A conversation about Augie's chances of going undefeated in conference play somehow pivots to a discussion of the prospects for the Titan women's team doing so?  Congratulations to Illinois Wesleyan!

I really need to find something else to do during halftime of non-conference games.

Where did that Whitewater fan in the middle of the picture come from?

Obviously this picture wasn't taken near or at the end of the North Central game!  ;)

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Illinois Wesleyan went undefeated this season in women's basketball (I'd only be surprised if iwu70 exercised restraint in posting about it ;)),

so which statement is the highly, highly, highly unlikely one. . . !?

LOL!

I think that you're on the right track, Lucas, but there's not quite enough gray hair in that picture.

I shouldn't laugh at that, but I did. :-X

The North Central Cardinals winged their way to Las Vegas yesterday afternoon where they will participate in the D3Hoops.com Classic today and tomorrow.

The traveling party was unexpectedly able to be joined by Senior Aiden Chang as, during a doctor's appointment Monday morning, Aiden was found to be making wonderful progress in recovering from the devastating 3 part injury he sustained in the recent game at Wheaton, and was cleared to fly.
Not taking any chances, Aiden was accompanied to the appointment by a member of the NCC training staff who was further instructed by the surgeon in both steps to prevent possible complications, and wound/dressing care. Tracy, who also flew with the team, has been a valuable aid in Aiden's recovery to date.

Unfortunately, it seems that if it weren't for bad luck, North Central would have no luck at all recently.
As this will become evident later this afternoon, I can now report that the Cardinals have also lost the services of senior F/C Jack Bronec for the remainder of the season. Jack went down and left last Saturday's game vs. Illinois College with what initially appeared to be a knee sprain or deep bruise. Very unfortunately, further examination/testing revealed a torn ACL which will apparently end Jack's career. Another very sad development for sure.
We'll have to see what the NCC lineup/rotation looks like going forward.

With Aiden's and Jack's injuries this season, the Cards have now lost 4 important players (Connor Raridon, Erwin Henry, Aiden, and Jack) to season ending injuries in the last 3 years. I know injuries are a part of the game, and nobody is going to shed any tears for NCC. And while I'm familiar with the concept of "next man up," it would be a welcome change to see what they could accomplish with a full roster for an entire season.

I am sorry to hear about this.  Tough breaks for the Cardinals
and really tough ways for Chang and Bronec to end their careers.

When it rains it freaking pours.

That said, I'm kind of excited to see what's been referred to at the table as the "Death Star" lineup on what will probably be more of a consistent basis.

It's probably as close as we've been to the mythical five guard offense that we see pop up on occasion on this board, since the forwards who see playing time can handle the ball pretty well in transition.

I really hate to see anyone's career end with an injury... let's hope this is the last one that is relevant on this board for a long time.

If Pat and Dave check in here at halftime, I'll repeat a factoid that I posted here a few days ago that should fit nicely into their call:

Matt Cappelletti's trey shooting, first eight games: 8-32 (.250)
Matt Cappelletti's trey shooting, last three games: 10-17 (.588)

WUPHF

That is quite the factoid.  9-11 from three for the game with 16 rebounds. Wow.

In a 40-pt game, why is Cappelleti playing 34 minutes? Seems like overkill.

Curiously, none of the Husson starters played more than 20 minutes.
