I haven't figured out how to lift a sentence from a previous post for quoting.  I would have taken something from a recent AND ONE post.  I sensed that he has backed off of Bosko bashing and Nelson nit-picking but I see that he is back to bumming Berg with his comment about "chippyness" (moving screens and attempted tripping). Really?  Man, you're reaching... to stimulate peoples passion ( I presume).

Sorry to see Wheaton give up a lead at the end of a game at home twice in a row against a couple of top teams, IWU and NCC.  Interestingly it doesn't seem to be because of lack of "bigs" which I think many people suspected would be their problem this year.  They out rebounded the rugged (but not chippy) studs of NC, and were only two boards down against IWU.

They'll have to hit some big shots on the road to get back into the mix.  It would be good for interest in the Conference playoff race if they can do it.

It isn't hard.  Click on "Quote" in the upper right corner of the comment you wish to quote.  Then you can either bold the particular comment so it stands out comment or you can delete the parts of the quote you don't want leaving only the portion you wanted.

If that's the case (I wasn't aware of that limitation myself), then just copy and paste a quote in a new message.  For clarity, be sure to attribute the quote to the original poster.

bbfan44,

I think badgerwarhawk's advice is applicable. I don't believe there is a required number of posts before being allowed to use this feature. However, if you have a specific question regarding a previous post just let me know. In the meantime I'm wondering why you would again bring up previously truthfully reported subjects that have been thoroughly analyzed, hashed over, and "backed off of" as you term it? Your use of aberrant alliteration to do so is cute, but your attempt to initiate a little additional controversy is readily transparent. Talk about reaching.  :D

Yes, Wheaton played a very good game including outrebounding the "rugged studs" as you term the North Central players. And, if the name of the game was rebounding rather than basketball, the men from North DuPage would have won. However, I'm sure the Cardinal players appreciate your referring to them as "studs."  :)
If you were at the game perhaps you missed Berg often moving into NCC players when setting a screen and/or the extension of his foot into the path of Charlie Rosenberg at one particular point in the action. Just a little standard chippiness in a rough CCIW tussle.

I think that's what makes the CCIW so fun to watch.  Every team plays hard nosed ball.

New number one today.  I've seen Whitewater, NC, IWU, and Wash U this year.  Wash U is good, but they didn't strike me as being a number  1 team.  Looking forward to seeing Augustana this week in Naperville.  I'm thinking it's got the potential to be a good one.  Should be fun.  Hope the ref's don't get whistle happy with the local big "studs".  Rosenberg hardly played against IWU as I recall because the ref's didn't like his aggressive play.

jaybird44

I think that there are a dozen or so teams that have taken a number and are waiting for that number to be called to be the new #1.  Interchangeable parts that can be used to replace the ones that ascend to #1 and then wear out.

There are no super teams out there.  Just many very good teams, out of which will be one team that somehow will be able to survive the 6-game gauntlet to become the national champion.  And, how that team survives might not be pretty.

I haven't the faintest idea who the Final Four will be, or even the Elite 8.  It all depends on how the NCAA sets the geography of the bracket, and then the matchups between each couplet of teams.  There will be no Pods of Death...just one large game of musical chairs, and the teams with the most nimble dance steps will find chairs to advance to the next round.

I just hope that 3 teams from the CCIW make the dance, get to play the musical chairs as suggested in March.  Some very strong teams in the league this year.  And, Elmhurst may be the team that surprises us all.  Conference tourney at the end will be a "knock down, drag out" affair, chippiness or no.  May depend on whose bigs have the best fitness, come to the end of the season with some gas still in the tank.  Lots of miles being put on some of those guys.

On IWU, sure nice to see Nelson start to contribute more, Marietti back and contributing quite a lot.  Overstreet playing at a consistently high level like all senior captains should.  Coyle doing pretty well, playing his role now as a starter at the 4.  Got to keep all the pieces moving ahead, improving and contributing, continued big contributions off the bench, hopefully getting to the full orchestra of talent for the last third of the season.  IWU's depth still a major feature in their possible championship run.

IWU at home two more games -- first vs. the Big Blue, then hosting NPU.  Good luck to Augie and NCC -- should be a match up of CCIW Titans.  May the best team win . . . I'd say NCC by 3  in a very physical event!

It's the time of the season to grind them out, defend home court and steal a few key games away vs.  11-3 or 10-4 likely.  It will be difficult for any team to get to 12-2 this year, IMHO.

Colin Lake: 16 pts
Juwan Henry: 15 pts
Jordan Robinson: 10 pts, 5 rebs, 3:1 a:to
T.J. Cobbs: 4:0 a:to
Cam Burnett: 5:1 a:to
Joe Biko: 8 rebs
Michael Wilson: 6 rebs

No surprise that this one was a laugher. Tom Slyder played fifteen players, none of the starters was in for more than 19 minutes, and everybody on the NPU bench had a lot of fun as the Vikings had the opportunity to enjoy themselves and get the bad taste of Saturday out of their mouths.

This is what you get when you have to dig up an eleventh-hour replacement opponent for the other replacement opponent you had to find after a previous cancellation of the original scheduling contract.

Based on that result, I think night fell on Dayspring...

Kudos to the Wheaton announcing crew who did a nice job on Saturday.  They understandably took issue with the non-call on the non-shot clock violation at the end (understandable because either way that got called it was going to be a big moment at that juncture of the game), and the crew really only went full metal homer on the subsequent charging call in the waning seconds.  And really, if an opposing fan is only pointing out one or two issues, that's a fairly even-keeled broadcast.

Speaking of issues...  North Central's bench:
46 minutes
0 for 6 from the field
0 points
1 rebound
3 turnovers

This was a nice away win against a good opponent, and road wins don't come cheap.  But that's two essentially invisible games in a row from the Cardinal reserves, and if that trend continues, it will come back to bite the Sons of Warden at some point as the season progresses.

iwu70

Kiko, good point on NCC bench production.  You can see the superb production by the IWU bench that confirms many comments made here over the weeks about IWU's depth.  Likely to continue.  Ron Rose has lots of weapons and can go with who he feels is playing well, who is hot on the night, who is best for the match-ups he's facing.

Looking forward to the AC-NCC clash.  At least one of them is going down!   :)

In the new poll, CCIW almost had four teams in the top 25:

As expected, Augie back to #1 (Wash U down to #7?)
NCC #9
EC #22
IWU #26

No team with 4 losses in the top 25.

A great opportunity upcoming for North Central, versus the Doggies.

That looks like the CCIW tournament line-up to me. (unless WC can right the ship soon).
