Mr. Ypsi

Yeah, after eleven seconds, Emory led 2-0.  It has been all Augie since then.  Currently up by 24 with 14+ to go.

WUPHF

Unfortunately, Emory is without their best player.  They are not currently deep enough to do that.

It's a shame Trawick wasn't able to play, but I doubt that it would have mattered much.  Augie was locked in tonight.

It's certainly a shame that Will Trawick isn't playing. I've seen him play both live and online several times, and I respect his game -- and his numbers this season (15.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg) are very solid.

But, honestly, he would not have made a difference in the outcome if he'd played. Augustana's just plain better than Emory, and it's not a narrow gap, either.

Augustana 88
Emory 65

This one was as emphatic as the final score indicated.

St. Thomas @ Augustana tomorrow night should be a great game. The Tommies look like they've been peaking over their past few games.

Unless he is Steph Curry, it wouldn't have made a difference.  Big gap between these two teams.

What's with Alma's green road uniforms, which by the way, are ugly with the mock collar. Their colors are maroon and white. All of their fans are wearing maroon.

Time for a new computer, vet.

Good luck to IWU grad Mark Edmundson ('90), who leads the LeRoy Panthers into the 1A state title game today vs Leo.  Eddy was a key part of the first IWU team I followed - the '89-90 team, my freshman year, with Jeff Kuehl as the star.

Anyone who is not watching the game at Carver right now is missing some phenomenal college basketball.

St. Thomas 86
Augustana 76

As I said last Sunday, nobody's just gonna hand Grey Giovanine the Walnut & Bronze. St. Thomas is a very, very good team.

Congrats to Augie on a great season that ended with the Doggies matching '73 Augie, '78 North Park, and '97 Illinois Wesleyan for the all-time CCIW record for wins with 29.

Watching college hockey right now.  Gophers up 2-1 against the lowly Badgers.  Edited to report Gophers up 3-1.

Didn't St. Thomas beat Augustana in Rock Island 3-4 years ago to advance?

2011 St. Thomas won at Augie 72-56 in Sectional Final and went on to win the National Championship

It seems astonishing that anybody could beat Augustana on the boards by ten rebounds, but that's what happened tonight. That big kid with the Finnish name was just too much for Augie to handle down low.

The Tommies really rained fire from downtown in the second half. Hunter Hill, who ended his career with 21 points, five assists, and no love from CCIW> ;), answered a few of them with treys of his own, but the St. Thomas offense was never slowed down by the best defense that the CCIW has to offer.

Early in the game Augustana missed a whole bunch of shots right at the rim. Those count -- or don't count -- just as much as do the shots made or missed down the stretch, and thus I think that they were a big factor tonight, too. But that's not to take anything away from UST; the Tommies are just plain good. That backcourt of Tillman and Schaeffer is terrific. They penetrated at will against Augie's perimeter defenders, and you just don't see that very often against Augie. The Tommies are a very real threat to take home the second D3 men's hoops title in UST history. I've got them going to the title game in Salem before losing to Benedictine.

(And congrats to our neighbors from the Suburb Named After Socks, who deserve a tip of the cap for making it to thirty wins without a loss and for becoming the first-ever NACC, NIIC, or LMC squad to reach the season's final weekend. They turned a really good Alma team into mulch tonight at the Rice Center.)

Nothing left of B'ball season for me so I clicked on Hero Sports to see best teams in the 50 states. Found one error which I reported. For Ohio, Wittenberg was #1. But they do not have the most D3 tournament wins with 51 as stated. IWU's tournament record is 54-24. Not a big deal I know. But I love stats and records.
