Chicago certainly exceeded my expectations. Playing without their starting point guard (what happened to Baum?) or starting center. Their starting forward/center picking up fouls early, playing a mere 11 minutes. Down only 4 with 0:24 seconds left to play...

I was going to ask the same question: What happened to Baum? He's the guy who makes the Maroons go. He's not flashy, but he's a very solid D3 point guard.

Thanks and that is some tough luck for the Maroons.

Should North Central, as is expected, be awarded a home football game for the first round of the playoffs next Saturday, the Cardinals first basketball game, currently scheduled for 2:00, will be moved to a 5:00 start.

And official confirmation of this just came down from North Central.

Yep. Cardinal playoff football at noon Sat. 🏈
Then, a couple of hours to refuel (🍔🌭) and change the antifreeze (🍺), either a couple of blocks away in beautiful downtown NaPPerville or at Tailgate Central in the Merner parking lot infield, followed by the basketball opener vs. Heidelberg in The Hangar at 5:00. 🏀

This is where I miss the old Tip Off Tournament. Announce a game, walk across Championship Plaza to catch like 30 minutes of football, then go back to warm up announce another game.

On the plus side, I should hopefully be able to get parking in rear Merner for the basketball game. :)

Watch out for Calvin Fisher on Millikin.  Freshman, 6' 6" strong, skilled.  Probably under-recruited coming out of Monticello, sometimes played lazy in high school, but coaching staff and older brother will push him.  Could be a really, really good four year player.

Calvin Fisher is a good player.  Could develop into a top-flight CCIW player.  Go SAGES!  :)

IWU '70

(Yes, MHS '66).

If you will forgive my posting football on this board, just to mention the MHS Sages playing in the 3A high school semi-finals this weekend, in Monticello.  Two undefeated teams -- Monticello hosting Carlinville.

It would appear Todd Raridon has narrowed down his roster to 16.

It appears Illinois Wesleyan may have some tough competition in this season's Guard Hoarding Championship Series.  :o 🏀 🏆

Corinthian Fields is a strong contender for the D3-JV all name team

He usually goes by his stage name, Jock Fields. 😊

And in case anyone is wondering, no, Barak is not pronounced like the President.
