Mr. Ypsi

Q, do we have a defensive specialist we'll put on Francis, or is it just whoever is his guy at the moment?

They're going to play a box and 1. One guy will cover the other 4 and the box will cover Francis.

I assume it will be an assortment of guys.  IWU's best perimeter defenders are Brady Rose, Colin Bonnett, Grant Wolfe, and freshman Peter Lambesis.  I assume all 4 will end up on him at some point.

Probably not ideal to have Rose on him too long.  I'd worry about foul trouble.

I had to read this three times before I realized what you were actually saying... but this post is hilarious lol

Our next commish.

Congrats and welcome to Commissioner-elect Harty!  Will she monitor the D3 Boards I wonder?  Maybe even post?

* Aston Francis: 27 pts, 4 reb, 8 assists
* Nyameye Adom: 14 pts, 5 reb, 3 assists
* Kobe Eichelberger: 12 pts
* Luke Peters: 11 pts, 3 reb, 6 assists
* Tyson Cruickshank: 10 pts

* Jason Gregoire: 21 pts, 2 assists
* Colin Bonnett: 21 pts, 2 reb, 2 assits
* Brady Rose: 17 pts, 3 reb, 3 assists
* Charle Bair: 9 pts, 12 pts

Great game.  Aston Francis hits a 3 at the buzzer to win it.

Wheaton had a lot of non-Francis guys play extremely well tonight.

Up 1 with 0:08 left IWU got the ball into Brady Rose, but he tried to pass it to Grant Wolfe to run out the clock.  If the ball gets to Wolfe the game ends...instead Rose threw it away.

Great game, tough loss.  That TO with 5 seconds to go the killer.  We had them, let it slip away.  Can't let Francis take the last shot!   Really a great game.   Hats off to Francis and the WC team, many WC players played well tonight.  I thought Bonnett and Gregoire played extremely well for the TITANS.

On to Augie.  No easy games in the CCIW.

Wow. I didn't expect any of that. Not a Wheaton win and certainly not a Brady Rose turnover. That probably won't happen too often.

Alas, the Wheaton performance at the cracker box compared to tonight's win in Bloomington—textbook definition of inconsistent.

If Rose just keeps the ball, gets fouled, and shoots the FTs...probably game over.  (IWU fouls to prevent the 3.)

Ugh.

Agreed.  For a super basketball-smart kid, a very dumb choice.

What a game.  Congratulations to Wheaton on the huge bounceback road win.  Not sure what it is but Aston Francis must love the Shirk because he's had nothing but good shooting games there, none bigger than tonight.  Huge contributions down the lineup especially from Adom who is capable of more of this.  Francis with a mere 21 shots.  Only 21 mins for Eichelberger which is surprising – maybe still playing hurt ?

Was a little hard to watch on my phone, lots of buffering, but it just seemed like a trey-fest at times.  I couldn't believe how IWU seemed to never miss.  Titans have a deep team with a bunch of weapons, not just B Rose.  Good thing there's only one ball.   Big shots made by both teams all night.

The turnover was definitely fortunate for Wheaton and very surprising honestly.  A key factor was with only a one point lead, Titans couldn't foul or run 2 guys at Francis and chance giving up another layup (like on the previous possession).

NPU loss stings just a little less now.  0-2 start would've been very not good.
