Benjy Taylor couldn't get it done at D3 NCC where he was 28-46 in 3 seasons. Now he's successful at D1 Hawaii. Slick!  8-)
Probably too many confining rules down here in D3.  ;)
Hello all,
Forgive me but it has been awhile since I've posted anything on the boards. In my absence I've watched my fellow Cardinal supporter (Andone) grow from an aggravating-american poster into an all-american poster..lol..HOF is certainly in his future.
I'm obviously not a Carthage supporter but Bosko's career work speaks for itself.  Therefore, no need to defend him plus Greg has already done that. However, in defense of coach Taylor, his tenure  gave us fans some of the best players in NCC and CCIW history. Starting with Mike Wilson, Adam Teising, Ray Vicario, Anthony Simmons, Adam Krumtingers, and Dan Walton! Taylor will never get the credit for it but his staff started the initial contacts that landed eventual star Chris Drennan.
Benjy was not a bad coach although his record and short stay says otherwise. Believe it or not his final season at NCC was 12-12. Simmons, Walton, and Krumtingers were freshmen. CCIW posters over the past decade certainly remember those players from NCC. Had it not been for Taylor those players may have went elsewhere.

In my brief experience playing for Coach Taylor I was a big fan.
You win! You always do!

The 13 votes that the Maroons received is just one more confirmation of what others have said.  This is just a particularly hard year to rank teams.

. . . Or that early non-con play/results are typically tough to evaluate and less meaningful, especially with more teams traveling around the country in recent seasons.  Which is why we're all happy January is here (and on a 1 degree day, perhaps the only reason).

So now it's 11 against 7? And another tall guy?!

On a side note, Wheaton leads the country in free throw percentage at 85%- so we have that going for us, _____  __  ____  .  I'm hoping that might be a significant factor tonight.

Everything you said is certainly true (though it is a balmy 12 degrees in St. Louis).

Apparently, he could not get it done at Chicago State either, but I would not hold that against him.

On the contrary, in 2008-09 CSU had its first winning season in 23 years, and Benjy Taylor was at the helm for it. And, as cardinalpride indicated, it was Taylor's recruiting that started the NCC basketball revival, even though he wasn't around to see come to fruition.

Brandon Heyen's the last thing that Wheaton needs to worry about. If you're concerned about a guy who saw a grand total of 13 minutes of action three years ago but who hasn't played since, then you're missing the forest for the trees (no pun intended). ;)

It certainly doesn't hurt.

* I understood all of your previous reply about Bosko's statement concerning the possibility of Carthage finishing 7th. However, I still think that him saying its impossible for his team to finish 7th just because it has never happened before is illogical, outlandish, and ridiculous. And I certainly don't agree that just because you don't agree with me means I'm wrong. Furthermore, I think the majority of people would agree that such a statement is indeed illogical, outlandish, and ridiculous, among other things.

... and I don't. Thus, short of you actually posting a poll at the top of this board, the issue will remain an unresolved matter of opinion.

Quote from: AndOne on January 06, 2015, 02:21:39 AM* You are 100% correct in that D3 players quit on a regular basis. What exacerbates things in this instance is the totality of issues occurring within a short interval---Bosko attracting only 2 recruits, Bosko's statement about not finishing 7th, Reese Herth suddenly quitting, and then Bosko's not shaking hands with the other team. This is an inordinate number of issues within a shorter than expected time frame and suggests someone may have left the stove on when they went to bed, and something may be starting to smolder north of the border.

No, it doesn't. You're simply stringing together a bunch of unrelated subjects in an attempt to trash Bosko. It's as simple as that. Correlation does not imply causation.

NPU gets a sound and healthy Jordan Robinson back in uniform tonight, which is a very, very good thing. This should be an interesting affair, as several of the members of North Park's 1984-85 national championship team will be in the crackerbox tonight. I think that they're going to be recognized at halftime. Unfortunately, most or all of them will be sitting behind the Carthage bench, although I've long since grown accustomed to this sort of thing. Regardless, it'll be good to see those guys.

Not that it matters, but I was only commenting on his days at Chicago State.  I am not sure any Coach who would go to Chicago State could ever win there.  Maybe I am wrong, but I think they have always been terrible.

I know nothing of the coach other than I watched every game Hawaii played in their Christmas tournament as they have two transfers from Mizzou.  Taylor was brought in as an interim at the beginning of the season.  Hawaii had a brilliant tournament and nearly knocked off Witchita State.

I know for a fact that Reese's absence from the Carthage roster has nothing to do with an issue with Bosko. Fact. You should put this one to rest, Mark.
