Ypsi, I agree that Carthage is still very much in it.  Perhaps they will gain the fourth spot, leaving WC out?  Not sure.  Anything can still happen with many big games to go.  When I said the TITANS have a two game lead, I meant over Augie, the presumed #1.  Yes, I realize that NCC is only one game back now and playing extremely well, though NPU had them and let them slip away.
Every game important now -- and yes, NPU, MU and Carroll can seemingly beat anyone or come close on any given night.  Not much separation top to bottom, depending on who really comes to play, who has an off night or who gets suddenly hot.

New poll is finally out.  Augie falls from 9 to 14; IWU falls from 14 to 17.  No one else receiving any votes.

iwu70

About what we expected on the poll.  IWU and Augie more in the same range now.  Five games to go, all important.

I would have thought NCC or Carthage would be getting a few votes now, esp. NCC.

As I said after the Carthage - IWU game early in the season, IWU could go 18-7 or 20-5 or 21-4.  Still could be the case.  Some very tough games upcoming . . . we'll see how it all breaks.  The final regular season game vs. NCC could be for the CCIW championship.

North Central has the early losses that knocked them out of the poll in the first place, and 5 is a lot for a top 25 team even at this point. Carthage is 12-8, they have no business being on anyone's ballot.

The NCC-Augie game tomorrow is more important for now, as is Wheaton-IWU. North Central/IWU win those and then maybe we can start talking about implications for that finale.

5 of the top 25 have 5 (or more losses).  10 of the 25 have 4 or more, so not receiving a single vote with 5 losses tells me that there just isn't much confidence in this team going forward.

Greek Tragedy

After starting out 3-4, NCC is 13-1. However, just looking at the last 14 games tells me there aren't any significant wins there. If they go 4-0 including wins over Augie and IWU, then you'll have an argument if they don't at least get votes.

Agree with the comments regarding NCC and Top 25.  Despite getting into the 2016-17 NCAA tournament, last year's overall record did not help NCC in this year's early polls either.  While some of this year's losses come from Top 25 teams, the other losses and close games a puzzler.
I think voters are taking a wait and see posture regarding NCC.

AndOne

Among the top 5 teams, it appears Augie has the most favorable remaining schedule.

1. Augie's remaining opponents have only a .354 winning percentage (17-31).
2. Carthage's remaining opponents have a .439 winning percentage (25-32).
T3. IWU's remaining opponents stand at .526 percent (30-27).
T3. Wheaton's remaining opponents are at the same .526 percentage (30-27).
5. North Central faces remaining opponents with a combined .662 winning percentage (28-17)

I went so far as to scan the box score on this one.  If one of the two rosters had a guy named 'South' suited up, we would have hit the quinella.  Alas, it was not to be...

Exactly this.  I don't expect the Cardinals will have a win versus a RRO when the first rankings come out this week.  I would have the Sons of Warden on the fringes of my radar screen at best, and certainly not ranked if I had a ballot.

I think North Park should drop East-West and instead challenge South Park to a match.  Might be a better game, and bound to be funnier! ;D

Gregory Sager

Chuck, that joke would be a whole lot funnier if there actually was an institution of higher learning called South Park. ::)
