Greg you get this, while Oshkosh lost some games to Augie and Benedictine, they have beaten Eau Claire twice handily and split with River Falls.  Eau Claire has lost to Whitewater, as has Oshkosh. How can they be below Eau Claire?

And with a lot of SoS's far worse than Oshkosh's .596

I didn't think Oshkosh was getting in, especially after losing to Point at home last week.

Word on the street is that Benedictine is going to move to D2 soon, so this will all be so much easier once the Bennies are out of the picture. Then the Central Region rankings will strictly be the province of the CCIW, the WIAC, and the UAA for the foreseeable future, unless St. Norbert can manage to snag a key win or two in non-conference play.

I saw Oshkosh play at Benedictine in late November. While they may have improved since then, they were not very good at all at that time. Hardly anybody besides #2 and #4 scored any points. They had no bigs that did much besides take up space, and no interior game. And keep in mind that Benedictine is not really as strong of a team as their ranking might indicate. They have lots of wins, and a correspondingly high ranking, primarily because they play 20 conference games against a very weak league wherein it's not much trouble at all to rack up lots of easy wins.

Current Massey:

  12. Augustana
  32. Carthage
  34. Illinois Wesleyan
  39. North Park
  58. North Central
120. Wheaton
127. Carroll
196. Elmhurst
308. Millikin

Massey sez:

Wheaton 72, @ Millikin 62 (WC 82%, MU 18%)
@ Carthage 82, North Park 79 (CC 60%, NPU 40%)
@ Augustana 75, North Central 66 (AC 79%, NCC 21%)
@ Illinois Wesleyan 81, Elmhurst 68 (IWU 90%, EC 10%)

In the first meeting between Augie and NCC, Pierson Wofford, who is no longer on the team, had a game high 12 rebounds and scored 11 points.
Playing at home, Augie is still the definite favorite, but NCC might have a little more than only a 21% chance to win.  :-\

THAT is interesting!

Saint Joseph's College sadly just announced that they are closing at the end of the semester.  They are a member of the GLVC.  This would be the perfect time for Benedictine to make the move.

I'm not sure that St. Joe's shutting its doors makes much difference in terms of the GLVC accepting Benedictine or not. I mean, the GLVC has, what ... two thousand member schools? Three thousand? What's one more? ;)

Greg, would that be in all sports the Benedictine sponsors?

I agree.  Augie does miss Wofford. Eventhough he was coming off the bench after the first couple of weeks of the season, he was playing awfully well in that role.  NCC absolutely has an opportunity to win this game. I don't think they'll get the performances from both Anderson and Henry as they did against NPU, but if one of those two can come close along with what I believe will be a nice game from Sorenson (Augies bigs have really struggled with fouls as of late) they can win this game.  Woffords dismissal has really impacted the quality (and emphasize quality) depth of Augie.  They are still deep but having a guy like Wofford coming off the bench was a huge advantage for them.

AC and NCC and NPU and CC into OTs.

IWU over EC, 87-60.

Stempel 21, a great shooting game
Seibring 16 and 11 -- looking pretty fit to me.
Bonnett 14
Beasley 11 rebounds

Titans now climbing back into the CCIW tournament and championship picture.

Augie escapes in OT, NPU goes down in double OT to CC.  Augie pulling away.
