  or #50 and #20, its not that much of a boost in SOS.

You don't think that's a boost in SOS? You have high standards!

Not when you've already played #4, #6, #7, #21, #30 and #46

Even taking out those two NAIA games completely Hope's schedule would still be #5.

Until you replace them with someone at replacement level, yes.

Replacement would drop it to #7

Adding Maine Maritime and Sarah Lawrence, the two lowest rated team on massey for D3 would still make them #22 in SOS on massey

Benjy Taylor couldn't get it done at D3 NCC where he was 28-46 in 3 seasons. Now he's successful at D1 Hawaii. Slick!
Probably too many confining rules down here in D3.

Apparently, he could not get it done at Chicago State either, but I would not hold that against him.

I would love to see a show pony betting board added to the site, Mr. Coleman.  ;D  See the www.cyclonefanatic.com board for an example of an effective betting board.  I would see this as a for profit opportunity for D3 Hoops.

Hello all,
Forgive me but it has been awhile since I've posted anything on the boards. In my absence I've watched my fellow Cardinal supporter (Andone) grow from an aggravating-american poster into an all-american poster..lol..HOF is certainly in his future.
I'm obviously not a Carthage supporter but Bosko's career work speaks for itself.  Therefore, no need to defend him plus Greg has already done that. However, in defense of coach Taylor, his tenure  gave us fans some of the best players in NCC and CCIW history. Starting with Mike Wilson, Adam Teising, Ray Vicario, Anthony Simmons, Adam Krumtingers, and Dan Walton! Taylor will never get the credit for it but his staff started the initial contacts that landed eventual star Chris Drennan.
Benjy was not a bad coach although his record and short stay says otherwise. Believe it or not his final season at NCC was 12-12. Simmons, Walton, and Krumtingers were freshmen. CCIW posters over the past decade certainly remember those players from NCC. Had it not been for Taylor those players may have went elsewhere.

Wheaton' depth will be even more challenged with the loss of Luis Miller to a torn ACL.  He is looking at six months of rehab.

Yes, that really was a tough one for the Thunder, and unfortunate for a kid finally getting a chance to contribute regularly after 2 yrs of patient waiting.    I thought Murad Dillard might start getting some minutes like he was earlier in the season, but he was DNP against Elmhurst.

Will look forward to tonight's Titans/Thunder matchup - 2 teams definitely searching for some groove and need this one.  WC's first home since before Thanksgiving.  A little surprised a 4 loss IWU team still getting ranked that high with few quality wins (U of C) so far?

Sub-zero temps statewide all day, about -5 forecasted at gametime so perhaps -35 or worse windchill?  I know games have been postponed for heavy snow before but any precedence for extreme temps?

We welcome all the Titan faithful at King Arena but please travel safe today/tonight.

Good luck to the Titans at WC.  Should be a good one.  Those temps sounds totally brutal.   Be well, be safe everyone out there.

I hope the Titans can take advantage of their bigs, their stronger inside game to get this win at WC and have a good away win vs. one of the contenders.

On the ranking, with four losses I also thought IWU might drop out of the top 25 but always thought this squad on the basis of its talent and development so far was more a 20-25 team than a top 10 team, at least so far.  Perhaps that will change as the CCIW season progresses, but that ranking seems about right to me now at 22.

GO TITANS!

In the mid 70's (76 or 77)  living a few miles away from the Otterbien campus n.e. of Columbus OH they (State of Oh) declared a state of extreme emergency.  The city and state closed down all large places people congregated including schools, churches, bowling alleys, malls, theaters, state & local offices etc., and all sporting events.  As I recall it the problem wasn't the temperatures themselves it was more an issue of trying to conserve natural gas, and save supply for home heating.

There wad a big discussion on the Top 25 board on this. I don't have a horse in the race, so not sure why I'm wasting my time...

IWU started #4 with 475 points in the preseason poll.

They dropped to #8 (386) after starting out 2-1. Funny how Williams goes from #5 to out of the poll completely after going 2-2. Admittedly,  Williams was ranked way too high after losing their coach and best returning player.

They went 3-0, but dropped a spot while gaining points (#9, 411) in the Week 2 poll.

They go 1-0, jump to #5 (496 points), over #8 Richard Stockton for some reason, after 5, 6, and #7 lose.

They drop 4 spots and almost 100 points (#9, 397 points) after losing to Washington U., on the road to a higher ranked team.

Lastly, they go 2-2, drop to #22 with 102 points after losing at California Lutheran and at ranked conference foe North Central.

It could be argued they should have dropped out since Williams went 2-2 and dropped out from the #5 spot, though NCC was ranked against IWU.

Incidental to the conversation, the University of Chicago is clearly overrated and may not be worthy of being labeled a quality win.  I have no idea how they are getting 13 votes in the latest poll.  The closest thing they have to a quality win is the overtime loss to Worcester Polytechnic and arguably the loss to Illinois Wesleyan.  If the Maroons do some damage in conference play, then we can talk.

The 13 votes that the Maroons received is just one more confirmation of what others have said.  This is just a particularly hard year to rank teams.
