Augustana thumped Centre to the tune of 90-64 down in Memphis.

HAL got it wrong this time.

Final from Rhodes College:

Augustana 90
Centre 64

Ebel - 23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists
Wofford - 13 points, 6 assists
Orange - 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists

Centre was led by Bates with 11 points

This game was close going into half with the Augie leading 35-31 and even with about 12 minutes left in the game, Augie only had a 5 point lead. Good way to finish the game. On to tomorrow against host Rhodes College, 2-6 going into their game today.

Full credit to you on that one.

I am beginning to think that you may also deserve credit for the winning team, losing team reference.

Does any one know anything about Centre? I see they are undefeated but no votes in the D3 poll.

Their opponents are a combined 33-48, and include 2 members of the National Christian College Athletic Association, one of which is 0-11.

I sense Augie will use them as a floor mat.

Not too difficult to predict that one.  :D

Not to difficult to make a prediction and then say the prediction was not to difficult to make after the results match your prediction.

What? Is that Trumpese?  ::)

I just meant anyone who knows anything about Augie could have made the same prediction. I was saying I can't take much credit. That result was easy to see coming.

Yeah, Augie really showed why Centre, despite being undefeated, was receiving ZERO votes in the poll.  It probably didn't even have to be Augie; any good team could have shown that.

AO (or anyone with info), please give updates on A. Chang whenever you learn them.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who cares very much about his condition.  If I recall red-shirt rules correctly, I think his catastrophe occurred one game too late to apply for another season (I have no info on whether he would have been interested anyway - most D3 (esp. privates) players aren't, due to cost).  But someone like that I suspect would feel quite diminished in quality of life if he couldn't even play high-level pick-up games!  I hope he has a FULL (and speedy) recovery.

The most gruesome injury I ever saw in person was an EMU running back, whose leg bent as though his knee was put on backwards - I threw up in the stands.  I never did hear how his recovery went, and still occasionally wonder.  (He never played football, at least for Eastern, again - but I wonder 'did he even walk again?!')

Albion came into the game averaging over 40% from beyond the arc as a team, but the Britons turned into the Bricklayers tonight. They had all of the open looks from long range that you could want in a basketball game, and yet they clanked and clanked and clanked away to the tune of 5-24 (21%).

North Central ran an extremely efficient offense. The Cards' 57% shooting from the field and 42% from downtown was no accident, as they dished out 22 assists as a team. I've watched several NCC games this season, and the Napervillains were doing a better job of cutting, sealing, lobbing, screening, reversing around the perimeter, moving without the ball -- all of the building-block stuff that makes a halfcourt offense go -- better than any other time that I've seen them. Of course, it didn't hurt that Matt Cappelletti was out-of-his-mind hot as a shooter tonight.

Perhaps I just haven't noticed before, but was this a typo or have you adopted my term for that team from Naperville?  In 2012-13, IWU went 13-0 in the conference, needing only one more win to be the first undefeated champion since 1973.  Since NCC (when fully healthy ;D) was clearly the better team, I had little hope for our final game, though we did take them to OT.  Then, in the round of eight, they ended our season by ten on their home court.  They have been Napervillains ever since.   We went to Salem in both 2012 and 2014, so that one really hurt! ::)

I've used that term on these boards for decades, Chuck.

Sounds familiar from the 1st half of Saturday's game when the Cards couldn't miss and Wheaton couldn't make.  I believe NCC came out 7-10 from 3pt with Cappalletti also being the main agent. With 5 mins to go in the 1st H it was 41-10.   Practically a replay of the Thunder game vs Chicago which is a little concerning.
