Mr. Ypsi

MS, now you're going back before Greg's time frame. Being just a young whipper-snapper, he only has followed for 39 years: Gramkow graduated 48 years ago and Price 50!  (Not that we are getting old, or anything! :P)  While Tommy will always be super-special to us (I think he could have been unanimously elected mayor of Bloomington after the ISU game!), I don't recall him as being overall in Raymond's league.  And while Jesse Price would certainly be in the conversation for greatest CCIW player ever, wasn't he a forward?

iwu70

Well, Ypsi, I just thought I'd throw in a bit of vintage for the Board to consider.  I somehow remember Jesse Price as a guard.  Yes, Tommy Gramkow was pretty grand, at least to us -- and those late 60s teams, winning CCIW and heading for Kansas City!  Those were the days, heh?

We'll see where Brady Rose ends up in the firmament of CCIW guards after next season.  We all agree, Raymond was just awesome.  Hard to top him on a career basis.  (only a few others 2 or 3 time MOP, or POY, or Josten winners, right?).

I know that people went to Wheaton games to see Kent Raymond.  Do people go to IWU games because of young Mr Rose?

I have exit polling data from all IWU games this year that confirms this is a "yes."

from my personal perspective, it is a yes.  And, I do not make the six hour trip casually.

Polls...ask Hillary about polls.  But, if "gander" really drives six hours just to see Rose play.... Rose is either his nephew, or Rose is in good company....but, I don't think of him when I think of Steve, Raymond, or even good old what's his name from Augie a few years back.   Maybe I will by the end of his career.

I once walked 8 hours hours in the snow with no coat with below zero windchill to watch Raymond play.   Top that.

Massey doesn't look like it's updated for this week's games. At least Wednesday's weren't in the several teams I looked at.

Rose is in good company  :(

Rose versus Raymond - there are some similarities.  Both missed a year - Raymond a sabbatical year and Rose a medical year.  An opponent had/has to game plan for each.  Both deadly free throw shooters.
Stevie D was in his own category.  You are right in that we will all need to wait until the end of Rose career.. The point Q was making, before others got their shorts in a wringer, Rose and Raymond very similar numbers.

iwumichigander has been regularly coming from SE Michigan to attend games in Bloomington for many years, including not only before Brady Rose, but before Ron Rose.  He is one DEDICATED fan!

Halftime at RA Faganel...

North Central 47
Elmhurst 44

Elmhurst finished the half on a 13-0 run  after North Central led 47-31.

Both teams shooting the ball well. Cardinals with a slight rebound advantage which has led to some second chance points.

Legitimate question: who is the CCIW player that people come out to see the most? Gotta think it's a three-horse race between Rose, Aston Francis, and Alex Sorenson. I've seen all three and my personal view is that's Francis is the player for whom I'd be most likely to drop everything to go see. Thoughts?
