Just curious and may have missed it. Why was Auggie's 1st game played at a neutral site?

* Brady Rose: 35 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
* Zach Knobloch: 30 points, 10-15 3-point
* Jaylen Beasley: 12 rebounds

Alma played a zone against the Titans, and I'd be glad to see that defense against IWU every time out. IWU knocked down 20 3-pointers - a school single game record.

Brady Rose was really good tonight - he can score in many ways.

Zach Knobloch, who set the IHSA record for 3-pointers in a season as a junior at Marengo, broke IWU's single game 3-point record tonight with 10. Of all the great 3-point shooters IWU has had (Zimmer, Amelianovich, Coon, Johnson, Edmundson, etc), I believe it's fair to say Knobloch is as good a pure shooter as any of them. In IWU's offense, he is going to do some serious damage from beyond the arc.

Through 2 games, 6-6 F Jaylen Beasley has 21 rebounds and freshman PG Grant Wolfe has 12 assists.

IWU hosts Calvin tomorrow in what should be a fun day on campus - football playoff game and then hoops.

From what I understand, they dropped the Monmouth game on their schedule because they picked up the opportunity to play the Fighting Illini down in champaign on Nov 22. Because of the dropped Monmouth game, they were looking to pick up another game and Heidelberg agreed to play and Wabash college was pretty much a midway point between the two schools.

You're right Augie fan. Augie looks very good against Calvin College tonight. Tomorrow Alma comes in to complete the Illinois Michigan challenge. They got to keep playing their best ball all year long. So far, I am very impressed with their season starts so far at 2-0.  Next week Augie goes down to Champaign to play the University of Illinois. I believe they can give them a great game. Good luck tomorrow against Alma.

Holy Cow!

Please tell me that Alma at least attempted to go man when they saw what was happening.

They never came out of their zone.

Saw Wheaton take apart DePauw last night in a game that was even more lopsided than the score might indicate. Ricky Samuelson put on a dazzling show, and was very nicely supported by Kobe Eichelberger.
Aston who? LOL.  ;)

A more than fair assessment.  I did not see Edmundson but did see the other four.  Two things different about Knobloch in admittedly two games - his release is quicker and; if his shouders are squared to the basket he does not need to set his feet.  unless the opponent has a defender that can stay in his grill he will cause trouble.

I noted on this board early on after he transferred to IWU that Zach Knobloch was a great pickup. I followed him through high school at Marengo where he played on the same team as my grandson, and I never saw a better high school 3 point shooter than Zach. UWWhitewater made a big mistake letting him get away. The Titans are really lucky to have landed him.
you did note that on this board.  I am not sure UWW let him "get away".  As I recall, Knobloch was a starter for UWW until a D1 transfer came into the picture.  He saw reduce PT off the bench.  UWW is more an inside team than a three point shooting team IMHO.  And yes, Titans were lucky to get him.

Wow.  Heidelberg upsets North Central 98-93 in 2OTs.

The Carthage preview was in the Kenosha News yesterday.  Article started out with Bosko pointing out how painful the loss to NC was in the CCIW tournament last year on the final shot by Chang at the buzzer.  He felt they would have made the D3 tournament regardless of what happened in the championship game.

As far as this season, not a lot mentioned about the team other than the three key returning starters, Perry, Kruse and Thomas.  Bosko commented on how they all have improved since last year and he expects big things from the team this year.  The only other player mentioned was the 6'11" freshman, Sean Johnson.  He just started practicing due to an injury and Bosko said he will be a major, major player for the program over the years.

For the game last night, Baltimore didn't play due to a thumb injury that just occurred.  It did mention that he scored a combined 48 points in their two scrimmages.

Yep, that's what taking 49 threes, several of which should not have been taken, and hitting on only 22% will do. I'm not sure taking 49 threes out of 69 shots is the most expedient way for NCC to play.
Commit 27 fouls, and especially, 18 TOs on top of that, and the result is not surprising.
Hopefully a learning experience that will somehow pay dividends over the almost full season that's still left to play.

AO

Did you catch the game?  Looked at the box and it seems as if the 2nd OT was a combined 30 some
Points.   Yeah they'll learn from that.

Not sure if it was 30, but there were a lot of FTs in that 2nd OT and a couple of threes.  It's possible.  We were watching it here courtside to avoid looking at the drubbing Birmingham Southern was taking in front of us.

* Jaylen Beasley: 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists
* Brady Rose: 18 points (7-10 FG)
* Nick Coleman: 18 points (5-10 3-point)
* Zach Knobloch: 14 points (3-4 3-point)
* Jason Gregoire: 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3-point)

Jaylen Beasley, who now has 34 rebounds through 3 games, had a nice game today.

IWU led by 16 with 1:58 to play in the 1st half, but Calvin cut the deficit all the way down to 1, 45-44, at the 17:38 mark of the 2nd. From 15:40 to 12:16, the Titans got 17 consecutive points from bench players (Knobloch 6, Gregoire 5, Burdine 4, Wolfe 2). That was really the key stretch of the game - the Titans went back up 15 and led comfortably the rest of the way.

After setting a school single game record with 20 3's last night, the Titans made 15 more today (15-31).  IWU really has some guys who can shoot it from beyond the arc - Knobloch, Rose, Coleman, Gregoire, Bonnett, Beasley.

The Titans have to get their inside going though.  Seems like 6-9 Alex O'Neill needs to have one breakout game somewhere along the way here to get him going.

IWU's freshman PG Grant Wolfe is a really nice player - has a chance to be outstanding down the road.

The Titans are 3-0 and next head to Memphis Nov 25-26 for the Rhodes Classic.
