Greek Tragedy

I'm expecting an Augie win, however, I would not be surprised at all if the Titans pull out a victory. Despite their conference record and failing to even make their conference tournament final, some WIACers would agree that Oshkosh is the best WIAC team.

I wouldn't be surprised as well Greek.  In the regular season match up, Although back in early December,  Fravert and Flynn really took it to the Augie bigs, both recording double doubles. Martin for Augustana also recorded a double double, but Oshkosh were much more the aggressors.  Should be a great game.

Agreed. I think that Augie is the favorite, but not by much. It wouldn't shock me one bit if UW-Oshkosh walked off the floor with the W. After all, the Titans have already notched a win in this tourney under very similar circumstances when they took down Wittenberg on the home floor of the Tigers seven days ago.

I've watched a lot of both teams this season. Like you, I think it's going to be a great game.

Who had 8:17 in the jacket pool?

I feel like we need to run these for every game. I ran one when Augie came to the hangar this season  but didn't make a huge deal of it here (I basically just asked AndOne, a few table people, the NCTV crew, my dad, and a former coworker to whom I've told the exploits of the jacket).

Congrats to Augie on Elite 8 again. Very impressive.  Hope they can take the next step this year, go all the way.

Looks like #1 Whitman ran into a buzz saw in Nebraska Wesleyan.

Augie is getting a phenomenal game out of Hunter Hill Nolan Ebel tonight.

Augie's season comes to an end in overtime with a 95-88 loss to UW-Oshkosh. Titans junior guard Ben Boots just went off like a firecracker late in the game, hitting 25-footers with impunity.

Too bad for Augie, going down in OT 95-88.  Just couldn't quite execute in the OT.  Oshkosh their first Final Four.

Final Four set:  Springfield, Ramapo, Nebraska Wesleyan and UWO.  Looks like Oshkosh wins it all to me.

Don't understand how the #1 team in the country can allow 130 points.  Crazy.

Congrats to Augie on a great season, CCIW co-champions, tournament champions, and Elite 8, yet again.

What a game...wow.

Ben Boots hit some crazy, crazy shots.  What a player.

Gregory Sager

Boots came into the game averaging 15.2 ppg and shooting .378 from beyond the arc. He's a very good player -- a two-time All-WIAC first-teamer, in fact -- but I don't think that even UWO fans would've expected him to do what he did tonight.

Fabulous effort by Oskosh.  If you would have told me that Augustana was going to get to the line 36 times and convert 81% I would have said game over.  Then I look at Oshkosh who got up 35 3s and hit 49%,  some from areas on the floor that the players aren't coached to get into someone's grill, then I say hats off.  Unbelievable shooting exhibition by Boots and the Titans.  Good luck in Salem.

AndOne

I know Oshkosh is a very good team but, playing on their home floor, I honestly expected Augie to come out on top tonight. I though the combination of the home crowd, and the experience they gleaned from advancing to the championship game last year, would carry them through to a win.

Does my alma mater from Lincoln, who put up 130 points on the #1 team in the country, now become the favorite to take home the trophy?

iwu70

AO, pretty amazing shooting by NWU tonight -- I watched part of it, and they were still in the second half shooting 70% from the floor and 70% from trey.  Out of their minds.  Don't think Whitman knew what hit them.   130!  Your alma might now be the favorites now, I don't know.  But Oshkosh looked good tonight too.  Other two I think not even getting votes in the top 25 poll -- Springfield over a very good Swarthmore team, and Ramapo, always a tough team.  IWU has seen them back in the day.

Should be interesting in Salem.

On the women's side, more predictable -- #1, #2, #3, and #5, going for the trophy, with two of the four teams still unblemished for the season -- Amherst and Wartburg.
