Who had 8:13 of the first half in the jacket-ripped-off pool?

Augie leads NCC at the half, 29-28. Augie was in command of the game until the Cards went into a 3-2 zone in the last four minutes, and Augie did a very poor job of trying to solve it.

My updated look at Pool C as of 6:30pm CT - http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4232.msg1859630#msg1859630.

I have NCC in good shape as of right now -- again, a loss tonight changes their winning percentage quite a bit though.

I have IWU in the #18 slot.  Directly above IWU I have Augsburg, who plays Bethel tomorrow in the MIAC title game.  Either way that game ends up, I believe IWU will move up a spot -- either Augsburg wins and exits Pool C, or they lose and fall a spot or two due to the winning percentage drop.  So basically I consider IWU #17 right now.

There are 5 Bubble Burster games left (noted on that link).  I already have NCC ahead of IWU, so let's just say the NCC/Augie game is sort of a non-factor for IWU right now -- whether Augie or NCC is the Pool C, IWU still comes out of that game about #17.  (Let's assume NCC is definitely ahead of IWU in the final regional ranking.)  That leaves 4 Bubble Burster games -- Cabrini, John Carroll, UW-Stevens Point, Sul Ross State.  If all 4 go the wrong way, I'd have IWU #21...in, in the very last spot.  That would be even less comfortable than right now is.  So if you are an IWU Pool C fan, you want as many of those 4 to go the right way as possible.

Cabrini, John Carroll, and Sul Ross State have all won tonight.  Really big for bubble teams.

Augie wins, 77-74. That was a very weird final possession for North Central.

Fantastic Game! Great to have Micah back.  NCAA Bound 6 to go.

Congrats to Augie on winning the CCIW tourney!  Micah Martin comes back and, combined with A.J. Dollmeyer, Augie gets 29 out of their post tandem.  Now the waiting game to see how many CCIW teams make the NCAA tournament.  Would be great to have 3 (although unlikely), but hopefully we'll have at least 2 make it.

It was an interesting game with a lot of different subplots. Alex Sorenson was thoroughly outplayed in the low post by the behemoth tag team of Micah Martin and A.J. Dollmeyer. Augie totally dominated the boards, but didn't defend the arc well, where the Cards really made hay. NCC used a 3-2 zone in the first half and a 2-3 zone in the second half that Augie really had difficultly solving. Connor Raridon had a really solid second half, and Mike Pollack was key to keeping NCC in the game. But Augie got two big treys down the stretch from Brett Benning and Nolan Ebel.

As Chris and Dan said on the broadcast, it's inexplicable why Augie didn't foul NCC on the final possession before the Cards could get off a trey. But the Cards didn't really run an offensive play on that last possession; they just kind of floundered around and had to resort to a 24-foot diagonal fadeaway prayer by Raridon that really had no hope at all of going in.

Brett Benning was pretty clearly the tourney MVP. For a guy who didn't make the All-CCIW team, he was pretty dominant this weekend.

Only 13 ticks off when it happened in the Hangar. :P I had the WONC broadcast on and they went nuts when the jacket came off.

Wasn't thrilled about it. But I tip my hat to the Vikings. They played a good game and earned the berth. And now I await the whims of the selection committee.

Like I said, Augie screwed up by not fouling. NCC screwed up by not running a coherent play, leaving the Cards stuck with an extremely low-percentage shot at the buzzer by a guy who isn't really a three-point shooter.

Updated look at Pool C - http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4232.msg1859685#msg1859685.

I have NCC ahead of IWU in the regional ranking...with IWU getting in right after NCC gets picked. I am not sure what way that will turn out.

Here is fantastic50's latest - http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4232.msg1859696#msg1859696.

The IWU vs NCC regional ranking thing is big.  As this computer model shows, IWU's numbers are better -- he has IWU at #19 and NCC at #24.  If NCC is regionally ranked ahead of IWU, it would push IWU down (IWU can only get considered in that scenario if NCC is selected).

Congrats to Augie on the Tournament championship and the CCIW AQ.   Great game with NCC, both teams tournament-worthy.

Now we wait -- let's hope the CCIW gets three teams in.

(Wheaton and IWU locks to be in on the women's side).

Speaking/writing as someone who tore my meniscus last year, I tip my hat to what Micah Martin did tonight.  The severity of that injury can run from rub-some-dirt-on-it-and-get-back-in-there to a full reconstruction that involves a major rehab.  Irrespective of where his injury lands on that spectrum, to play as well as he did tonight is pretty impressive.

(I assume his injury was the result of repeated blows from a sport coat hitting his knee while traveling at a high rate of speed...)
