Just saw a replay of a scary play in the NCC and Augie game. Blaise Meredith appeared to block a layup attempt by Crishawn Orange, but then hit his face on the backboard and then hit the ground hard. Appears to be okay and walked off the court under his own power, but that could not have felt very good.

It's beginning to appear that an evil spirit has cast a spell over the Cardinals, and has begun using them for voodoo dolls. First Aiden Chang, and then Jack Bronec go down for the season. Tonight, a backboard gets in the way of Blaise Meredith's face as he flies through the air. It flips him causing him to land on his face and chest with a sickening thud. Potentially more dangerous than Aiden's and Jack's injuries. DAMNNNNNN! ENOUGH ALREADY!
Time to call in the High Priestess to cast out the evil spell.  🦹‍♀️  👿

Fortunately for Blaise and the Cardinals, he returned to the game and everything looks like he will be okay. A scary play for certain, but the witch doctor can stay at home for now🙌🏻

With looks being the operative word. And, hopefully the witch doctor can stay home for good. 🤞
But with what has happened recently, its just getting to the point of what's/who's next? 🤷‍♂️

Elmhurst 74
Carroll 70

Elmhurst starts 2019 with a comeback win on the road at Carroll. They trailed by 11 in the second half before slowly chipping away at the deficit and taking the lead in the games final minutes. Jake Rhode led all scorers with 27 points, none more important than the reverse layup to put Elmhurst in the lead at 71-70 with 27 seconds left. Elmhurst then was whistled for a foul on Tyler Ingebrigtsen who proceeded to miss both free throws. Marakis grabbed the rebound and hit one of his two foul shots to make it 72-70 with 11 seconds left. Ryan Clarey's layup didn't drop and Dotlich grabbed the rebound and hit both free throws to seal the deal for Elmhurst. Jeremy Ireland had 21 points and 7 boards
and Dotlich with 17 for the Jays. Nick Penny led Carroll with 18. Ingebrigtsen with 13 and Tarren Hall had 11.

Elmhurst had a season low 8 turnovers tonight. After starting the season averaging almost 20 turnovers/game, they are looking much more confident with the ball as of late.

The Jays (9-4, 4-0) have already surpassed last year's mark of 2 CCIW road victories. Another tough road game looms Saturday night vs North Central.

There's a couple different versions on twitter already one with a million views and the espn one with half a million.  This might end up being the most viewed North Central highlight of all time.

I'm actually a bit surprised that this sort of thing doesn't happen more often, at least the head-hitting-the-backboard part of it. As someone in the Twitter feed pointed out, both Michael Jordan and Zion Williamson have hit their heads on backboards in games, but it appears to me that in both cases they hit the pads on the undersides and corners of the backboards with the sides of their heads. Meredith might be all alone in going face-first into the actual glass.

Did he hit the glass or the metal box under the rim?  Neither is a great option.  At least he didn't land on his head too.

Greek Tragedy

Sounds like he got called for a foul too. Not sure.

They closed Sportscenter with it either last night or this morning.  I don't know if the 7am edition is new or a rerun, but it ran at 7:59, right after the Top 10.

One of the sports networks, I believe it was CBSSN, was supposed to send a crew to The Hanger at 4:45 this afternoon to interview/film Blaise.

I don't know if it was CBSSN or just the local CBS affiliate, but he was interviewed and says he's okay other than a bruised hip.
