The Moline city line is roughly a mile east of Augustana's campus.  As far as I know, the college owns no property in Moline, and never has.
Swanson-Brunner Stadium (baseball) is located at 1031 43rd Ave., Moline, Illinois.  I'm not sure if the college owns or leases the property.

Thanks, mr_b.  I'm betting I picked up the Moline reference from the baseball board, then my memory generalized it to Augie athletics in general.  I've been to both football and basketball games at Augie, but we're talking almost 50 years ago, so I don't  know if they are even the same venues (and I certainly don't recall the addresses from back then)!

My apologies to all for this little kerfluffle in the middle of the conference basketball season! :-[

The Carver Center opened in 1971.  Prior to that the Vikings played in a ramshackle gym with warped floors, like something out of Hoosiers.  Hard to imagine that you can't remember that experience, Mr. Ypsi!

oh memories!  opposing teams (as thy did with Fred Young Fieldhouse) claimed Augustan won there because they knew where all the dead and warped boards were located  :D

Ah, yes, I remember that dive!  I assumed that wasn't the Carver Center, but never been to Carver.

And I have VERY fond memories of Fred Young Fieldhouse, though fully understand why opponents wouldn't (especially since they almost never won there!)

I love it when the veterans get going with the stories of the good old days. Seriously. :)

iwu70

Sure loved Fred Young -- for varsity games and for intra-mural tournaments.  Loved sitting on top the walls, barriers at the south end, just by the small ticket booth.  Sitting up there in fully packed games, one sat about the same level as the basket.  One could see Sheldon Thompson or Fred Evans sky up there to grab rebounds!  It was a unique vantage point to watch the Titans zoom up and down the floor, in the days of "stop on a dime" jump-shooter Tommy Grakow and those great KC-bound teams from the late 60s.  It was so so hot in there, if you weren't in tip-top shape, you would just melt playing in that cooker.  There were dead places on that floor as well.  The students used to stomp on bleachers making even more noise with the rattle of the loose roll-out old bleachers of those days.

Nothing like the comfort and climate-controlled environs of The Shirk.  Those were the days . . . some great games, esp. the rivalries those years between the Titans and the Big Blue!

Then, trips to KC -- in the days before IWU was in the NCAA D3 tournament.  Packed cars, many to a hotel/motel room, and a trunk full of Coors beer for the trip back to Bloomington.  We all studied so so hard.  LOL.

FWIW, I believe Aston Francis launched a few of his shots from Bettendorf when Wheaton won at Carver earlier this month...  ::)

Now, now.  Launched from Moline I could believe, but I'm not sure even Aston could make a shot across the Mississippi in the Quad-Cities! :o ;D

Fixed it for you;)  ;D  :o

AO, always knew you were a secret Titan fan at heart . . .   LOL

If the Titans win at Carver, you can just leave it that way, OK?  Perhaps the poll voters will finally come 'round.

Well, I don't think I can be considered a Weenie fan secret or otherwise. But, since there has been so much talk that IWU should be ranked above Augie, I figured I'd make the side doing the complaining happy even if the D3Hoops poll voters wouldn't.  8-)
Tonight's head to head might help make things clearer.

Other action tonight will feature NCC at Carthage where the Cardinals will have to deal with a force not available when the teams first met, Kienan (Lord) Baltimore.  :D

unanimous22

I don't think IWU fans are really complaining as it isn't that big of a deal. More like questioning.

AndOne

Well then please excuse my choice of words. Questioning it is!  :)
