As has been stated, Carthage has been playing extremely well winning five in a row and six of last seven on the road, the only loss being a pretty bad beat down at Augustana. I'm going to have check out more of the conference leaders on line.  After I watched the Augie game, I didn't come away thinking they were as good as they are currently playing.

For me, the most impressive of many impressive Aston Francis baskets last night...

Anyone else notice he got away with a travel? Dragged that pivot foot pretty bad. LOL

Nice shot... he has some nice talent out there.

It continues to be entertaining to watch Massey ratings fluctuate on off days. It's like watching the prices of commodities go up and down at the Chicago Board of Trade.

At the moment, it's:

  10. Augustana
  13. North Park
  15. Illinois Wesleyan
  24. Carthage
  49. North Central
  97. Wheaton
138. Carroll
139. Elmhurst
299. Millikin

Relative to a 1 thru 9 I think Massey has it about right (above) for CCIW.  I am not so sure compared to D3.

I agree that no team has jumped out with performance result which state a given team a clear cut number ine.  This year the tournament spots may go down to the last game of the conference schedule to determine three and four.

IWU travels to Augustana Wednesday.  Should be another great game between these two.

Last 5 years:
  * IWU: 52 CCIW wins; 2 titles; 11 NCAA wins
  * Augie: 50 CCIW wins, 2 titles, 8 NCAA wins

Two outstanding programs and a great rivalry.

In the last 5 years, IWU had the Overstreet, Ziemnik, Davis, etc group and then Augie had the Hill, Ryan, Johnson, etc group (both making Salem runs).  I believe 2016-17 is the most even these two programs have been.  I don't see any separation between IWU and Augie heading into the game Wednesday.

Some great matchups. Top 8 for both...

Augustana
G - Nolan Ebel, 6-1 So.  10.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.9 apg
G - Chrishawn Orange, 6-2 So.  11.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.1 apg
G - Dylan Sortillo, 6-3 Jr.  14.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.2 apg
F - Jacob Johnston, 6-5 Sr.  13.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg
C - Micah Martin, 6-10 Fr.  2.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg

F - Pierson Wofford, 6-4 So.  9.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg
G - Brett Benning, 6-6 So.  8.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg
C - A.J. Dollmeyer, 6-8 Jr.  5.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg

Illinois Wesleyan
G - Brady Rose, 6-3 Jr.  14.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.2 apg
G - Colin Bonnett, 6-4 So.  9.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.1 apg
G - Andy Stempel, 6-4 Sr.  12.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.9 apg
F - Alec Bausch, 6-6 Sr.  8.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg
C - Trevor Seibring, 6-8 Sr.  12.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg

G - Nick Coleman, 6-1 So. 8.1 ppg, 2.4 apg
F - Jaylen Beasley, 6-6 Jr.  5.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg
G - Austin Amann, 6-3 Sr.  4.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg

I'll be surprised if this one isn't very close from start to finish.

Massey has Augie #10 and IWU #13...neither is in the current D3hoops.com Top 25. (I believe both are top 15-20 teams.)

If you factor in the CCIW tournament...
*IWU:  54 wins, 2 titles, 11 NCAA wins
*Augustana: 55 wins, 4 titles, 8 NCAA wins

We in Titan Nation prefer not to think of the CCIW tourney.  Since the tourney began (in 2006), we have been to Salem three times, yet have NEVER won the conference tourney!

Massey had some very strange schedule strength changes over the weekend.  This moved teams up and down a little more than the norm.

I don't know about the rest of DIII but the number of uncalled travels in our league is absurd.  Some are subtle but some are so obvious it's dumbfounding that they are missed or ignored.  We're not quite to NBA standards yet but unfortunately it appears headed in that direction.

Dragging or shifting the pivot foot seems to be the one missed the most. I do like it when a ref catches it.. especially the pivot from front to back of the foot, rotate the foot and then rotate up on the front... player could move a few feet that way.

Funny.  I've seen and heard from others a distinct increase in how closely they're watching travels this year.  It feels like I was seeing a lot more than normal in November.  Maybe they've dialed back again now that conference seasons are on.

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have stated "in our league" given that my experience is limited to games played by WHITEWATER.   I watch quite a few non-WIAC games online but with the buffering and the general quality of the production spotting travels is essentially impossible.

Wondering how often fans in any conference have seen very many 3 seconds in the lane calls despite the fact it happens consistently. Also, how often anyone sees the even less frequently called carrying/palming the ball even though it may occur mare frequently than 3 seconds. The latter infraction seems to be called so infrequently that the powers that be might as well remove it from the list of possible infractions.

New Top 25 is out:

North Park fell from #10 to #18 (246 pts)
Illinois Wesleyan re-enters the list at #22 (98 pts)
Augustana (40 pts) and Carthage (19 pts) are the top two teams in the ORV category.

I have seen all of these call consistently, though I wouldn't mind them called a few more times. The only time I don't see travel called is the one I mentioned earlier.
