Here's a link to an article that I must have missed the first time round and don't remember if it was posted here or not.  It's nothing we don't already know as D3/CCIW fans but it's still a good read, and not too lengthy for those of you who are attention-challenged   :)

Yeah, if you go back to page 401 in the CCIW Chat archives, you'll see that this Trib article was linked here by some clown from North Park whose posts often tend to be a little on the lengthy side. ;)

Tracking down the original post got me to reading what was going on in the room back then. The 2005-06 season was certainly an interesting one here on CCIW Chat.

Safe to assume, then, that said clown has not even been tempted by the 140 character limitation of Twitter yet?

Gregory Sager

No, not really. Twitter's not my thing. People love to quote Shakespeare's famous saying, "Brevity is the soul of wit," but they tend to overlook the fact that he put those words into the mouth of a character (Polonius) who was not exactly the brightest bulb in the kingdom of Denmark. ;)

I do look for stuff on Twitter during this time of year (as evidenced by the list of NPU gridiron recruits who've deposited that I posted on the CCIW football page six days ago, all of whom were announced on Twitter). But I'm not tempted to use it myself.

Augustana recruit...

Titan,

Where did you get this information?

Although, with apologies to GS, Titan Q is the basketball chat room's Twitter King, he usually links the tweet of the recruit's announcement with the post. As that was not done in this case, it can only be assumed Q has another reliable source of information.
Regarding Ferguson specifically, this is a kid who early in the season was said to have garnered a D2 scholarship from a school in MN. Later, it was rumored another D2, also in MN, offered or was going to. Both are a relative distance from Downers Grove. Despite what the tape might show, these schools must have been going on the old standard of "potential" because Ferguson was not even a usual starter for DGS. Of the games I either saw DGS play or checked the box score for over the last couple years, I think he usually scored only 4-6 points. He is a very good board man.

I would guess his looks/offers stemmed mostly from the fact he is either 6-8 or 6-9. He was listed in the DGS program, and is still listed on various sites, as being 6-9. Perhaps he has shrunk a bit? If so,  maybe he can play guard at Augie  ;). If not, with, now seven, recruits 6/6 or taller plus five eligible returnees likewise 6/6 or taller, Augie can certainly be accused of hoarding bigs. Do you believe any of them don't think they are going to play? Assuming all are PFs or Cs, you have twelve guys vying for two starter's minutes. What the heck is Giovanine going to do with all of them? Add 2, possibly 3 more backups, and 7 or 8 of these guys are going to see miniscule, if any, PT. Several of them probably won't even dress. An abundance of ritches, but several layers of disappointment on the horizon over the Mississippi.

The obvious explanation is that they need really tall students to pull down the boxes of rubber gloves from the topmost shelves in the examining rooms of the Augustana Medical School.

Please don't write a two page post summarizing the season Greg.  Thanking you in advance.   ;D

Anybody who really wants to delve into that season's posts is welcome to go back and look for him- or herself, BW. I'm not going to spoil the fun for anybody in either long or short fashion. ;)

Those being the rooms in the basement of the Carver Center labeled STORAGE, and containing mannequins of Giovanine posed at various stages of one of his record setting sport coat tosses!  ;)

Gregory is waiting for TwitterProTM, which has a 140 paragraph limit...  ::)

I'll admit it... I had to look it up.

Well played!

Kiko: I'm with you regarding the addition of Carroll to the CCIW. It's good for football. But it is not a welcome addition to IWU and MU basketball which now have another long Saturday trip to Waukesha. And ask the baseball coaches if they like adding Carroll. The 2016 CCIW baseball games were played primarily in cold or chilly conditions. And now the new school to play is also the the furthest north.  Brr! :P

Distance, young lad.  ;)
Giovanine's tosses were always measured by the number of rows that the haberdashery cleared before landing.  :D
