Greek Tragedy

Did TJ Lake go to a CCIW school or am I just getting him confused with Colin Lake? I see he's lighting it up for Dubuque now.

It appears that TJ Lake is a transfer from DII Minnesota State-Mankato. Looks like he is originally from the Dubuque area.

You're probably not only confusing him with Colin Lake, but with a rash of CCIW players named "T.J." over the past few seasons: T.J. Cobbs of NPU, T.J. Griffin of Millikin, and T.J. Sims of Millikin.

I'm thinking it may be Sims from Millikin. Wasn't he on the team and then he just disappeared?

He was suspended and then restored to the roster. He left MU after the 2015-16 school year with two years of eligibility remaining, and a Google search reveals no further basketball activity from him since then, or at least no further basketball activity that can be traced on the Internet.

Elmhurst (3-1) pulled away from Olivet (2-3) late, and came away with an 81-71 win in Michigan. Lance Gardner had 18 and Ryan Patton 16 for the 'jays, but the really remarkable games for Elmhurst came from Jeremy Ireland (14 and 15) and Jake Rhode (14 and 7, with an outstanding 9:2 a:to ratio).

Wheaton 77
Chicago 74

Aston Francis  38 pts, 4 rebs, 6 assts,
Ricky Samuelson, 8 pts
Luke Peters, 6 pts, 4 rebs, 5 assts, 2 stls
Trevor Gunter, 11 rebs

Collin Barthel,  16 pts, 12 rebs, 4 assts
Ryan Jacobsen, 10 pts, 13 rebs
Jordan Baum, Noah Karras  13 pts each

After yet another chilly shooting first half for #1 in white, it was an Aston Francis 27 point second half show as good as any performance last season.  When he wasn't making pull up 3 ptrs he was driving the lane and dishing for open looks.  A welcome reminder of his game changing potential that Thunder fans had yet to see this season.

Ricky Samuelson got very few good looks as it was obvious the Maroons were not going to leave him alone ever.  Ditto for Wheaton against Jake Fenlon who was only 2-8 from three and ended up with just 8 pts.

Continuing to kill the team are foul trouble and foul shots.  Luckily Wheaton has some depth for the former but the latter will cost them a game or two before the season's out.

What happened to Collin Barthel?  I watch most of the first half and he is just another guy on the court. Then I turn it back on in the second half and it looks like he had brain surgery and he is leading the team.

Pretty sure there was a headbutt collision with a Wheaton player.

Francis gets all the glory for his scoring spree in the second half, but the unsung hero of the game for Wheaton was Luke Peters. He didn't give Jake Fenlon room to breathe at all. Fenlon got off a grand total of two uncontested treys the entire game.  Coming into tonight he was averaging 22.8 ppg, getting off 15 trey attempts per game, and hitting on 41% of them. As GoPerry said, he only went 2-8 from downtown and scored eight points. That was strictly Luke Peters' doing.

Actually, during halftime, Mr. Barthel underwent a minimally invasive endoscopic endonasal procedure in which a small blood clot was removed from the base of the brain through his nasal cavity! 😷 😉

Collision early in the second half cut his head.  They basically just taped it up around his head(must've killed to take the tape off after the game - might need a hairpiece for a while) and he barely missed a minute.  Wheaton's Gunter and Eichelberger had difficulty matching up with someone of Barthel's size and mobility.

Thanks guys! +1

I was going to make a lame joke about Barthel wearing the bandage more often, but as it turns out, his second half play was not his best half of the season.  I did not get to watch it, but statistically, he had a comparable second half against Lake Forest.
