Since there's next to nothing going on today in terms of D3 games, and, therefore, Massey isn't going to change anything pertinent to the CCIW ...

Current Massey:

  16. Augustana
  27. Carthage
  33. North Park
  37. Illinois Wesleyan
  45. North Central
  94. Wheaton
103. Carroll
198. Elmhurst
319. Millikin

Massey sez:

@ North Park 82, Millikin 61 (NPU 97%, MU 3%)
@ Illinois Wesleyan 75, Augustana 73 (IWU 56%, AC 44%)
@ Carthage 80, Wheaton 75 (CC 69%, WC 31%)
Carroll 73, @ Elmhurst 71 (CU 55%, EC 45%)

Massey ranks Augie 16th and IWU 37h, and then sez IWU 75, Augie 73.  ???
Maybe he found out The Stomper is going to rest his starters for the conference tournament.  ;)

I've never studied Massey's methodology, but that sounds close enough in rankings that home court could easily account for the prediction.

But home court didn't help much against North Central on Saturday night.  ;)
Perhaps its the excitement that is expected to be generated from the Matt Adams night celebration.  8-)

Massey was utterly useless on Saturday. The HAL 9000 was wrong on three of the four outcomes, and the only one it got right, the no-brainer win for Carthage over Millikin, was grossly underestimated. Massey predicted a 14-point win for Bosko's Boys, and they ended up winning by 33.

Surely North Park University is the best team in the league this year, surely.

And you would be so so lucky to have Dawn Upshaw sing for you -- anywhere.

You're a good sport, Mark. I like that about you. Surely! :)

Congrats to Joe Hakes, as his Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks have been bracketed as the third seed in the eight-team USCAA national tournament, which will be held in southwestern Pennsylvania on the campus of PSU-Fayette next week. The Scarlet Hawks (18-5, and soon to be 20-5 after they beat Maranatha Baptist and Emmaus Bible this week) will face Florida College (15-9) in the quarterfinals.

Thanks, Greg.  Todd Kelly has done a wonderful job with the men's program here, taking it from a no-win season the year before he came to a potential 20 win season this year.  He really deserves the credit.  We look forward to representing Chicago and DIII to the USCAA.  We also look forward to more DIII competition in the coming seasons.

SLIAC.... would love to see our teams play IIT, get the chance to play in Chicago!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Some pretty long and boring bus rides would come with those trips, hopefan.
In the interest of time and money, might we interest your conference teams in some shorter rides to the renowned metropolis of Decatur?  :D

Greg - I did not write with enough clarity.  I am not rooting for Pool A favorites to get knocked off.  I do think there is room for movement for the teams ranked but nit Pool A favorites.

Should IWU win over Augie and our game gets done before yours I think Titans Nation would bring up your broadcast to hear you sing our fight song :D

I don't want to make my listeners' ears bleed, although I'd be more than happy to hand the mic to any IWU opera divas who happen to be in the crackerbox and are willing to sing the fight song. ;)

Surely that would be enough, a good thing, a nice gesture on my part.

Check your PMs i just sent you valuable stuff in case our "divas" can not attend!

Lurking here again.
Something tells me that the d3hoops scores page has it wrong.
There must be a video feed for the Augie/IWU game tonight.  Right?

We find that d3hoops doesn't list a number of games' broadcasts in the East Region, while seemingly always listing them comprehensively in the Northeast.  It has something to do with the teams' websites, I'm told.

Conference honors will come out soon.  Robinson, Sorenson, and Francis will be 1st team, I'd say.  Who might join them?

Orange-Augie
Kruse-Carthage

The top players on two top teams.

Nope. I think they'll go with Stevenson over Kruse. The coaches almost never pick a non-scorer for first team, and Kruse is averaging only 8.6 ppg in CCIW play. He's the glue player that holds the Red Men together and does the dirty work, but Stevenson is the scorer, and it'll be Stevenson who gets the first-team nod.

Brady Rose will make the first team as well. That leaves two other guys to pick for first team, and there aren't any choices that are as obvious as the other six. I'll go with Jacob Johnston and Ben Widdes.
