Seibring is going to get better and better -- as he just works so hard.  When he develops further his 10-15 foot shot, learns more to put the ball on the floor and even hits some treys (as he did the other night), look out CCIW.  Very sound on defense, shoots FTs well.  He and Marietti will again make a great duo next season at the 5.

Wow, looks like Dubuque is not very deep at all, should be a big advantage to the Titans.

Congratulations for Augie, IWU, and Elmhurst for their spots in the tournament. I am sorry that UMHB didn't have a very good year this year. Since I live 3 minutes from that campus and both of my kids have attended there, I follow them more closely than the CCIW teams for the most part these days. I saw the Augie coaches at Shaun's wedding this fall; it was great to catch up with them a little. I am looking forward to seeing how the CCIW does in the games ahead. Hope all of you on the board are well and having great years.

Naturally, because they hoard players, you would expect them to always have the depth advantage.  :)

And seemingly very dependent on their two front-court players.  If the Titans can shut down (or at least slow down) Norris and Heffernan, they should be in great shape; get them in foul trouble, and it looks like Dubuque might be done for.  (Though well balanced scoring from the back-court guys.)

Has any poster seen Dubuque play this year? Emhurst beat them at home in December 98-93 in OT. And NCC beat Stevens Point in WI in November 63-56. IWU lost to Stevens Point there in the 4th round in 2010 by 16. That was the Doug Sexauer, Sean Johnson, Travis Rosenkranz IWU team.
just watched their Wartburg conference title game  - IWU will need to stop 6'7" 185lbs Norris.  Norris probably has a 6'10" or better wing span.  He is a deadly offensive weapon primarily from the perimeter; starts in the high post or key, moves immediately to the perimeter and much of the offense runs through him - he will step back and pop a three so you can't give any space.  With his height, Norris can see right over the defense. More an offensive threat than a defensive threat but his length lets him challenge shots.  Not a leaper.
Heffernan does the heavy lifting underneath from the low post.  Ferguson, Morris and Ware solid players.  But, a different team without Norris on the floor.

I posted this on the WIAC board.

Doing some homework for my tourney fantasy league...

Man, I thought Stevens Point lacked depth. A team I was looking at has all 5 starters averaging over 30 minutes a game...38.4, 37.6, 36.4, 35.0 and 30.7. Wow.  :D

A good time of year to hoard players, especially good players.  :)

Looking forward to Friday and IWU's game vs. Dubuque @ Stevens Point.

Go TITANS!

I would be willing to bet that we'll see Alec Bausch guarding Norris at points on Friday night.  Where is Eric Dortch when we really need him?   :)

I thought about Bausch but I think we are more likely to see Titans start with Sodemann on Norris.  Moving in and out of a zone another possibility.  This Dubuque team reminds me a little bit of the Hanover teams when Hanover was a strong contender in the HCAC.  I want to try and watch the Elmhurst game against Dubuque to get a better feel for Dubuque.

Heffernan is a low post player who can front and play back to the basket.  Norris, at least in the Wartburg game, played on the perimeter at the top and side of the key.  Depth appears to be a problem for Dubuque which appears to prefer a half-court game rather than a fast pace.  Dubuque could be challenged if the Titans can push the ball up court or get out on fast breaks.

I have also watched some Dubuque video lately, and wow is Andre Norris good.  6-7, crazy long, athletic "combo forward" who can handle the ball -- much more of a face-the-basket guy with tremendous range (great 3-point shooter), but can do damage down in the low post too.  Norris will be the most talented frontcourt player IWU has faced this season by far - kind of Tayvian Johnson but way more skilled and talented.  He looks to me like a legitimate NCAA D2 type player.  (I know that John Baines offered him a full scholarship at St. Francis.)

IWU really has no one in the starting lineup well suited to guard him.  Sodemann is too small...Marietti and Seibring are not mobile enough.  Realistically, it will have to be Bausch and Coyle.  I'm very intrigued to see what Ron Rose tries to do with him.  Definitely need Eric Dortch back for this one.

The good news is that IWU should be able to score a lot of points against Dubuque.  I won't be surprised if both teams score 80+.

For a first, I have a Titan opponent on my fantasy team.  I'm hoping Norris goes for 60+ fantasy points, and Dubuque STILL loses by a bunch! ;D
