East-West is one of my favorite out of Division opponents that appears on D3 schedules. I love that name.

Interestingly, if you drive up Interstate 41 between Fond du Lac and Oshkosh, you'll pass a road sign for East-West and, wait for it...South Park.

Chuck, that joke would be a whole lot funnier if there actually was an institution of higher learning called South Park. ::)

After starting out 3-4, NCC is 13-1. However, just looking at the last 14 games tells me there aren't any significant wins there. If they go 4-0 including wins over Augie and IWU, then you'll have an argument if they don't at least get votes.

Pretty easy to say now knowing NCC will be without All-Conference player Erwin Henry for the remainder of the season.
If he's healthy you wouldn't find many teams anxious to play the Cardinals, and you wouldn't be so quickly dismissing either their accomplishments to date or their chances going forward.

Lots of love for Augustana . . .

I mentioned this over on the Pool C thread, but I thought Augie that high was justified. Given the attrition in the region, them being third makes sense (in particular, them being ahead of Illinois Wesleyan) with their SOS. I figured NCC had a shot at rounding out the region, and their placing makes sense too. When next week's batch comes out to include RRO results, we may see some of this stuff flip a little bit.

And with 6 losses each, lots of love for Stevens Point, and especially for River Falls.  ::)

I actually forgot about his injury when I posted that. So, last year we got to hear about Raridon's injury for 3 months. Are we going to hear about Henry's injury after every result for the next month?

Picturing Eric Cartman guarding Colin Lake is pretty funny to me.

Greek,

Ask and ye shall receive.  :)  ;D

The reason you heard about Raridon's injury is because it was pertinent to the remainder of the season. IMHO, if NCC would have had Connor available for the entire season they would have, minimally, advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.

As far as the remainder of this season, you act like his injury is of no effect. You can't possibly believe the loss of a player of Erwin's caliber won't make things harder for the Cardinals. They can certainly still get business done, but it will be a little more difficult. They'll have to dig in and claw a bit harder.

It was pertinent once he was injured, and it was pertinent once it was decided that he'd sit out the rest of 2016-17 and draw a med red. But aside from that? Nope. Counterfactuals aren't pertinent at all. You play with the players that are available, not with the players who would have been available in an alternate reality.

Once Raridon was hurt, things changed. You never really seemed to get that. Talking about Raridon's absence after every North Central loss was never relevant to the games themselves.

... and if NPU hadn't lost Juwan Henry for four games, IMHO the Vikings would've been the undisputed champions of the league rather than one of three tri-champions, and the Vikings would've also had a good enough record to qualify for a Pool C berth. Big deal. That and four dollars will get me a small coffee at Starbucks.

That's why you never saw me gripe about Juwan's absence on CCIW Chat, or even bring up Juwan's name at all, while he was out for those four games towards the end of the 2016-17 regular  season. Know why? Because it didn't matter. He wasn't in uniform, he didn't play, he didn't affect the game, and there was no sense in wasting everybody's time by talking about what would've happened if he'd played. Wishing for something doesn't make it so, and talking about it as if you actually had it doesn't make it so, either. We live in the real world, not in the ideal world in which our particular favorite teams never have injured players. As I said, you play with the players you have, not with the players you ought to have.

Fine. Agreed. Just please -- please -- don't give us the "if the Cards only had Erwin Henry ..." sob story if and when NCC loses a game.

And if Augustana's Pierson Wofford were healthy......But he's not.  I also wish John Laing (7 footer from the early 70s) still had eligibility...You play with the hand you're dealt.

Yeah, and I was even gonna let Greg be the one to 'kill' Kenny! ;)
